Description

A personal podcast about Simple Living, Decluttering, Digital Minimalism, Motivation, Sustainability and so much more. Posting a new episode every Monday.

I hope to be an encouragement for you to start your week off great - and I hope to be coming to you during commuting, cleaning, cooking, crafting, etc.

I’m a wife, a mother, a former youtuber and blogger, and born curious. When I see a problem I can't help myself.. I want to find a solution.

So let's look into some of the lifestyle issues most of us face every day. Let's learn together.

I believe in God and my faith is a big part of this. He’s our mentor and turns out he has some pretty solid insights into our lifestyle issues :)

Happy January! Winters can be long, and over the years I've learned how I best get through them. Without a plan I will go into complete hibernation og is more likely to get pulled into seasonal moods that are a bit heavy. So I apply a lot of time for creating and diving Ito interesting topics. Today I share some of them with you:) Pdf to reflect on the year: https://hillsidetalks.com/downloadables/ #podcast #simplifylife #mentalhealthmatters #create #useyourgifts #Scandinavia #MariaStorgaard ...
New year is coming up fast and I love this time of year. I love and honestly appreciate getting a fresh start, a clean slate.. and I'm always filled with anticipation about it.. in a good way:) In this episode I dive into some of the things we will be prioritizing as a family in the new year and a few of the things we WON'T prioritize as much (and the reasons why). My podcast: https://hillsidetalks.com/ Introducing a weekly rest day has been one of the biggest game changers for us. It has changed the way we move through the rest of the week. It has also tought us how to ACTUALLY rest, I'm not sure we knew how before we started sabbath-ing. In Danish, it's called "hviledag" which translates to "Resting Day". In this episode I share how we do it, and what rhythms we have found helpful. I hope you like it!
Today I Interview Morten (my husband) about how he navigates screentime and what boundaries he sets - and finally, his motivation for doing it. Morten was the first-mover in our family to set boundaries for screen time and he really did an awesome job in sticking to it for the past 4-5 years. So I find it very fitting to bring him on and let him inspire us. He never checks the news, he never binges a series, and the few social media accounts he still has are purely functional tools. He ...
My podcast: https://hillsidetalks.com/ Happy December 1st! It's officially Christmas month and I LOVE Christmas. In this video I share some of our rhythms around December and how we try to make Christmas a relaxing and fun time rather than a hectic and busy month. Let's dive in!
My podcast: https://hillsidetalks.com/ PDF mentioned in the episode: https://hillsidetalks.com/new-year 2025 is ending and a new year is on the horizon. I always like to reflect on the year that is passing away and decide what to bring in to the next year as well as what to leave behind.
Let's talk bedrooms. Why are we so focusing on how big a bedroom SHOULD be when choosing or building a new home? instead, we should engage our creativity to make it work. Here's what we do :D
When we purchased our apartment, the kitchen really needed some tweaking for it to work for us as a small family. We decided to get creative and do it on a tight budget, and we ended up with a result that really works for us!
This episode starts off my mini-series about our homes. Decorating is fun, and making our homes reflect who we are can be really powerful. It just often leads to a lot of money being spent (and natural resources being used!). We always try to limit our footprint on this planet which means getting really creative when it comes to an area like our home. This week I walk you though our fun mission to fix the acoustics in our dining room - primarily with things we found on the street :)
My podcast: https://hillsidetalks.com/ Do you need it - or just want it? When does it matter? In this episode we zoom in on what we really need to be happy and live a content life. Contentment is such a fascinating concept - simple, yet often hard to live.
Making homemade gifts for people is fun, but I've learned by experience, that a bit of planning is a good idea. I like to make a lot of gifts, and I usually start early, so I have plenty of time to enjoy the process. I also share some ideas on how to consider your friend or family members' love language, when planning what to make for them. With the Christmas season coming up, I also touch on the core of Christmas, Jesus was born, that is what we celebrate ...and feel free to take the pressur...
The past 14 years I've navigated pretty strictly by my top3 priorities. They have helped us make decisions (big and small). They helped us pay of our debt way faster than the bank estimated and travel while doing it. To me, priorities is a under-valued tool that everyone can benefit from.
My conversation with Karla Dalsgaard was fantastic. She's a 21-year-old Danish entrepreneur. She started knitting during Covid in lock down (on a boat) and then years later started creating her own patters when she got stuck on a plane. I hope you enjoy this conversation and her takes on creativity. FemiKnit: https://femiknit.dk/
About 6 years ago, I gave myself a challenge. I set a goal to either make from scratch or thrift 80% of my clothing. I share my motivation for doing that, and how I plan it. As part of the challenge, I had to learn how to knit sweaters. It was quiet difficult learning to understand the recipes, but it is also so much fun and something I still really enjoy doing.
My husband Morten is back on the podcast. We have decided that we want him on for every topic I cover on the podcast for a spouse perspective - and to get a dudes perspective. We talk about the 80/20 rule, thrifting, being frugal, how pre-used clothing fits and if "higher price" means "better quality". There are a SO MANY benefits to slowing down, and in this episode I share what I find to be the most powerful. I also talk about the power of creativity, and how it can really help change our look an a problem or challenge we face.
Happy fall everyone! It's September, fall is officially here, whether we like it or not:) This weeks episode is about stopping and noticing the changes and beauty around us. The days get shorter (for many of us) and that affects our bodies. I've learned that good things can come from applying some intentionality to this change.
I have had a capsule wardrobe for 13 years, and I still love it. It makes my everyday so much easier and I take my time finding new pieces. In this episode I share my experiences with number of items, quality, colours and fibers. So lets dive in and talk about our clothes:) Here are a few videos I did about exactly this - loooong ago on my old YouTube channel: My Capsule wardrobe video on youtube (GoDownsize) My video of my 33 items of clothes (10-years ago on YouTube)
Doing the detox was really challenging. I'm not going to lie and say it was a walk in the park - but it has given me such a huge payback that I don't ever want to go back to the way things were before. I worry less, I'm less restless. I create more, focus better and sleep better:)
Today we talk about a topic near and dear to many women.. clothes :) I have lived with a minimal wardrobe since I did Project 333 13 years ago and love it. I share how much clothes I have and I share practical ways you can declutter your own clothes. We wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time (!). Think about that fact for a minute... and then dive into decluttering your clothes. Have fun! Our video on decluttering clothes (our old channel)
