Max Dougherty is many things… An astrologer, a Mystic, a transformational coach and an activator. I've been working with him now for over a year and he has been each of these things to me… And a lot more! In this conversation we talk about how spirit comes to Max, overcoming a pain pill addiction, finding out about past lives and I show firsthand what HIA is all about… Healing In Action.  I find it hard to describe my journey with Max in words. Sometimes it feels very otherworldly. We have shared visions of past lives not only with Max and I, but with a great friend and part of this journey, LaLa Deaton. LaLa was on my last podcast with Robby Blair and she's a big part of this conversation today. I did my best to bring a voice to what I have experienced with Max over the last year. Yes he's an astrologer and reads the star charts. But it's the way he delivers the message and the intuition behind it, that has helped me in my healing journey.  Honestly, I've had a hard time telling people I'm working with an astrologer. It feels kind of woo woo… And it is… In the most amazing way. I love woo woo now and it is a big part of my life because I realize there is so much more to reality than what we've been told. Max is finding his voice just like I'm finding mine. I could've talked to him for another couple hours and we will definitely do another podcast in the future.  Enjoy this journey with Max Dougherty and it is my hope that I was able to create the words that convey how magical, mystical and supernatural both Max's talents are and my transformation has been since I've been working with Max. My guest today is a wonderful breathwork facilitator, and a very good friend of mine. I met Kristi Locks about a year and a half ago, and since then have gone through so much growth with her. We belong to a meditation WhatsApp group together and she donates her time and expertise once a week with our group to learn breathwork. The way Kristi creates her breathwork ceremonies is very unique, and it affects me, and the whole group, in a very emotional way.  In this podcast, I talk to her about how she comes up with her breathwork ceremonies, and what got her into breath work to begin with. Kristi is amazingly gracious and vulnerable talking about her background, and the trauma that breathwork has helped her overcome. Kristi is helping me on my healing journey so much right now as we are both diving into the work of Dr. Sue Mortar and seeing how that compliments the work of Dr Joe Dispenza. Combine that with breathwork and amazing things are happening in my body.   Learn more about Kristi Locks and her wonderful breathwork Www.Surrenderwithkristi.com    Dive into Dr Joe Dispenza and his amazing work.  Www.drjoedispenza.com   Learn about Dr. Sue Morter and her energy codes that help build circuits in the body. Leland introduction   The breath… Is so essential for our well-being. Without it, we don't survive long at all. And yet…it's easily taken for granted. It happens automatically, we don't have to think about it. Ancient cultures knew the value of the breath, and it was revered and utilized. Today we're so busy with so many things that we forget one of the best medicines we can have is readily available, doesn't take a prescription and is beneficial in ways that more people need to know about.   My guest today is a man who knows about the breath very well. His name is Leland Holgate Sr and he started learning about the breath by accident… Actually due to an accident. As a young man, he was involved in a boating accident, which left him a quadriplegic. Fortunately, the physical therapist assigned to him was also a Yogi who knew a lot about ancient breath, yoga and their benefits to the body. Doctors said there was no cure and we're preparing him for life in a wheelchair. His military training and sensation He felt during the breath told him something different.    Today Leland is fully functioning and has created the Willful Warrior. A nonprofit helping change lives through the breath work Leland has created over the last decade. He's a studying neuropsychologist with an upcoming double doctorate. He knows the science behind the breath and I love the way he explains it. The Willful Warrior Welcome Home Method is a breath practice that activates gene expression that up-regulates health in every aspect of the body and brain… It also has a very positive affect on the mind and emotions. When the breath is done properly, there's a biochemical shift away from the hormones of stress and increasing the happy hormones like oxytocin, dopamine, serotonin and endorphins. I completely geek out with him about what's going on in the body when we do the breath.    Leland's experience coming from a wheelchair has been invaluable for me.  