Kerri'd Away

We take a quick break from our Olympic Preview episodes to recap the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, a tournament with a lot of drama as Kerri Einarson puts a cap on her quad with a fifth Scotties victory on the back of a shot that will go down as one of the sport's best ever. We discuss what it means for Kerri and her team heading into both the Worlds and next season, and we also take a look at which of the Scotties rookies (and there were many!) impressed us the most. Plus, it took Kaitlyn Lawes almost the entire quad but she and her team finally delivered their signature performance with an undefeated run to the finals, coming a Kerri miracle shot away from a victory. Where do they go from here? We answer that and more as we take a look at the week that was in Mississauga. This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling, the Choice of Champions. For all your equipment and apparel needs, head to goldlinecurling.com.
We are back to our regularly-scheduled 4-person team previews and this time around, we are covering two of the teams we think are the most intriguing in the field, and they're both from the same country: Sweden. Niklas Edin has had a very bumpy quad but he's the defending Olympic Gold Medallist and he won the Europeans in the fall, so does he still have the juice in what might be his last kick at the can? And on the women's side, it's a similar story. Anna Hasselborg won her first major international tournament in 6 years when she won the Euros, but this year has been tough. She's lost the Swedish Worlds spot to Isabella Wranå and hasn't had great results outside of the Euros. Can she put it together and add a third medal to her trophy case? And of course, Japan has a long history of success on the women's side of this event, and so does Norway on the men's. While neither team is a favourite, will they have the ability to play spoiler? We break it all down here in our continuing series as we get you ready for Milano-Cortina 2026. Special thank you to doubletakeout.com for the rankings and Shoreview Sports for the analytics. This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling. Check out goldlinecurling.com for all your Canadian Olympic apparel, equipment, and on-ice apparel needs.
John and Robbie attempt to do the most brave thing in the curling world: predict what will happen in the Olympic Mixed Doubles tournament. With an absolutely stacked field of Olympic medallists, World champions, and some of the best curlers in the world, it really feels like anything could happen. We try to break it all down and figure out what might happen as curling kicks off the entire Olympics in just under a week. This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling, the Choice of Champions. Check out Goldlinecurling.com for all your curling equipment and apparel needs. Special thank you to doubletakeout.com for the rankings.
We are back with our second of six Olympic preview episodes, and this time, we are chatting about 4 teams that are all coming into the Olympics with some question marks. Can the Chinese teams find consistency and repeat their Worlds performances from last year where they both made bronze medal games? Can Joel Retornaz find the form that allowed him to win 3 Slams in a single season just a couple of years ago? And what exactly is going on with the Italian women both on and off the ice? Teams with some wildly different ranges as to where they could finish and lots of intrigue on both sides of the ledger, and we break them all down for you here in extensive fashion, including breaking down their seasons so far, what we think their best and worst finishes could be, and where the analytics peg them. Thanks to Goldline for sponsoring this episode of Broom Brothers. For all of your apparel and curling gear needs, check out goldinecurling.com. A special thank you to Ken Pomeroy at doubletakeout.com for the rankings and methodology, and to Shoreview Sports for the analytics.
The 2026 Olympics are just around the corner and John and Robbie have you covered with the most EXTENSIVE previews you'll find anywhere in the curling media landscape. Over the next 3 weeks, we are going to go over every single team in these Games: how they've looked this season, what the experts are saying, and ultimately, how we think they'll fare at the biggest tournament of the last 4 seasons. We're going to start with the Americans on both sides of the sheet, as Tabitha Peterson is getting towards the back 9 of her career and Danny Casper and his young charges are just teeing off. Do either of them have a chance? Is there another Miracurl on Ice coming? We also take a peek at two teams outside of the Slam picture but who could make some noise, in the Danish women and the Czech men. This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling, the Choice of Champions. For all your curling apparel and equipment needs, head on over to goldlinecurling.com.
It's an old-school episode of Broom Brothers, as John and Robbie convene for the first half of the show to discuss a phenomenal week at the Crown Royal Players Championship in Steinbach, MB, where we saw an all-Scottish final on the men's side and a magical run for home team Kerri Einarson on the women's. We also discuss Silvana Tirinzoni's potential retirement, the Swedish and Japanese national team battles, and whether or not we're worried about our Canadian teams at the Olympics. Then, the focus turns to Ross Whyte, who joins us on his one day off between tournaments to discuss his Players' win with John. We talk about his start in curling, how Craig Waddell has fit into the team seamlessly, what the Grand Slams mean to them, and dealing with the whole Bruce Mouat thing. This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling, the Choice of Champions. For all of your Canadian Olympic apparel needs, head on over to goldlinecurling.com.
