Description

Hey Sis, Eat This is a celebration of food, entertaining, and funny family tales hosted by sisters, Courtney & Whitney. Inspired by their mom, AKA Momma Ashley, a caterer who happens to know a thing or two about eat'n, drink'n, and tell'n stories! The sisters gather each week to gab about funny Momma Ashley stories, the hits and misses of their weekly menus, and parties thrown. Sibling guests join them to recount funny stories of holiday celebrations, family trips, and what it was like at their childhood dinner table. In each episode there is something new to learn about cooking and hosting while also recognizing the laughter and joy mothers provide us with daily.

Join sisters Courtney and Whitney for a cocktail-fueled episode as they sip martinis and recount the usual insanity of their daily lives. On today's menu, a drunken dance competition, co-parenting wins, followed by major kitchen conundrums as well as a candid look at the LA Marathon. In cooking news, Courtney's kitchen confidence is at an all-time low after dealing with spider-infested sesame seeds and a disastrous attempt at Momma Ashley's crack pie. Meanwhile, Whitney recounts her battle with live lobsters that simply wouldn't cooperate and a highly touted "olive-fed" rib-eye that fell short of expectations. Then, as they gear up for their upcoming Birthday weekend in Joshua Tree, the sisters attempt to brainstorm a menu that won't stink up the house but will meet everyone's dietary needs.  Then… The LA Marathon? It's been ruining their Sunday plans for years, and this time, they're not holding back. After nearly running out of gas in the middle of marathon traffic, Courtney begrudgingly joins the race on foot after years of cursing it's existence. This episode is fun and it's funny and will make you want to join the Sisters' latest movement #FuckTheLAMarathon Love you, love your show! This week on Hey Sis, Eat This, Whitney takes Momma Ashley on a luxury bus to Austin, where Mom tries a Waymo for the first time and then listens to last week's episode only to declare, "Y'all are idiots," leaving Courtney convinced she's suddenly on probation. The sisters chalk it up to Momma running her own assisted living facility while caring for Aunt Karen, who slipped on kitty litter and broke her leg. Meanwhile, Whitney mixes vodka Diet Dr. Peppers in lieu of pain meds, and Courtney reports back from a "panty dropper" mushroom lunch at LA staple Gjelina. This week, Courtney and Whitney introduce their new opening segment, "Momma Said What?," a weekly recap of the funniest, sweetest, and WTF things their beloved Momma Ashley has said or done recently. But Momma's weekly "funny" involving a blown transformer and broken microwave reminded Courtney of a recent run‑in with their dad at the hair salon, where he put on one of his famous one‑man shows about his Bristol Farms grocery‑store debacle. The crackups continue as the sisters touch on Courtney's silent staredown with comedian Bill Hader in L.A., adding to her list of awkward celebrity run‑ins, as well as Courtney getting permission from her doctor to continue eating her Joe & the Juice spicy tuna sandwiches after Whitney's concern about mercury poisoning from her regular consumption of her favorite lunch. Thank God at least one sister is still cooking these days—and that sister is Whitney! Learn how an attempt at a prime‑rib sandwich a la Hillstone became a whole new, delicious recipe by accident. Tune in to hear the sisters dish on the latest and greatest in their lives as they gear up for the official launch of Season 5 filled with Mommas and siblings and recipes, oh my! In this episode, Momma Ashley is in the house! With the annual Snowmageddon coming to Dallas, Momma and Whitney are panic-shopping like it's pre-COVID with plans to cook all weekend. Courtney calls in from LA, chomping at the bit to hear Momma and Whitney recap their incredible meet-and-greet with Somebody Feed Phil creator Phil Rosenthal. Momma brought Phil her famous Pinch of Texas brownies while Whitney pitched him on coming to Hey Sis with his brother. They both can't stop gushing about how genuinely nice Phil was. Courtney shares that she's deep in the emotional trenches of parenting her teenage daughters and wants to know from Momma if she and Whitney were "real mean" when they were teens. Momma's sage advice for those teenage years? "It's always about them and they don't want to do what you want to do. The sooner you learn that mommy, the better off you're going to be." After paying tribute to the one-year anniversary of the Los Angeles fires last week, Courtney and Whitney finally circle back to their usual nonsense including questionable food, wood conundrums and the slow realization that everyone they know is either perimenopausal or allergic to something. The sisters recap Christmas and NYE from Dallas to Broken Bow to Vegas, including bathtub braised short ribs, sea bass in tomato "Comcast,"  and  why Caesar salad was banned during "Divorce Boot Camp!" Courtney