I met him at a Dr. Joe Dispenza event in Niagara Falls in September 2022. He was a volunteer at the event. Every Dr Joe event I have been to, the volunteers are absolutely amazing. So ready to help with authentic and enormous hearts. Leland is a perfect example of this. I've been fortunate to be able to interact with Leland on a regular basis, and when I have days where doubt and fear creep in… I've been able to reach out to him and get support from a man who knows what I'm talking about. He's been in my shoes… Or in my seat I should say.   I love synchronicities when the universe provides them. Before we started this podcast something very exciting happened that Leland was able to share. One of the warriors in this community has had MS for a couple years and has been doing the breath for a couple months. Right before we started the podcast Leland got the news that she had just gotten an MRI with a die test and the doctors say her MS is no longer visible. In remission! I love how he got this news right before we started talking and what a beautiful sign it is… Knowing the symptoms in this body are definitely helped by doing the breath work.    I got involved with The Willful Warrior and started doing the breath after I came back from the Dr Joe Cancun event in December 2022. As of right now I've been doing it a couple months. The biggest thing I've noticed with this technique is I get to a place where I completely leave my body… I feel like I'm floating out of my wheelchair…being pulled up to the sky. It is an amazing feeling and I know without a doubt my body is receiving the upgraded chemicals, and I am up regulating my genes. Leland talks about when he was first paralyzed. He would do the breath and feel more sensation 1 inch at a time. Reiterating that you got to notice the  little things and those add up when you continue to do the work. www.thewillfulwarrior.org thewilfulwarrior@gmail.com
My guest is Robby Blair. I met him at a Dr Joe retreat in Cancun in December 2022. He is shifting my experience here on earth with his energy, his music and his drive. He has had a calling recently… Telling him it is "time to wake up the world needs us". Throughout his life, Robby has had mystical experiences that he didn't know how to explain…so he shied away from them. after the Niagara Falls Dr Joe event in September 2022, some things happened that can't be ignored. The universe tapped Robby on the shoulder repeatedly and he's not shying away this time. He is stepping in to the challenge of changing the world.  He is driven to share this message and is spreading it within two new meditation groups he is fostering.  The Dot Connector's and the Morning Warriors. We are family… Holding hands and walking each other home. There is a natural trust that allows vulnerability… Which is where the magic to change exists. Robby is a musician. He shared a single of his with me in Cancun called life and I got addicted to it. His new single entitled Revelation has got me hooked as well. As a musician, with Dr Joe knowledge, he says he's not creating music…He's creating energy in the form of music.  Robby is like a brother to me and it feels like I've known him forever. Since we share similar thought processes and patterns, we are able to communicate ideas clearly. This is helping me discover more about me which is what this path is all about.   Robby's Instagram  @rb_31_quantum_life @robbyblairmusic   Robby's email rb31life@gmail.com   Search Robby Blair on your favorite platform to find his music.
My guest today is Dr. Carolyn McMakin. Since 1997 she has been a pioneer in the study of frequency specific microcurrent and how it creates resonance in the human body. She is the author of the "resonance effect - how frequency specific microcurrent is changing medicine. She also wrote the literal textbook on FSM. She has a chiropractic practice in the state of Oregon.  Along with her clinical practice, she participates in research and teaches seminars on the use of FSM. Since 1997, 1000's of practitioners around the world have taken the FSM seminar and use this amazing technique. FSM is helping patients recover from myofascial pain, fibromyalgia, sports injuries, concussion, PTSD, and many other health concerns. For over 25 years she has been jumping through the regulatory hurdles of the FDA and AMA, and others, in order to keep FSM available. I am so thankful for the work that she's done.  The protocols she's created to help people overcome chronic illness and pain that Western medicine says is incurable. Everything in this world is made of energy. Nikola Tesla, once said, if you want to find the secrets of the universe… Think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.  This podcast is about the energy that connects us and the role it plays in our health, humanity and Mother Gaia.  