In this episode, Dr. Aplin and the BrainStim Gang tackle the age-old question: Why do some people get sick when the weather changes? Rather than pointing to germs as the culprit, Dr. Aplin challenges the traditional germ theory, noting that if germs were solely to blame, everyone exposed to the same environment would get sick — but they don't. Instead, he argues the real factor is individual immune capacity. Key takeaways: It's not about the germ — it's about your capacity. People who don't get sick despite exposure have stronger, more resilient immune systems. Your immune system is designed to protect you. The job isn't to fight germs with chemicals, but to protect the system that was built to do that for you. Healthy habits build capacity: good food, clean water, fresh air, and quality sleep are the foundations of a strong immune system. Suppressing symptoms can backfire. Fevers and other immune responses are the body learning — masking them with medication may prevent the immune system from building resilience. Weather changes don't make you sick directly — they simply expose those with low immune capacity, pushing them "over the edge." True health isn't about being asymptomatic on medication — it's about building and protecting your body's natural defenses.
