Description

Weight loss surgery is only the beginning—and nobody really talks about what comes after. Proffee & Chaos is the unfiltered podcast where WLS meets real life. Hosted by Jamie Mills, a bariatric dietitian and patient herself, this show goes beyond nutrition tips or weight loss advice. Jamie pulls back the curtain on the ins, outs, ups, and downs of life after surgery—the stuff no one prepared you for.

From regain and GLP-1s, to body image, mom life, food freedom, and the pressure to "do it perfectly," nothing is off limits. Jamie shares her own journey alongside raw conversations with patients, providers, and everyday people surviving the chaos too.

Whether you're fresh out of surgery, years into maintenance, or just curious what life after WLS is really like—you'll find connection, community, and the conversations you've been waiting for. The ones that don't just focus on weight loss, but rather, your identity outside of it.

Because at the end of the day, it's not just about the diet, the scale, or the vitamins. It's about learning to live fully—through the chaos.

I'm burnt out… and I'm finally saying it out loud. If you've been trying to "do it all" and you feel like you're running on fumes, this episode is going to hit home. This week, I'm opening up about what 2025 really looked like behind the scenes — the pressure, the constant to-do lists, juggling motherhood and business, feeling stretched thin, and realizing that something has to shift moving into 2026. This isn't a New Year's resolution episode. It's an honest conversation about burnout, slowing down, letting go of unrealistic expectations, and finally choosing a year that feels different — calmer, more intentional, more spacious. Inside this video, we dive into: ✨ The emotional load of motherhood + business ✨ How burnout sneaks up even when you "love your life" ✨ Why constant hustle stops working ✨ The truth about tying your worth to numbers (weight, likes, revenue) ✨ How I'm redefining success for 2026 ✨ And why "doing less" might be the real glow-up Whether you're a bariatric patient, a mom, an entrepreneur, or someone who just feels fried from life… you're not alone. Watch until the end — I share the word I'm choosing for 2026, and it might inspire yours too.   BARIATRIC BREAKTHROUGH PROGRAM - ENROLLING NOW! The holidays bring enough chaos, the last thing you need is unsolicited comments about your body, food choices, or weight loss surgery. In this episode of Proffee & Chaos, Jamie gets real about one of the most important skills you'll ever build on your post-op journey: boundaries. She shares real scripts, mindset shifts, and tough-love reminders to help you honor your needs without letting people-pleasing run the show. If you're heading into your first holiday season after WLS or you're years post-op and still struggle with comments around food or your body, this conversation will help you breathe easier and feel more prepared. Struggling with regain? Feeling like you're doing "everything right" but the scale won't budge? You are not alone — and today's episode will hit home. In this brutally honest conversation, Jamie sits down with Rob DiMedio — bariatric patient, teacher, personal trainer, and creator of Busy Bariatrics and @myweightishistory — to unpack the real reasons post-op patients struggle with food noise, tracking obsession, regain, and conflicting advice. Together, they dig into the messy middle of bariatric life: macros vs. intentional eating, why calorie trackers can backfire, how chronic under-eating fuels bingeing, and the emotional weight of trying to "get it right" years after surgery. If you've ever felt ashamed, stuck, overwhelmed, or terrified of slipping back into old habits — this episode might be the permission slip you've needed. Watch until the end for insight on: ✨ Why tracking works for some people but destroys progress for others ✨ The truth about food noise (and how to quiet it) ✨ How cultural foods absolutely fit post-op ✨ Why sandwiches, potatoes & pasta aren't the enemy ✨ What regain actually means — and what it doesn't ✨ How to build meals that keep you full AND support weight loss ✨ GLP-1s, mindset, metabolism, and real-life bariatric living   🔗 LINKS FROM TODAY'S EPISODE Rob's Website → https://www.busybariatrics.com Rob's Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/myweightishistory/   BARIATRIC BREAKTHROUGH PROGRAM - ENROLLING NOW! If you've ever stood in your kitchen at 6pm thinking, What the hell am I going to cook for dinner? Welcome to the club, babe. Today's episode pulls the curtain back on what dinner actually looks like in real life… especially when you're post-op, juggling kids, working, and trying to not fall face-first into nighttime snacking. Jamie keeps it brutally honest (as always) about why dinner feels so overwhelming, why "bariatric-friendly" has gotten way too extreme, and how to build a balanced plate without feeling like you're meal-prepping for the military. From crockpot staples and girl-dinner plates to the "rotisserie chicken saves lives" movement, this episode gives you the permission you didn't even know you needed: food doesn't have to be fancy to count. Inside, you'll learn: Why perfectionism around dinner leads straight to grazing How to build a balanced plate using Jamie's Bariatric Breakthrough® Meal Plate Method Easy dinner ideas that don't require recipes, meal prep, or culinary skills The truth about pasta, bread, carbs, and why mixed meals still count Why under-eating at dinner fuels bingeing later How to stop making separate meals for your family and yourself This episode is for anyone 1–10+ years post-op who's exhausted, hungry, and tired of feeling like dinner determines their success. Trigger warning: In this episode, I talk about fertility struggles, TTC, perinatal depression, and a few mentions of vomiting. Please take care of yourself and skip or pause if you need to. Today I'm pulling back the curtain on my entire motherhood journey from being told at 14 that PCOS could make pregnancy hard, to choosing weight loss surgery, to an unexpectedly fast conception, and then… one of the hardest pregnancies imaginable. I share the reality of hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), preeclampsia, a planned C-section at 36 weeks, and the NICU plus the shock of postpartum relief when the nausea finally stopped. We also get real about identity shifts after baby, mom guilt, being the default parent, and how I'm rebuilding my routines as a working mom/entrepreneur. I talk about body image after WLS, why I did blind weigh-ins in pregnancy, the mindset that helped me release perfectionism, and how GLP-1s supported my postpartum season. If you're navigating TTC, pregnancy after bariatric surgery, postpartum chaos, or just need someone to say "you're not failing," this one's for you. 💡 What We Covered in Today's Episode PCOS diagnosis at 14, infertility fears, and how that shaped Jamie's decision to have WLS Pregnancy after bariatric surgery: GLP-1s, conception, hyperemesis gravidarum, preeclampsia, and a NICU stay The unexpected relief of postpartum, healing from prenatal depression, and identity shifts as a working mom Letting go of body shame, blind weigh-ins, postpartum weight loss without obsession The emotional weight of being the default parent and giving yourself permission to choose grace over perfection 💗 Thank You for Listening! In today's episode, Jamie gets real about perfectionism, ADHD, and letting go of the need to have it all together. She opens up about her adult ADHD diagnosis, years of masking anxiety behind overachievement, and how learning to take messy action changed everything — in motherhood, business, and her bariatric journey. This is the reminder every recovering perfectionist needs: it doesn't have to be perfect to be enough.   💡 What We Covered in Today's Episode How perfectionism shows up as control, people-pleasing, and burnout The connection between ADHD, anxiety, and all-or-nothing thinking Why "overachiever" isn't the same as "perfectionist" (and why that matters) How Jamie learned to embrace messy action in motherhood and business Letting go of comparison and showing up imperfectly in your bariatric journey Why progress, not perfection, leads to real peace and happiness   💗 Thank You for Listening! Embracing the Chaos