My guest is Jill Goux…that's GOUX. Jill calls herself The Energy Renovator. As an intuitive transformational coach, energy healer, master dowser and spiritual teacher, she's been helping people for almost 3 decades to clean up their energy, and understand how to navigate from day to day. She teaches simple and profound tools and techniques that she has mastered over the years.   Here is a quote from her website which explains Jill very well… "Empowering conscious women who are highly sensitive empaths to better understand and manage their energetic systems so they can expand their purpose and step into their power with more ease, grace, and flow." Recently, Jill has been called to travel the country and change the energy. She has packed up her house, put it in storage and started what she calls the Trip The Light Tour.  She is traveling around the country and connecting with amazing people, to expand the heart and raise the vibration of this country through crystal gridding and sound. Jill performs a ceremony at each location she visits and buries activated crystals that tap into transformational timelines and support a New World paradigm to emerge. Her journey is about gathering  momentum as a collective group to share our gifts, create beautiful connections, expand heart centered energy, and anchor light. Jill and I talk about how it takes practice to change our belief systems and how being an empath is a strength not a weakness. Jill has helped countless people over the years to navigate the energy we live in on a day-to-day basis. Not to take on the energy from other people or let it drain you. She explains what it was like when she found her super powers (that's what I call anyone's intuitive abilities) and how stepping into the unknown can be scary as hell. I truly enjoyed my conversation with Jill! To connect with Jill or support her Trip The Light Tour go to: www.JillGoux.com
Dealing with a chronic illness, of any kind, is more than just a physical journey.  It's an emotional and spiritual path as well. Mind body and spirit.  My guest today is Simon Harris  and he has been helping me with the emotional healing part of my path. Simon is the third member of The Freedom Project along with Scott and Em who were the guests on my last podcast. He has been helping me through a process called freedom activation.  Simply put, this involves writing down statements about people, places and events in your life which you think about chronically. You attach words and your voice to trapped emotion and residual energy with the goal of finding resolution to old thoughts and habits by realizing they don't matter anymore. Simon has helped me through many difficult stages of my emotional healing. He has helped me understand what forgiveness is, what self-love is all about and how ultimately, this path is not about the healing… It's about who you become in the process. I've been on a journey of personal transformation. A journey to rediscover how I am REALLY doin'. A paradigm shift has occurred for me and in this podcast I bring a different perspective that I hope will open some eyes and begin conversation. I've never REALLY shared my background in my podcast and it is time for me to do so. I have gone down the rabbit hole in order to find a way to feel better. MS has never felt like me and I'm on a path to find, and define, my truth. In doing this I discovered Dr. Joe Dispenza. I'll describe his work in my life and how it led me to my guests today. Scott Sunderland and Em Hollis are living proof of personal transformation and healing. They each have amazing individual stories and they have come together to create The Freedom Project.  I've been taking their course called Beyond Limits and it has stretched me to overcome my past and step into my future.   Scott Sunderland -  from paralyzed to walking! https://youtu.be/9DaHg-AUY2o Great podcasts with Dr. Joe Impact Theory w/ Tom Bilyeu - awesome explanation of how stress hormones make us sick https://youtu.be/La9oLLoI5Rc Aubrey Marcus - Dr. Joe dig deep into the science behind this work. https://youtu.be/mh-a4dpF93g Lewis Howes - Dr. Joe talked about finding love in your life https://youtu.be/YYCnOnZ7zyI London Real w/Brian Rose - Dr. Joe explains how he healed his broken back https://youtu.be/-WVu-OzCE9Y Danica Patrick - explains the four minute mile https://youtu.be/x9XvQKhzBlE Overcoming MS testimonials Sue - daily meditation and envisioning MRI with decreased lesions came true. https://youtu.be/BHDo99d9Xuo Damien - The power of the walking meditation. How much you believe… In yourself? Can you put your feet on the ground in the morning are you focusing on your power… Or limitations? Chloe Cohen was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS in 1998. She had a Trumatic head injury and within hours she was having tremors on her left side. She was only 20 years old and an aspiring cellist. That all changed. The early years after diagnosis were lonely for Chloe as they are for a lot of us. In order to find some people to share with, she