In this third episode of the Gut Reset Mini Series, I walk you through the framework I use with clients for actual gut repair and how all the pieces come together once you have your results. I explain the phases of gut repair I use in practice and why the order matters. We talk about why so many gut protocols fail and what it really takes to heal in a way that's sustainable. If you've tried "everything" (probiotics, elimination diets, generic gut protocols, etc) – this episode will help you understand what's usually missing and how to approach gut healing in a more effective, personalized way.   Resources: • [Free quiz] Which test is best for you? → • Get functional lab testing → • Follow Tanya on Instagram →   In this episode: 01:05 – The Gut Reset Framework 03:31 – The 5 R's 04:21 – Step 1: Remove 07:20 – Step 2: Replace 08:29 – Step 3: Repair 10:16 – Step 4: Reinoculate 12:34 – Step 5: Rebalance 13:58 – What progress looks like 14:56 –  Most common reasons gut protocols fail 16:33 – Submit your questions   I'm so grateful to have you here, friend. In this second episode of the Gut Reset Mini Series, I walk you through how I actually assess gut health and what can show up on a comprehensive gut test. Once you understand how connected your gut is to hormones, energy, skin, mood, and immunity, the next question is usually: how do I know what's happening in my body? We talk about why symptoms alone can be misleading and how the same symptom can stem from very different root causes. I also share why interpreting a gut test properly within your specific context (symptoms, health history, other labs, etc) is the only way to build a personalized and truly effective healing plan. If you've ever wondered whether gut testing makes sense for you, this episode will help you understand when it can be useful.   Resources: • [Free quiz] Which test is best for you? → • Get functional lab testing → • Follow Tanya on Instagram →   In this episode: 01:05 – Why symptoms alone don't tell the full story 02:47 – The power of a comprehensive gut test  05:14 – What a gut test will actually show us 06:49 – Digestion & why eating "healthy" isn't always enough 08:52 – Fat absorption, energy, and hormones 09:38 – Inflammation + immunity markers 11:47 – Gut barrier integrity 12:42 – Getting rid of pathogens and opportunistic microbes 14:52 – Parasites 👀 17:26 – A balanced gut microbiome 20:17 – Why context matters more than any single marker 21:50 – Who gut testing is (and isn't) for 23:35 – The gut repair framework   I'm so grateful to have you here, friend. This episode kicks off the Gut Reset Mini Series — a 4-part deep dive into the foundations of gut health and how true gut repair works. In this first episode, I'm walking you through how your gut influences nearly every system in your body and the most common root causes of gut imbalance I see clinically. Women often come to me with symptoms that feel "random" (things like acne, fatigue, PMS, anxiety, hormone imbalances, fertility struggles) and don't realize their gut is at the center of it all. Gut health has become one of the most talked-about topics in the wellness space, and also one of the most confusing. You'll hear people telling you to cut foods, add probiotics, do parasite cleanses, or follow generic gut protocols, but very rarely is anyone explaining why, who it's for, or how to personalize any of it. If you've ever felt like something is off in your gut, this episode will give you a framework for understanding what might be going on and where to start.   Resources: • [Free quiz] Which test is best for you? → • Get functional lab testing → • Follow Tanya on Instagram →   In this episode: 01:05 – A lot of gut health info is wrong or incomplete 😬 03:28 – The surprisingly wide range of symptoms 04:59 – Why so many systems trace back to the gut 06:25 – How the gut affects hormones 07:40 – How the medical system fails gut health 11:19 – Root causes of gut imbalance I see most often 12:14 – Two medications that massively affect the gut 13:49 – Cutting calories and certain food groups 16:27 – Why personalization and testing matter so much   I'm so grateful to have you here, friend. In this episode, I'm getting into fertility from a holistic perspective and breaking down why so many women feel stuck when standard labs come back "normal." I'm seeing this come up again and again in my practice: women who are doing all the right things, tracking their cycles, eating well, taking supplements, and still being told they have "unexplained infertility." The thing is, fertility is a reflection of your overall health as a woman. That's why so many aspects of your own health (e.g. stress, gut health, inflammation, etc) can block conception. When you understand what your body's asking for, your fertility health will naturally follow.   