Embracing the Chaos

2025-10-0210:28

Welcome to Proffee & Chaos, the podcast where we get real about life after weight loss surgery, without the highlight reel. I'm Jamie, your host, a registered dietitian, bariatric patient, new mom, and self-proclaimed chaos coordinator. For years, I hesitated to add one more thing to the chaos of my life. But after countless requests from my community, I knew it was time to create a space that's raw, unfiltered, and truly supportive. This podcast isn't about telling you to "eat your protein" or "drink your water" (you already know that). Instead, it's about pulling back the curtain on the messy reality of bariatric life and everything that comes with it - GLP-1s, ADHD, motherhood, entrepreneurship, comparison, imposter syndrome, and the daily struggles no one talks about. If you've ever felt overwhelmed, behind, or like you're failing at this journey, you're in the right place. Here, imperfect is enough. Grab your proffee, pull up a chair, and join the Chaos Crew for honest conversations, laughter, and connection.   What You'll Hear in This Trailer: Who I am and why I created Proffee & Chaos The real story behind my bariatric journey and social media presence What to expect from upcoming episodes (nutrition, GLP-1s, ADHD, motherhood, entrepreneurship & more) Why this podcast isn't about perfection, it's about real life, messy moments, and finding community How to join the Chaos Crew and stay connected   ✨ Hit subscribe now so you never miss an episode.