cofounded an MS support group. And I'm so thankful she did. I've been involved with this group since 2007 and you can see Chloe's personality stamp on it because the meetings are always very positive and upbeat. Like she is. I have known Chloe for over 10 years and that time I have seen her belief, trust herself skyrocket. It hasn't been easy, but she's created a recipe That allows her power to shine despite any limitations the MS has brought on. Chloe knows she didn't get MS at such a young age to cry about it. She's here to teach and share her story. Whether it be in the gym and lifting more weight than she ever thought she could, speaking at MS events or in her writing She is a true example of how hard work, tenacious persistence and soulful desire can lead to amazing things. Chloe has written a book and the ebook comes out in May 2019. Chloe and I have been honored to be involved in the most recent national MS Society's awareness campaign. Through black-and-white pictures and heartfelt videos we got to tell our stories and it was profoundly touching for both of us. In this podcast Chloe mentions walking in the photo shoot while I was getting my picture taken and it brought her to tears. I think that's the power of this campaign in that it touches our soul. For me it's my daughters. For Chloe it's the loss of her musical abilities.   Buy Chloe's book - https://www.amazon.com/Making-Lemonade-out-Lemons-Story-ebook/dp/B07PGR64T7/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Chloe+Cohen&qid=1552144568&s=books&sr=1-2   Whatever It Takes Campaign -  pics and videos of Chloe and Jim - www.nationalMSsociety.org/Chloe
Mark and Tamara Teeter are two of my favorite people. We are on the same bike team together, Team RoadKill, and Every time I see them, I feel better. Tamara is the warmest gentlest soul with the greatest laugh on earth. And Mark is a former traveling deadhead and scout master with fantastically intriguing stories and the biggest heart. They are high school sweethearts who got a big relationship test when Tamara was diagnosed. Marriage isn't easy to begin with. Throw in a chronic illness like Multiple Sclerosis and it becomes critical to find common ground, a language you can speak together in order to remain strong together. Mark and Tamara went through a tough time after diagnosis and discovered how vulnerability and speaking the truth is a necessity and a way to ease the stresses, the uncertainty, that MS brings on a daily basis. Mark and Tamara have found a good recipe for themselves and can attest to the importance of sharing. Not only sharing struggles but the good stuff too. As a person with MS, I don't think you can ever underestimate the power and relief that focusing on the good stuff provides. It took a while for Tamara to fully open up about her tough symptoms and what she found was that sometimes sharing the things that scare you the most is exactly what helps you the most.  As a support partner Mark was ready and willing to help, he just needed the right words to know how to do so. Have a listen as Mark and Tamara let you know how they REALLY did it to get to where they can truthfully talk about how they are REALLY doing now.
Team Road Kill is more than a MS bike team. TRK is a testament to the overall fact that people are good. Human connection and supporting the person next to you is what they are all about. Their motto is simply GO! They GO after living life fully, they GO! after bike riding and they GO! after finding a cure for MS. Ron Haye was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS in 2010 when he committed himself to keep moving. Both physically and emotionally. Ron is the embodiment of GO!  As one of the founders of TRK he has helped create one of the largest bike teams in the Pacific Northwest with over 100 riders. The team has raised over $250,000 for the MS cause and they do so by putting the FUN in fundraising. TRK events include a casino bus, a poker night, a corn hole tournament and the big daddy of them all...BrewFest for MS. For this podcast I parked my van outside the Brickhouse Tavern in Vancouver Washington and talked to some TRK members during BrewFest. Ron Haye, his wife Terry, son Steven and two huge TRK contributors Mike Johansen and Robert Stuart.  I'm very thankful to be a part of this team and be surrounded by such amazing people. Their team motto says it all and is a reminder of what is good for all of us to do…GO!
Carol Moiso is a fighter!  She was diagnosed with Primary Progressive MS in 1991 when she was 47 years old.  She may be in a wheelchair to get around now but that doesn't stop her from challenging herself to swim across the Columbia river or ride 10 miles during Bike MS.  She's a proud grandma with a great sense of humor and a desire to do everything possible with her grandkids.  So she fights.  Fights her MS symptoms to be the best she can be.