Resources: • [Free quiz] Which test is best for you? → • Get functional lab testing → • Follow Tanya on Instagram →   In this episode: 01:05 – Subfertility vs "unexplained infertility" 02:55 – Fertility is a reflection of your whole-body health 05:54 – Chronic stress  is an underestimated barrier 07:59 – Gut health & inflammation 09:51 – Blood sugar imbalance, under-eating, and restriction 10:56 – Going deeper than hormone levels 13:42 – Reasons for nutrient depletion 15:10 – The functional lab tests I use to uncover fertility issues 19:33 – Creating your own personalized plan   I'm so grateful to have you here, friend. In this episode, I'm joined by Kylie Ivanir, a registered dietitian and the founder of Within Nutrition, to talk about what actually supports healing and what can get in the way. We discuss why so many women feel like they're doing everything right (eating well, taking supplements, exercising) yet they are *still* struggling with gut issues and hormone imbalances. Kylie shares her perspective on fasting, elimination diets, protein, biohacking, and supplements – and why it's so important to apply personalization when using any of these tools. This conversation is really about coming back to the basics and the importance of slowing down instead of constantly trying to "fix" yourself. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by wellness advice or confused by all the conflicting information out there, this episode's for you.   Find Kylie Ivanir on Instagram @within.nutrition and on her website!   Resources: • [Free quiz] Which test is best for you? → • Get functional lab testing → • Follow Tanya on Instagram →   In this episode: 01:05 – Introducing Kylie Ivanir, hormone + gut dietitian 03:36 – Wellness around the world 07:06 – Biohacks & trends: which ones are actually effective 11:24 – Carnivore, keto, and low-FODMAP diets 16:29 – Restriction and elimination diets  21:54 – Danger of the social media sounding board 23:23 – The impact of modern life on health 27:14 – The smallest things make the biggest difference 28:41 – Stress & the female vs male nervous system 33:16 – Why personalization matters more than doing "everything right" 37:55 – What women are missing nutritionally 42:55 – Be wary of supplement marketing 46:03 – Tiny Health, gut testing for children 51:09 – Rapid-fire questions with Kylie   I'm so grateful to have you here, friend. In this episode, I share the concept of seasonality through the lens of Ayurveda and how our bodies are designed to shift with the seasons. Modern society and productivity culture often clash with our actual biology, especially during winter. Honoring your body during this restorative season can make a meaningful difference in your energy, digestion, mood, and hormones. In this episode, I talk about something top of mind about this time of year: detox culture. I explain why extreme cleanses and juice fasts almost always backfire and walk you through what natural detoxification actually looks like in the body. I break down the roles of your liver, gut, kidneys, and other detox pathways, and share which holistic habits will truly move the needle. My goal is to help you see detox as a process of coming back into balance rather than punishing yourself for moving more slowly during winter.   Resources: • [Free quiz] Which test is best for you? → • Get functional lab testing → • Follow Tanya on Instagram →   In this episode: 01:05 – A little life update + Luna's health plan 05:37 – Holiday habits and falling out of our routine 07:08 – How to know if your body's out of balance 08:18 – What detox culture/marketing gets wrong 12:22 – Why harsh detoxes backfire 13:18 – How natural detox actually works in the body 15:03 – What might cause your natural detox system to slow 16:44 – Identifying the exact cause through lab testing 17:23 – Noah shares his two cents  18:15 – Foundational habits that support natural detox   I'm so grateful to have you here, friend. In this episode, I'm sharing a January update as I shift into a slower season after the intensity of the holidays. Rest is something I intentionally prioritize this time of year and January is the perfect time for a natural reset. I also walk you through how I approach my annual intentions ritual (which I shared in episode #71 a couple weeks ago). Pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and becoming Noah's parents completely reshaped our lives this year. In this episode, I'm joined by my husband for an unfiltered conversation about what it's really been like: from pregnancy and birth to navigating postpartum recovery and what's shifted in our marriage. We answer your questions, share how the same moments felt very different from each side, talk about what surprised him most about pregnancy and birth, what supporting a partner truly looks like, and how parenthood changes everything. When life feels like a nonstop cycle of to-do lists, deadlines, and obligations, it's easy to get stuck in survival mode without even realizing it. In this episode, I'll break down what survival mode really is, the signs your nervous system is stuck there, and how chronic stress impacts your hormones, metabolism, and overall health. You'll also learn simple, practical steps to signal safety to your body. And since the holiday season can magnify stress more than any other time of year, I'll share how to move through this time of year while staying grounded, protecting your energy, and actually enjoying the season.   