Put on a show whilst you are painting and hear the stories behind your fellow geekers and the people that created the games you know and love.

This week I talk to Stuart of the Miniature Realms Youtube channel. Stuart puts together a wide range of content for us to enjoy from chats to tutorials to book overviews. I have wanted to talk to Stuart for a long time as he always comes across as a solid stand up chap who is passionate about our hobby, and he was! Thanks for coming onto the show Stuart, we appreciated hearing from you, and if you haven't checked out his channel then swing by and see if it is something you may enjoy. This week I talk to Smiddy once again, thats Dave Schmidt for those who didnt listen to our last show. Smiddy wanted to talk about why he loves Five Parsecs from Home. Thats it, he loves it. We meander along and have a ramble chat about the things that occur to us. It is also the first reported usage of my actual paint mixer in a show. Usually I shake my paints by hand in the show, you may hear this, you deffo hear me tinkling my paint brush in my cup for sure, but this is a bonafide hearing of the electric mixer! I saw the opportunity and I took it! Hoping for the Oscar for best natural ambiance now. PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/FDHZK94x
This week I talk to Peter, who is a PATM discord member, fellow nerd, and also he has taken the dive into writing his own rules. I wont spoil any of the chat here but it was fun talking with him and I am sure I speak for all the listeners when we wish him all the best with his rule sets. In the chat Peter brought up sustainable gaming. As I come up on my first decade in gaming it is a good opportunity to take stock of what I have learned and why I am still in love with it. Back in episode 150 through 153 we talked about how people may hobby effectively and sustainably during our life, I am sure we will revisit it soon, but it came up in the show and if you are not familiar with those shows, then it may be worth having a wee listen. Both Peter and I believe in this concept. PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/rAseucvH
This week I talk to Barry from the Optimal Game State Youtube channel. In the show we do the usual hobby history dive, along with talking about Barry's Youtube channel, being an analytical force for good in the games he plays, and also we talk about Warcry Card Creator that Barry husbands. It was great talking to Barry, thanks to him for spending an hour chatting with us. PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/hnMq4Jv7
This week I talk to Alex from the Storm of Steel Youtube channel. Alex puts together content for games he loves, often playing solo, and his Youtube channel is one I enjoy. If you like the cut of his jib, despite him being a Yorkshireman, then check out his channel. Regardless of any Youtube channel he is an interesting guy to speak to and we spent a good chunk of time talking about Lard games, the cult of lard. Games from Two Fat Lardies. I love Lard games, a lot. You should check those out too. PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/vy5CduX7
This week I talk once again to Mr Stephen Baker the creator of Heroquest, Space Crusade, and Battle Masters to name just three! Stephen and I spoke first in Ep 257, in that episode we talked about his formative steps in the hobby and his first steps into the hobby industry, so if you havent listened to that yet then I recommend going back as it really sets the tone for this chat where we predominantly speak about Heroquest. Heroquest is the starting point for so many of todays hobbyists and it is a brilliant example of so many iconic things coming together in one place. I wont spoil any of the chat but we start off talking about famous Stephen's and we end up with me yelling BRODESODE…..We both hope you enjoy the chat. This week I talk to Matthew from the Bedroom Battlefields Podcast about playing games at what we would call "non traditional times". I would say that usually when we think of tabletop gaming we would think of playing at a club night during the week, or on a weekend afternoon. I personally play early am on saturday morning, Matthew likes to play then too and so we had a chin wag about it, and here are the noises we made! Its a bit of a tiddler this week, that wont be the first time Matthew has heard something like that, but the show is quite short so I added an extra long post ramble ramble on specifically about why you should take a look at the A Song of Ice and Fire game. This week I talk to Mark, we spoke back in episode 248 about him and his hobby history. This time we are speaking a bit about mental health. Today, the 10th of October 2025 marks mental health awareness day. Mark messaged me a while ago and wanted to put something together for it, so thanks Mark, nice one, we appreciate your care about this subject. PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Jon Dawson once again, he was on back on Episode 240, this time he is talking about why he loved Gangs of Rome and Wild West Exodus. Nuff'sed.... PATM Discord Server Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Dave Schmidt. Dave is not only a hobby nerd like us but he is also a self published author. He writes the Clay and Aether saga and he's not done! He is writing more books as we speak, maybe at this very moment, so be quiet, dont disrupt him. It was great to talk to Dave, he is one of our own, he's been a member of the PATM discord for ages and he is always a positive presence and influence on those around him, thanks Dave, was a great chat and we all wish you the very best. Dave also sent us a snipped of one of his books and we can listen to that right after the intro, so if you like it you can check out the audiobooks or ye'olde'skool read if yourself versions. Its on Amazon, I picked up the series the other week and I have a bit of holiday coming up sooooooo, I am on it! PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Rodman Hellman, you'll get that joke in a bit. We talk about what has been happening for him since we spoke back in 2017 and then go on to talk about his rule set County Road Z. County Road Z is a co op post apocalyptic game, it sounds super fun and it is one on my christmas/birthday list. I'm not going to go into the show more as it is nice to just listen