Happy New Year! Robbie and John sit down to run you through all the news of the last few weeks, including the Rock League date and venue announcements, all the happenings at the HearingLife Canadian Open in Saskatoon, and they get you ready for next week's Crown Royal Players Championship, which has a few interesting storylines the BBs are eager to follow. It's the last tournament before the Olympics so all the teams will want to end their tour season as strong as possible, Rachel Homan is still searching for that elusive career Grand Slam with a Players title, and the Swedish Women's World berth will also be decided halfway across the world in Steinbach, Manitoba. We also reveal our podcast plans leading up to the Olympics and Robbie makes his famous predictions one last time.   This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling, The Choice of Champions. Grab your gear, apparel, and more at goldlinecurling.com.
John and Robbie are back and lost in all the Canadian Olympic Trials hubbub was the fact that the European Championships also took place the same week! The BBs go through all the results there as it's a Swedish Sweep for Teams Edin and Hasselborg, before turning their attention to the upcoming HearingLife Canadian Open in Saskatoon as the GSOC brings 2025 to a close. We take a look at some of the most intriguing storylines coming into the week, we take a quick peek at the very strong Tier 2 field, and we close with Robbie's famous predictions. This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling. For all your curling equipment and apparel needs, head to goldlinecurling.com.
John is joined by Marc Kennedy and Paul Webster as Marc heads to his Canadian curling record 4th Olympics and Paul heads to his first as a coach of a curling team and not as a Curling Canada employee. Marc is up first to discuss how it felt a bit different this time, why Brad Jacobs and Brett Gallant are performing better now than they ever have been, how exactly he's managed to get to 4 Olympic Games, and how this might shift his plans for next year and beyond. Then we bring Paul back on the podcast after his wonderful appearance last year to give us some insight on why he thinks Team Jacobs practices better than any team, how his coaching has involved managing masculinity, and the challenges that the Cortina portion of the Olympics will bring. This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling, the Choice of Champions. For the latest and best in curling gear and apparel, visit goldlinecurling.com.

Thankfully there's no judge and jury here but Robbie and John go long on the recently-completed Canadian Olympic Trials, with something to say about every team in the field. We discuss how Rachel Homan dealt with the immense pressure of being the top dog to find her way to Cortina, Christina Black's charmed run to the women's final, Team Jacobs' two-year ascent to the top of Canadian curling, and everyone and everything else in between. And of course, we also pay tribute to the curling world's dear departed friend, Colleen Jones. This episode is brought to you by our brand-new title sponsor, Goldline! For all your curling equipment and apparel needs, check out "The Choice of Champions" at goldlinecurling.com.
John and Robbie are back and there's a ton in the curling world to discuss so we go long as we dive into Danny Casper's "upset" win at the US Olympic Trials, what it will take for him to win at the OQE, and what this might mean for John Shuster and Korey Dropkin's future. We also chat about the week that was in Lake Tahoe for the first-ever Grand Slam on American soil, and we preview the Canadian Olympic Trials as our nation's best prepare to enter the gauntlet they've spent the last 4 years preparing for.
Joining us for her first-ever English podcast interview, Xenia Schwaller comes onto the program after qualifying in the last three Slams and with two straight semifinal appearances, catapulting her team into the top 5 in the world rankings and announcing their arrival as the game's next ones and newest stars. John talks to Xenia about her team's rapid ascent from the junior ranks into the women's game, their insanely demanding schedule, and what the deal is with being a member of the Swiss military. Plus, we dive into some technical aspects of the Schwaller game, John learns some Swiss German, and we get the lowdown on a few of Xenia's nicknames.
A Whole New Worlds

A Whole New Worlds

John and Robbie are back to discuss all the goings-on in the curling world over the past few weeks, with a focus on the changing format of the World Championships announced 10 days ago. We also dig into Jordon McDonald and Selena Sturmay winning the Pre-Trials and get the fans potentially riled up by debating their continued existence. Plus, we put a bow on the PanCon, chat about Homan and Mouat's wins in Nisku, and preview the first-ever Slam on US soil, next week's KIOTI GSOC Tahoe.