shares highlights from a perimenopause documentary premiere involving monks, hormone replacement therapy, and a missed opportunity to yell "cougar puberty" in a packed theater. Whitney counters with walkie-talkie role play and the emotional toll of relinquishing menu control. It's that time of year when the Texas mountain cedar is taking everyone down, including Momma Ashley. The sisters swap stories about Momma's outdoor nap that led to her yearly bout of laryngitis, but that won't stop her from calling both girls to check in despite having no voice. In honor of the one-year anniversary of the LA fires, we're replaying one of the most raw episodes we've ever recorded, captured in real time as Courtney was navigating the fires, divorce, and displacement. After the replay, we sit down together to reflect on what's changed, what's healed, and what she's learned about love, family, and resilience one year later. In the last episode of 2025, Courtney and Whitney are coordinating matching sweaters, planning holiday caroling routes, and discussing why their Momma Ashley needs a "find vibrator" post-it reminder. They revisit last year's caroling outing, which started as an impromptu evening with family, and now seems to be turning into a neighborhood-wide production. Courtney imagines 40 people trying to squeeze onto a porch to sing Jingle Bells while Whitney envisions top hats and petticoats à la Charles Dickens era singing Holly and the Ivy. Together they devise a hilarious plan that will split the generations, spread some holiday cheer, and hopefully not piss off Momma Ashley. Speaking of Momma…Whitney has Courtney ROFL when she shares how Momma recently confessed that she had lost Whitney's "vibrator" that she was using to ease her neck pain. The two sisters barely recover to thank all of the amazing listeners and supporters they've had throughout the year. We'll leave you with a quote from The Ashley Family's favorite holiday movie… "We're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse." Courtney and Whitney step straight into a world of pure imagination when they welcome Christina, Dan, and Christopher Abel, the family behind the 350-year-old Bissinger's Chocolate legacy. The sisters learn what it was really like growing up in a working chocolate factory, from sneaking chocolate graham crackers off the line, bribing teachers with chocolate (allegedly), and surviving a chocolate conundrum when the factory floor ended up covered in 400 pounds of melted chocolate. At the center of it all is their mom, the Matriarch of Sweetness, Momma Rosalie. Along with her husband Dan Sr., she started Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate, named for their three kids, before acquiring Bissinger's in 2019. She cooked 29 out of 30 nights, dressed up as the Easter Bunny when needed, and somehow built a family business that still eats lunch together every single day. By the end, the sisters are planning a trip to St. Louis to eat chocolate and drink wine with the siblings at their latest venture The Chocolate Cafe. It's a tour through childhood memories, family loyalty, and the kind of success you only get when your Momma passes on the gift of sweetness. This week, the sisters and Momma Ashley breakdown Thanksgiving 2025. In Dallas, Momma and Whitney go out for Thanksgiving for the first time ever while Courtney was in Los Angeles cooking up all of the Ashley Family faves for The Dads including an apricot 'mousse' that requires ingredients only found on eBay. They compare notes on Momma's controversial Uncle Ben's dressing shortcut, Courtney's "perfectly fine" rotten orange cranberry relish, and Whitney's devotion to the Ross Geller–inspired moisture-maker sandwich.  Momma also shares memories of her childhood Thanksgivings at Graham's house, where the adults didn't drink, the table could seat half of Dallas, and moving up from the kids' table basically required a divorce or a funeral. Maybe it was the turkey tryptophan, but Courtney found herself channeling Granddaddy during a Thanksgiving meditation session, which sparks a full-blown assessment of spirits, signs, and who exactly is overseeing Courtney's love life. Tune in for a Thanksgiving recap that proves you're not the only one with a crazy family!" The sisters are finally catching their breath after pulling off what might be Whitney's most ambitious idea yet: turning her house into a full 1920s speakeasy for Lance's 50th. Whitney admits there was no way she and Lance could have managed it without Courtney, her college bestie Amber, and Amber's husband Bruno coming to town to move furniture, crank out dozens of floral arrangements, and still find the energy to party until almost 4 a.m. They barely recover before shifting into Thanksgiving mode where Courtney's cooking for the dads in LA and Whitney, Lance, Momma Ashley, and Big D are going out for Thanksgiving for the first time ever. Courtney also shares a truly memorable call from her ex-husband about the insurance team inventorying