to it unfold as we go. PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Alex of the Alex Paints Tiny Things Youtube channel. We have the usual rambly chat about his hobby history, likes, and highlights. We dig into a big of competitive painting, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I am pretty sure I mention it in the show, but I generalise Scottish people a little in the show, I just wanted to ensure that I mention that this is in jest, and I am totally and fully aware that you cant generalise people, it was just a lighthearted bit of banter. I dont think it was too savage, but I just thought I would throw it out there. It was great fun talking to Alex, he was insightful and interesting and his video work makes for a positive learning experience. PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Stephen Baker the world renowned game designer. Stephen's work includes but is not limited to Heroquest, Battle Masters, and Space Crusade. This is the first of….some podcasts Stephen and I will have. I wanted to take the time to get to know him and really discuss things as opposed to rushing or just him feeling like we were superficially pumping him for click baity answers to questions that he has probably been asked a thousand times. So in this show we get to know him, his hobby history, and any interesting tid bits that popped up as we chatted. We end this show ready to discuss Heroquest and its genesis. Thanks to Stephen for coming onto the show! PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Chris from the Offbeat Builds Youtube channel. Chris creates videos of himself kitbashing Warhammer 40k models and his videos are slick and he is also a chipper and funny chap so his work is always good value. Chris came across as a really nice guy and I was very fortunate to be able to spend a while with him, I had a good few chuckles when I was listening back during the edit, I hope you enjoy listening to it also. Thanks Chris for coming onto the show, I hope we find common cause to chat again in the future. If you are into kitbashing, or want to be, go check Offbeat Builds out. This week I talk to Tom of Warriors Table Wargaming YouTube channel. Tom and accomplices put together a whole bunch of stuff for us to watch and listen to from The Walking Dead All Out War to Malifaux, and Moonstone, amongst others. It was fun talking to Tom as he has very clear opinions and ideas about what he does and that made for an interesting conversation. I wont spoil any of the content here as you can follow along like you were there with us, but you may want to look up what a pie butty is, and also what pea wet is! Thanks to Tom for coming onto the show and for all the effort he goes to for the community. PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Ed about why he loves the tabletop skirmish game Space Weirdos. I love these shows, they are the purest form of our podcast. Ed didnt write the game, he's not got anything to gain about selling it to you. He just loves is, and wants to share that with us, and thats amazing!!!! Thanks to Ed for taking the time to come onto the show, it was a pleasure to meet him and to speak to him. If you are a Space Weirdo then I hope you feel happy that your common love is getting some world attention. A little like Patrick Swazye in Dirty Dancing "No one puts Space Weirdos in the corner" Anyway listen to the chatter, we start out talking about Southern Softies and we go from there. PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Scott Wainwright, the creator of the Brutality rule sets, he also has a Youtube channel called Let's Talk Tabletop. Let's Talk Tabletop is a reflective and philosophic inquiry into our hobby and Brutality rule sets give you the ability to play lots of genres with a similar set of guiding principles. Its always great to talk to creative people about their mentalities and ethos's and Scott was no exception. I wont ruin or spoil any of the chat here by signposting it, but we hope that you enjoy the show and I must thank Scott for coming onto the show and giving up an hour of his consciousness to chat with us. This week I talk once more to Mr Roger Yates of the Duncan Rhodes Painting Academy. We spoke back in episode 230 so if you haven't listened to that one you may want to as this is a continuation of that chat and we delve into what has been happening in recent times with the paint line, and also a lot of chat into the future. It was another fun chat with Roger and it was nice of him to give up another hour of his time to chat to us, thanks Rog. I talk about it in the show but I exclusively use the Two Thin Coats range of paints now, and I wouldnt throw your current paints out the window to go and buy all 180 of their paints, but if you are in the market for a new red, or a new leather brown or what not, then give a couple of their paints a go. I painted all of my Baratheons with Two Thin Coats paints, you can check out the article on paintalltheminis.co.uk and see the results. I do a lot of yellow there so you can see how the paint deals with my mediocre talents! PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/dAYXASPJ
This week I talk once more to Ronnie Renton of Mantic Games. We chat about what Mantic have been up to recently and also what they are up to in the near future. We chat about The Walking Dead All Out War, Halo, Epic Warpath, and a bunch of other stuff. Ronnie is just a great guy who is infectiously enthusiastic and positive about our hobby, and he works extremely hard. He is always going somewhere or doing something. Great guy. We hope you enjoy the show.

I backed the 2nd kickstarter (vol 4-6), and have just backed the 3rd (#7-9) of Dave's "art of..." I'm hoping to get #1-3 (maybe as b'day/xmas) I love the coffee table collection vibe of them, how each book is uniquely written & styled, depending on the author. So, thanks Dave for the celebration. AND a massive thank you for broadcasting this interview. Insightful, interesting and in-depth. Bravo, long may you continue to create such content 👏👏👏👏👏
This paints all the minds music we players mostly listen while playing with the paintball guns. This music is a lot of fun and I really like it. Thanks for sharing this to us. Also, why not to also try this sport, here is the link: https://thepaintballhub.com/best-paintball-tank/