Resources: • [Free quiz] Which test is ideal for you? → • Join the waitlist for 1:1 functional lab testing → • Follow Tanya on Instagram for more →   In this episode: 01:05 — December craziness 05:20 — Why you're body goes into survival mode when you're stressed 06:22 — Signs your nervous system is stuck in fight-or-flight 08:29 — Feeling guilty about resting 10:24 — How your body adapts to survival mode (and why it stays stuck) 12:47 — 5 practical steps you can take to signal safety to your body   I'm so grateful to have you here, friend. When it comes to metabolism, you might think that eating less, skipping meals, or cutting calories will help you lose weight. In reality, restriction has the opposite effect: it slows your metabolism, spikes stress hormones, disrupts blood sugar, and drains your energy. Over time, it can impact everything from your thyroid and fertility to your mood and immunity. In this episode, I share why restrictive eating backfires, what true food freedom looks like, and how nourishing your body with enough protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs is essential for long-term metabolic health. And because this restrictive mindset often shows up even more strongly during the holidays, we'll also talk about how to move through the season feeling grounded and guilt-free.   Resources: • [Free quiz] Which test is ideal for you? → • Join the waitlist for 1:1 functional lab testing → • Follow Tanya on Instagram for more →   In this episode: 01:05 — Restriction vs. food freedom 04:37 — Skipping meals, caffeine, and over-exercising 06:52 — An all-or-nothing mindset will backfire 08:53 —  Energy, hormones, digestion, fertility, mood, immunity 11:32 — What food freedom really looks like 16:49 — The physical & mental benefits 17:35 — Mindset shifts to support better habits 19:38 — Practical tips for food freedom   I'm so grateful to have you here, friend. Life update! This episode is a real one. I'm about seven weeks postpartum and finally feeling ready to talk about what these last two months have truly been like. I'm sharing the parts we don't usually say out loud: how the shock of labor stayed with me long after we got home, how intense the early hormone swings were, the moments I didn't recognize myself at all, and the way my body slowly healed. I'm also sharing what has helped: the support I lean on, the simple rituals that ground me, the supplements and testing I'm doing, and the mindset that carried me through the hardest days. If you're anywhere in the postpartum experience (preparing for it, deep in it, reflecting back on it, or supporting someone you love through it), I hope this episode makes you feel less alone and more understood.   Resources: • Which test is ideal for you? → • Join the waitlist to work with me → • Follow me on Instagram →   In this episode: 01:05 — Shifting with the season change 05:32 — Balancing motherhood and work 07:37 — What I was missing going into birth 10:50 — Noah's guest appearance on the pod  11:13 — The early (hormonal) postpartum weeks 13:35 — What helped me heal physically + mentally 14:38 — Letting go of expectations 16:34 — Taking care of my physical body 17:19 — Supplements and testing for me (& baby!) 19:19 — Advice for healing postpartum   I'm so grateful to have you here, friend. In this heartfelt episode, I share my son Noah's birth story — recorded straight from bed in the early days of his newborn life. What was supposed to be a natural, unmedicated birth turned into a whirlwind series of medical interventions and, ultimately, an emergency procedure that forced me to surrender entirely. I open up about the physical and emotional intensity of the experience, the heartbreak of being separated after birth, and the gratitude that came with finally holding my healthy baby boy. This episode is a reminder that even when things don't go according to plan, beauty, resilience, and healing can still be found in the unexpected.   Resources: • [Free quiz] Which test is ideal for you? → • Join the waitlist for 1:1 functional lab testing → • Follow Tanya on Instagram for more →   In this episode: 01:05 – Recording with baby Noah 02:46 – Newborn life 04:39 – A natural, unmedicated birth (?) 07:50 – How my birth story began 10:36 – Did my water break? 14:16 – Going into labor 18:01 – Things start to take a turn 21:18 – Baby in distress 24:27 – The moment that broke my heart 26:40 – Finding gratitude 28:05 – My recovery so far   I'm so grateful to have you here, friend.
