Description
Dragon Ball Super Dope is a Dragon Ball podcast covering Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Daima, Dragon Ball GT, the movies, the manga, and every chaotic corner of the Toriyama multiverse. Hosted by me, Kyle, the show blends analysis with unfiltered humor as we break down new episodes, revisit classic arcs, explore power scaling, rank the best fights, and react to every major Dragon Ball announcement.
While Dragon Ball is the heart of the show, we also dive into other fandoms we love — including Marvel movies, MCU chaos, and the latest episodes of My Hero Academia and other anime that cross our radar. If you're into Goku and Deku, Vegeta and Bakugo, or just want a place where Dragon Ball fans occasionally yell about superheroes, you're in the right spot.
If you're looking for a Dragon Ball Super podcast, a Dragon Ball Z review show, Daima reactions, MHA breakdowns, Marvel talk, or a place to geek out with a community that doesn't take itself too seriously, welcome home. We dig into transformations, timelines, lore, and the wildest fan theories — with plenty of jokes and fan-chaos along the way.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 3 is here, and after three episodes of Toei Animation's updated take on Battle of Gods, we might have our first disappointment. This week on Dragon Ball Super Dope, Kyle breaks down Episode 3, "The God of Destruction Heads to Earth," and explains why this might be the weakest installment of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus so far. Between questionable animation decisions, rushed storytelling, and some bizarre editing choices, this episode raises an important question: Is the new version of Dragon Ball Super actually improving the original anime? Beerus finally makes his way to Earth, where Bulma's birthday celebration is underway. For Vegeta, however, the God of Destruction's arrival is anything but a party. His terrifying memories of Beerus humiliating King Vegeta come rushing back, setting the stage for one of the most memorable confrontations in Battle of Gods. Kyle discusses how the new anime handles Vegeta's childhood flashback, why Kid Vegeta's character design wasn't updated to match Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and how the animation team continues to make some strange choices when revisiting the original series. And yes, they even brought back that infamous Vegeta stumbling animation! Despite these criticisms, there's still plenty to enjoy, particularly the contrast between Beerus being presented as a terrifying, almost horror-movie villain and his surprisingly casual interactions with the Z Fighters. Topics discussed in this episode: Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 3 review and analysis Why Episode 3 might be the weakest episode yet Vegeta's history with Beerus and King Vegeta Beerus arriving on Earth for Bulma's birthday The updated animation compared to the original Dragon Ball Super Vegeta's character design and its differences from Dragon Ball Super: Broly The infamous Vegeta stumbling animation returns The rushed editing and pacing of the Battle of Gods remake The comedy and horror elements of Beerus's personality Celebrating the legendary Masako Nozawa's 90th birthday Is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus delivering the definitive version of Battle of Gods, or is the remake already showing its weaknesses? Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 2 just FIXED one of the worst animated fights in Dragon Ball history! The infamous Goku vs. Beerus battle on King Kai's Planet has received a massive upgrade, and the results might be even better than the original Battle of Gods movie! In this episode of Dragon Ball Super Dope, Kyle reviews Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 2, breaking down the completely reworked Super Saiyan Goku vs. Beerus fight, the improved animation and choreography, and the surprising influence of Toyotaro's Dragon Ball Super manga. With the new anime already condensing roughly five episodes of the original Dragon Ball Super series into just two, the updated Battle of Gods arc is moving quickly without sacrificing the character moments that make Dragon Ball great. We also discuss one of the biggest improvements that nobody seems to be talking about: Goku's personality. Instead of the reckless, battle-obsessed version of Goku from the original Dragon Ball Super anime, this version actually seems to understand how dangerous Beerus is. From King Kai's desperate attempts to hide Goku to the tense introduction of the God of Destruction, the entire encounter feels more meaningful. Is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus becoming the definitive version of Battle of Gods? Is this the best Goku vs. Beerus fight we've ever seen? And should the rest of Dragon Ball Super receive the same treatment? Drop your thoughts in the comments! Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is officially here, and Kyle is breaking down Episode 1 of the newly reworked Dragon Ball Super anime! Is this essentially Dragon Ball Super Kai, or is Toei Animation delivering something even better? From gorgeous updated visuals and improved lighting to tighter pacing, refreshed sound effects, and a surprisingly intimidating Beerus, there's plenty to love about this new take on the Battle of Gods storyline. Kyle dives into Goku's newly animated image training against Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu, the brilliant parallel between Goku and Beerus awakening to their desire for a worthy opponent, and the return of Mr. Satan's surprisingly heartfelt character development. Plus, we discuss the new opening theme "Onogami" by Megaterra Zero, the differences between the original Dragon Ball Super anime and this updated adaptation, and what Kibito Shin's appearance could mean for Dragon Ball Daima, Super Saiyan 4, and the increasingly complicated Dragon Ball canon. Finally, Kyle compares the early Crunchyroll reception of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus with Dragon Ball Daima, questions why Dragon Ball still can't deliver a proper simultaneous English dub, and responds to fans complaining about revisiting old material instead of jumping straight into the Moro Arc. Is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus already proving the doubters wrong? Let's talk about it! Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is almost here! With the new anime set to premiere in Japan on October 11, Kyle breaks down everything we know about how and where fans will be able to watch the series, including the expected Crunchyroll simulcast and Netflix release schedule. We also listen to and react to previews of the new opening and ending themes, including "Megatera Zero" by Onogami and "Konpeki no Peki" by VK Blanka. Then we get into the bigger question surrounding Dragon Ball Super: Beerus: is this really going to stop after the first three arcs? With 19 episodes currently confirmed, Kyle looks at the calendar leading up to the Galactic Patrol arc and makes the case that there may be enough time to continue remaking Dragon Ball Super. Could we see new versions of the Goku Black/Future Trunks arc, Tournament of Power and even Dragon Ball Super: Broly before Moro finally arrives? Plus: why a seasonal approach might be exactly what Dragon Ball needs, what a more manga-faithful Tournament of Power could look like, Master Roshi dodging Jiren, the importance of Broly to the future Super storyline, some Patreon updates, and Kyle's increasingly suspicious relationship with Facebook. sakanaction / Wasurerarenaino -Music Video Support the Show! It's time for another installment of the Dragon Ball opening theme series, and this time Kyle is tackling arguably the most iconic Dragon Ball song ever recorded: "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA." We go back to the original Dragon Ball Z opening by Hironobu Kageyama, dig into lyricist Yukinojo Mori's surprisingly profound explanation of what "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" actually means, and discover that underneath the dinosaurs, fireballs and general Dragon Ball weirdness is a song about clearing your mind, letting go of what's happened to you, and finding the room to dream again. Kyle also dives into Kageyama's memories of recording the song—including the bizarre alternate universe where CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA apparently sounded more like Bon Jovi—and revisits the many versions of Dragon Ball Z's opening theme that fans heard around the world. From Rock the Dragon and Funimation's nostalgic instrumental themes to English-language covers, international adaptations and Kageyama singing the damn thing himself in English, we're celebrating the strange history and enduring legacy of one of the greatest anime theme songs of all time. Plus: old-school DBZ VHS nostalgia, DragonBallZ.com, Super Survivor, questionable localization decisions, and an alarming amount of yelling about bass lines.