It's finally here! Our chat with the sixth and final Rock League captain and third for Team Loco Solare, Chinami Yoshida! John sits down with Chinami for a chat about how she started playing for Loco Solare, how famous she is in Japan, the difference between Japanese and Canadian curling fans, the disappointment at the Japanese Olympic Trials, and of course, Rock League. We want to thank Daia Koyano for her wonderful work as the interpreter during the interview, as this allowed the space for Chinami to speak directly to her Japanese fans in her native language, but also to her English-speaking fans across the globe.
John and Robbie are back to recap a busy couple of weeks in curling (at least for the Canadian teams) as we go back-to-back in London and Calgary for the AMJ Masters and PointsBet Invitational. And wouldn't you know it, the same teams won both, as Matt Dunstone and Rachel Homan plant an early flag in an important season. We discuss all the happenings at each event, where things stand with the new softer broom foams, and we tee up next week's Co-Op Tour Challenge in Nisku by giving fans the inside scoop on some new rules that will be in effect for that event, including one blank per team, per game.
It's a double dose of victory on the pod this week as John is joined by the two big winners at the AMJ Masters last week: Tier 1's winning skip Matt Dunstone and Tier 2's conqueror, Danny Casper.  With Matt, we hear about how things are starting to gel with EJ Harnden at the second stone and how his preternatural connection with Colton Lott has unlocked a new level for this team, how they're approaching the Olympic Trials, and what was going through his mind over the last six years as he tried to find Slam Win #2. He also tells us a great story about failing a trombone test. Then, Danny joins the show to discuss his second Tier 2 victory and how this sets them up for the US Olympic Trials, plus whether or not they feel pressure to succeed despite being the dark horse to take it all and head to Milano with the US flag on their backs. He also tells us about his plans for the next quad, he details his battle with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, and we learn that he is a very, very slow eater.
Season 2 of the Broom Brothers is HERE and we have a brand-new weekly format we are rolling out starting NOW! One week, your faithful Broom Bros John and Robbie will sit down and discuss all the important curling news of the day and give our opinions on all the happenings of the curling world, and the next, John will sit down with an interview with someone from the game, be that a player, rulemaker, or mover and shaker. It's a new year and a new look for the fellas and it all starts here with our first episode that already needed an emergency attachment as Brad Gushue announced his retirement from the competitive game after we had already recorded this entire episode. Whoops. But we cover that as well as all the happenings of the summer from broom controversies being put to bed to the Goldline acquisition of Hardline to the Olympic reps being named for many countries. We also take a look at the season ahead starting with the AMJ Masters coming up next week in London and give our usual bold predictions.
As promised on the John Morris draft episode, Brent Laing from the TCG Competition Committee joins the pod to tell us all about what the Competition Committee has been up to over the last few months. We discuss some potential rule and format changes on the horizon from finding ways to shorten the game to a tournament within a tournament to eliminating extra ends and blanks. In short, everything is being considered and everything is on the table. We also discuss where things might be going with Rock League formats, how curling can try to create stars, and why The Curling Group is trying to start a youth movement.
John is pleased to be joined by two curlers who will be playing in the upcoming GSOC Wheelchair Invitational and two Paralympic hopefuls, Jon Thurston and Chrissy Molnar. Coming from opposite ends of the spectrum with Jon being a 12-year veteran of the sport and Chrissy just getting into it within the last few years, the two discuss the upcoming Paralympics, the advancements that have been made in the wheelchair game in the last decade, and whether or not wheelchair curling should have sweepers (probably not) or specialized chairs (maybe). And of course, we dive into the GSOC Wheelchair Invitational itself, as Jon and Chrissy share their excitement for this historic inaugural event, how it will help their Paralympic prep, and what they're most looking forward to in London. Tickets for the GSOC Wheelchair Invitational and the AMJ Masters are available now at thegrandslamofcurling.com.
John Morris teams up with John Cullen for the first-ever World Cup–style "pot draft" ahead of the AMJ Masters this September in London. Just like in soccer, the top 16 seeds are split into four pots, and names are drawn to decide who battles who at the season's opening Slam. Which group will become the dreaded Group of Death? How will the long-awaited return of China's men's and women's teams play out after nearly a decade away from GSOC? The two Johns break it all down in this special episode.
