Description

Two friends, one podcast, & plenty of local chatter. We shine a spotlight on Herefordshire’s people, stories, and quirks every week with plenty of conversation, laughter and a few cheeky features. We'll be doling out some Dear Herefordshire agony aunt advice to those of you with a dilemma (anonymously of course, with lots of nonsense and teasing) and playing your community shout-outs and messages. Plus we'll be gathering the gossip from the Shire in our 'Word on the Street' feature and interviewing some local legends for our Story Seat too. We can't wait to bring you a snapshot of life in our wonderfully weird part of the country.

Episode 1 — Wassailing, Panto & the Presenter We’d Party WithWelcome to the debut episode of Herefordshire Hearsay, the podcast that celebrates the people, places and quirky charm of our wonderful county. In this episode, your hosts Pauline and Kerry dive straight into the good stuff with stories, laughs, and a few questionable bits of advice.🌳 What's happening in The Shire…🍎 Wassailing WondersWe kick things off by exploring the ancient Herefordshire tradition of wassailing. What it's all about and why Kerry thinks it's a cross between a good Hammer Horror film and a visit to Royston Vasey! Torch light processions, strange effigies and a bit of Morris dancing thrown in too! A normal evening's entertainment in Herefordshire on a cold winter night.📣 Snowden, Foxes and a Magical MomentHear Darren (aka Ricky Gervais) tell us about his magical wild camping trip up Snowden and how he once rubbed noses with a mountain fox. It's true and thankfully his nose is still intact!🕺 Reliving Summers in KingtonPauline takes a nostalgic trip back to her younger days when she spent her summer holidays on a farm in Kington. Will she ever find Colin again? Who remembers Granny, Spider and the aggressive goat. Kington folk we need your help! 🎭 Panto Season PrepIt’s behind you! (Sorry, we had to.)We chat about the upcoming Herefordshire pantomime season at The Courtyard. It's Mother Goose this year. The wonderful cast, the vibe, why adult night is so popular and why you don't put your hand up to help the Dame. And of course the classic pantomime singalong that has you humming all the way home.💌 Dear HerefordshireOur agony aunt feature kicks off with a lively festive dilemma sent in by a listener from Belmont. Expect wise advice (not)! empathy… and a large dollop of laughter. Budgies or boxers indeed!📻 The BBC Hereford & Worcester Radio Question We Had To AnswerFind out which presenter would we want a night out with? Why? (well why not!)Should we have shared this publicly? Probably not, but it’s too late now.🌳 Fab FurnitureFind out if Pauline will ever get her bedroom furniture transformed, will her fusion paint remodel do the trick!📣 The Shire Shout-outWe celebrate local legends, groups and businesses doing great things in the community.