their old Palisades house… including one item she never imagined hearing repeated back to her. Whitney then confesses she recently learned a past gift from Lance had a far more innocent purpose than the one she'd imagined. To wrap it all up, Whitney fills Courtney in on her latest conversation with Momma, who revealed her extremely unconventional method for ripening tomatoes leaving the sisters wondering why it has to involve Momma's bed. In this episode, Whitney shows up in costume, Courtney confesses to home economic conundrum and the two recap their recent trip to Washington, DC. Last week the sisters went to the capital to interview leading marketers at The Room Brand Summit. They heard a touching keynote from Linda Roth at World Central Kitchen Courtney that had them ditching afternoon sessions in favor of having a panty dropper feast at Jose Andres restaurant Zaytinya. They also give a shout out to Rachel Goldflam, CMO of Sneex, after wearing the stylish heeled sneakers through a full day of talking and walking. Courtney goes on to shares a laugh-out-loud story involving caramel-infused ironing mishaps that left her napkins smelling like cookies. Whitney tells the tale of the Besheret bus and the art of embarrassing teenagers for sport. They wrap it up with their to-do list for Whitney's hubs, Lance's speakeasy birthday bash and all the planning still to come.  And on that note... Happy 50th Birthday, Lance! You're the unicorn of husbands, most supportive brother in law, and savviest of business partners. We could never do this without you. Love you, Love your Show! This week on Hey Sis, Eat This, Courtney and Whitney chat with Rachel Holtzman, the woman behind more than sixty co-authored books with names like Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen, Eden Grinshpan's Tahini Baby, Alicia Silverstone, Tiffani Thiessen, and Robin Quivers. Rachel shares how her path took her from the glossy Elle magazine world to the kitchen at Gramercy Tavern, blending her love of storytelling and food into a career helping others bring their ideas to life. She explains how she captures each client's authentic voice, creates space for vulnerability, and helps authors tell stories that feel personal and true. And then there is Momma Lois. Rachel learned early on that her love of food might come from childhood buffet trips where she perfected the art of a Caesar salad topped with fried calamari. She also credits her mom for her curiosity and drive. Lois is the kind of woman who once decided to learn how to make lattes at Starbucks just to understand the system, and her favorite piece of advice still guides Rachel today: "You can make your life as easy or as hard as you want to." Pull up a plate and listen in for stories that'll leave you hungry, inspired, and maybe rethinking your next buffet strategy. After their annual trip to the State Fair of Texas, Courtney and Whitney recap the adventurous day of eating corny dogs, drinking Mustard flavored beer, and riding a ridiculously large swing that had Courtney scared AF. With Momma Ashley in toe, they hit all of the fair highlights including the famous butter sculpture, enormous hog balls, and some last minute nachos. Next, Courtney and Whitney swap their signature martinis for beer flights with Cody Martin and Dylan Stefanos of Fort Worth based Martin House Brewing Co. in Fort Worth, TX. The brothers share how an engineer's curiosity turned into Texas' most inventive brewery where they're brewing a new flavor every week including their Mustard Beer for the State Fair or Texas. Raised by Momma Cara, a woman they describe as patient, giving, and understanding, it's clear where they learned their grounded approach to life and business. Her mix of compassion and grit comes through in every story, the kind of mom who drinks a pot of black coffee before sunrise, listens without judgment, and somehow always knows when to step in or let her children figure it out. Between sibling stories, questionable flavor experiments, and a few laugh-out-loud tasting moments, it is a Texas-size hang that is equal parts beer talk and brotherly banter. This week on Hey Sis, Eat This, things get a little fishy…literally. Courtney, Whitney, and Momma Ashley dish on everything from a dangerously delicious tuna sandwiches, to Momma's canned meat creations and Fall inspired recipes. The episode kicks off with Whitney's concern that Courtney is one panini away from mercury poisoning due to her obsession with the tuna mousse sandwich at her "office" Joe & the Juice. Meanwhile, Momma's been busy catering a top-secret wedding (that isn't so secret anymore) after telling everyone about the menu at her monthly book club. Even more shocking is the lunch she served at book club, a retro "meat mousse" made with deviled ham that has the girls gagging.  They round out the episode with their latest fall favorites. Whitney declares her Lemony, Parmy White Beans a total panty dropper, while Courtney shows off her pumpkin pie topped with Momma's famous praline — which she's now putting on just about anything that stands still.  