Andy Becker was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS when he was 30 years old.  At that time he was a pack-a-day smoker and addicted to video games.  Sometimes playing 16 hours-a-day.  Getting his MS news was a wake up call for Andy. He is now addicted to endurance sports and knows the true meaning of self-care.
auGi is how he spells his name, it's not a typo, and yes, I believe he is cool enough to not only pull off one name but spell it however he wants. auGi is a man of many talents… Dare I say a Renaissance man. He's a musician, a comedian, a graphic artist, a writer, a performer, he’s traveled the world and he's one helluva storyteller. He has written and performed his own one-man show, called SexyNurd, about his life’s desire to be a rock star commingled with his experience with MS.  auGi doesn't have MS but his experience runs deep as his mom lived with it for 34 years and it is in her memory that he brings all his amazingly wonderful talents to the MS cause.  auGi is the Vice President of Marketing and Events for the Oregon Chapter of the MS Society. As you’ll hear, he literally changed his career and his life’s direction because he doesn’t want others to suffer with MS like his mom did. You can also learn more about auGi on his blog at www.stopmakingthatnoise.com (spoiler alert...you will learn auGi's last name but don't let that destroy how cool I think he is)
Leslie is one of those people who you meet and walk away feeling better for doing so.  She radiates positive energy from her core.  I am a huge believer that our mindset effects and determines the course of our disease and of course our life.  When Leslie was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting MS 4 years ago she didn't let it stop her life or positive attitude.  Today she is in better physical shape because exercise has become such a huge part of her daily routine.  Just ask her and she'll flex for you.  She did for me and I was blown away...as I was with her exuberance for life.  She is a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and like their Steel Curtain defense, Leslie is STRONG.
Man have I discovered a lot about myself.  Who I am and how that effects my MS on a daily basis.  Skeletons from my past along with negative self talk have NOT been helping me be the best I can be.  So I found a life coach, Angela Carey, who has helped me discover the negative pieces of me that have been toxic while exploring the good, positive pieces that I need to live a full life in the face of MS.  This is a podcast about my way of making the best of what I've got.  I believe Great Freedom comes from True Vulnerability so get ready for a ride through my mind and how it is making my MS journey beautiful. Angela Carey is my life coach that I talk so much about in this Discoverycast.  She has literally changed my life and I can't thank her enough.  Check her out at www.yourpowercenter.com

#3 - Nora kb

2015-10-2301:17:35

Yes I know #3 doesn't come after #14 but I had to take Nora's podcast down for technical reasons.  Now it's back.  Nora has had MS for just about a year yet she enlightens me to a new way of looking at things through her incredible sense of humor and age-defying outlook. On June 16th, 2013, at the age of 26, Nora was diagnosed with acute sudden onset of tumefactive multiple sclerosis and lost the the use of her left side over the course of a day and a half.  She spent 6 weeks in the hospital working hard to regain function and come to terms with this new way of life.  During that time she wrote a blog which is an honest, well written chronicle of her MS journey.  I suggest everyone with MS, heck everyone period, read this (msnorakb.tumblr.com) because Nora's amazing perspective can teach us all a thing or two.
Andrea has continued to hijack my podcast to ask me questions about finding inspiration, Staying Gold and the importance of talking to others.  And of course we cover Andrea's big passion, Walk MS!
Andrea is the Manager of Walk MS for the Oregon Chapter of the MS Society.  She has so much energy that I wish I could bottle it and hand it out as a cure for MS fatigue.  She is also that person who stands out in a crowd because of her laughter.  Andrea doesn't have MS...she has a passion for helping people with MS.  She is also an extrovert and LOVES being around people, has a great perspective on how she relates to people with MS and passes on information about the MS Society that you may not know.  And oh yeah, she knows a lot about Walk MS and must have a budding desire to have her own podcast because she takes over and interviews ME.