They also give a sneak peek at next week's boozy brewery episode with the Martin House Brewing Co. brothers, Cody and Dylan. Martin House Brewing Co. brothers, Cody and Dylan. And just when you think it's over, Courtney gets a surprise visit that scares her worse than Whitney's Halloween decorations. It's a sweet one this week — literally. Momma Ashley and Whitney earned a shared second place at the North Haven Gardens Pie Contest for the bourbon pecan pie, though Whitney is still convinced the family's crack pie was robbed after being completely devoured before voting ended. Courtney shares her own baking adventure of making three dozen brownies for the school carnival, which somehow required five grocery runs in one morning. And because she's always thinking ahead, Momma pitches North Haven Garden on cooking classes using their herbs and veggies, turning pie day into her next big idea. The sisters kick things off with an update on Courtney's new house and her adventures in DIY furniture building. From proudly assembling a credenza and nightstand to a late-night dresser disaster that left an IKEA manager accusing her of "furniture abuse," Courtney learns the hard way when to pick up the power drill—and when to put it down in favor of rosé. With her walls still bare, Courtney sets her sights on Daddy Ashley's art collection, but his non-committal response sparks a new sisterly scheme: pitching him on turning her home into a gallery where guests can buy the art right off the walls. Courtney also shares the emotional reveal of Vivi's "dream room," the teenage dance crew already taking over the podcast studio, and the satisfaction of settling into a space that finally feels like home. Meanwhile, Whitney has been jet-setting to New York. She dishes on a wedding weekend, an unforgettable dinner at Israeli hotspot Shmoné, and a surprise run-in with Hey Sis alum Chef Lior, better known as The Spice King. From there, she takes us inside The Room Women's Summit NYC "room-union" lunch, where a six-hour feast somehow included recipes for hiding the taste of magic mushrooms. Whitney wraps with one last New York story: a rain-soaked martini meet-cute that led to the planning of the very first "Panty Dropper Dinner Party." Hey Y'all! Whitney and Courtney are back at it with another Sister's Dish Summer addition of Hey Sis, Eat This, talking about Courtney's big move into her first solo place post-divorce—and actually, her FIRST solo place EVER! The sisters unpack (no pun intended) this monumental milestone in Courtney's life and reflect on how the time together reminded them of the days when they were roommates moving into their first Los Angeles apartment. Courtney is not shy about professing her gratitude for Whitney's superhero effort in taking charge of the move—doing everything from making G-sheets, assembling furniture, ordering power tools, and setting up TVs. Whitney then revealed herself as the MacGyver of home improvement, proudly using AI to help with IKEA furniture assembly, much to Courtney's surprise when she discovered her sister's hidden talent for furniture building. The girls also dish on their three-day cheese binge, including a raclette extravaganza at their new favorite local spot, Kutsaa, and share a hilarious story about Courtney overdosing on magnesium that had her questioning everything. This episode is all about celebrating growth, sisterhood, and all the funny, messy moments that make life sweet. Tune in for laughs, love, and a reminder that no matter what milestone you're facing, you've got a sister right there with you. Let's get into it! It's another summer sister catch-up on Hey Sis, Eat This! While Whitney was jet-setting off to a women's Summit in South Carolina and picking up peaches from The Peach Truck in Fort Worth, Courtney's been deep in furniture shopping for her new house and driving the 'Beshert Bus' aka kid carpool.  Whitney spills the sweet tea about her recent trip to The Room's 3rd Annual Women's Leadership Summit, including Momma Ashley's famous Pinch of Texas brownies in the gift bags, a hilarious tip from Susie Sarich (of SusieCakes) about eating in Japan, and the new trending name for menopause that had the sisters ROFL...Cougar Puberty! She shares takeaways from interviews she had with badass women marketers like the influence of our mommas and the brand slogans that stuck with us from childhood to which Courtney breaks out in one of Daddy Ashley's jingles from the 80's for Church's Chicken. Courtney takes a moment to praise former guest Caroline D'Amore who bravely opened up to the sisters about her face to face encounter with Jeffrey Epstein. With all the recent news of the case, they chat about Caroline's advocacy for women, the ongoing fight for justice, and why it's so crucial for women to let their voices be heard. Courtney tries to sign off, but Whitney gets in one last word that sums up the vibe: welcome to Peach Girl Summer.
