Description
Welcome to True Spirituality with Ange, the podcast where we explore spirituality on our own terms, free from preconceived notions or dogma. Growing up, I never felt like I fit into the two spiritual extremes of my family: either cynical atheism or devout Catholicism. I wanted something in between, and that's what I hope to offer with this podcast. Join me in creating a bespoke version of spirituality that resonates with you and lights up your world, from home to work and everything in between. Let's find joy and fulfilment in every moment, and build a spiritual foundation that will help us live with no regrets.

There were a lot of concepts and beliefs in the faith that I was brought up in that did not sit well with me. So at the age of twelve, I stopped going to church. My desire for spirituality was still there though. So what do you do? I started exploring different religions, such as buddhism, and without giving it much thought, I started to pick and choose what felt right for me and what didn't. Now that I have been on this path for well over thirty years, I would like to invite you to do the same, regardless of whether you decide to stay in your religious tradition or not, as some of you value the communities that these religions have built and want to stay. I am officially giving you permission to create your own spiritual blueprint. Especially if you are a woman or a member of the LGBT community because traditionally, religions have not treated our communities well, so it's up to us to create a new narrative. Before we dive in, I also want you to go through this exercise with cultural appropriation in mind so that you remain respectful of other people's cultures and religions, especially if they have been exploited or are marginalised. You can read more about what cultural appropriation is in this Wikipedia article. With this caveat, let's dive in. I have selected three concepts from the PDF that I created to help you with this process, namely, heaven and hell, angels and karma. The PDF, that you will receive is you sign up for my newsletter with this link, has five pages of key words for you to explore. Heaven and Hell Heaven is traditionally regarded as the place where God and the angels reside and where the good go after death, and often depicted as above the clouds. Hell on the other hand is regarded as the place where the Devil and demons reside and where the wicked go after death and often depicted with perpetual fire and darkness. Heaven and Hell rest on the dualistic model of good and bad. Personally, I think that good and bad are always relative as they can depend on our beliefs, our culture and our circumstances. It also rest on a model where people are judged. And if you have been raised in the Catholic faith as I am, you only get one chance. When faced with a spiritual or religious concept, I want you to get into the habit of asking yourself: Does this support the life that I am creating? And if it doesn't, challenge it and replace it by something that feels better. You can use the four question process that Byron Katie has created, which is incredibly powerful. I describe the four questions in the episode but the most important one is number three which asks you to find out how that concept makes you feel. Personally that concept make me feel manipulated, as if I could not decide for myself what is right and what is right and I had to have the threat of hell to behave myself. Is heaven real? Who knows. Is hell real? Same answer. What better belief can we replace them with? Personally I believe there is a material world populated with beings with bodies, humnan or animal, and a spirit world for beings without bodies. I believe that God lives in my heart (although I rarely use the word God because it has a connotation that makes me cringe). I don't believe in heaven and hell. 2. Angels Does the concept of angels resonate with you? The definition of angels is spiritual beings believed to be messengers of God. Do we need to believe in God to believe in angels? I personally don't think so. For the record, I want to mention that religions have created hierarchy of angels that reflect the religious hierarchy and one has to wonder why, if not to support the oppressive religious model created by (mostly white) men. My own measuring stick for angelic presence is simplicity. So an angelic hierarchy feels like an oxymoron. You might also be interested in reading a piece I wrote for The Taoist Online on Medium recently that claims that guardian angels do not exist. 3. Karma Although traditionally linked to Hinduism and Buddhism, karma has found its way in popular culture in the West, so I wanted to include it in this episode. It is the idea of a chain of cause and effect in morality. The most common example of karma I have heard being used is someone being ill because they did something wrong in a past life. This ties into the concept of good and bad, with the added dimension of reincarnation, although it is not a necessary piece. I personally found it liberating when I came across it for the first time in my twenties. I had been raised by a very judgmental mother and tended to get very upset when people did the wrong thing. Of course, at the time, I could see no fault in my own behaviour but that's a topic for another discussion. The idea that karma took care of it all was freeing at first. Not anymore. And that's another point I would like to make: Your blueprint is a living document. It might look a certain way today and be entirely different in a year's time, so revisit it regularly. To share your piece of art regarding your new blueprint, DM me on my Facebook profile or my LinkedIn profile. I am honoured to have my first representative of the clergy on the podcast to talk about mystical experiences, which will surprise some of you. Rev. Stephanie Bradbury is an interim priest at the St Andrews Episcopal Church in Ayer, Massachusetts. She also speaks at the International Association for Near Death Studies. Although Stephanie has not had a near death experience (NDE) herself, she had a spiritually transformative experience (STE) as a student at University. Stephanie could be called a progressive priest, as for example, she uses pronouns next to her name. Historically, religion has not treated the LGBTQIA well, but it seems that things are changing. Stephanie has been a priest for 28 years. Her church, the Episcopal Church in America, is fairly progressive. Women have been ordained in that Church since 1976. Christianity is a varied landscape with millions of people believing different things, but it is often the more vocal ones that dominate the scene. And Christianity is immersed in a culture that does not believe in the transcendent. And that has filtered through the church: the idea that if it can't be detected through our senses, then it doesn't exist. Which is ironic because the scriptures are jam packed with descriptions of transcendent experiences. It's all in there. And these experiences are hard to take seriously because for the clergy, the rest of their lives is bathed in this materialism and they are told again and again that these experiences do not exist. Stephanie had the honour to counsel quite a few people who had near death experiences and other spiritually transformative experiences in her ministry. People who were told that these experiences were of the devil and who were told they would be going to hell. Or they were dismissed with words such as "I am sure you believe that". The average person on the street would say that too. It's sad because for most people who have spiritually transformative experiences, their first port of call is the Church and to be told this, is damaging. That's where they look for answers and the answers are not there. At least, not in most churches. But things are changing. It's hard for clergy too, but more and more Stephanie meets clergy that resonate with her approach. And some are afraid to lose their jobs. Even if a system is benevolent, it's hard to buck the system. Part of Stephanie's calling is to support clergy through this too. When she had her own experiences, she nearly walked away from the church until she was able to see the scriptures through new eyes. She saw that it was all there and now offers a blog about her views called Jesus and the Enchanted Cosmos on Substack. Stephanie and I talked about how religion can become words and an intellectual exercise rather than something felt from the heart. It's a little bit like snow. If you have never experienced snow, I can describe it to you but you will never feel what snow feels like. That's what has happened with all the transcendent experiences described in the Bible. People hear them but lack the first hand experience of them.
In this tarot series, we first looked at whether the tarot is evil or dangerous, then we looked at how to get the best tarot reading with a professional and we are now going to dive into what you need to know to do a reading for yourself, starting with choosing your first deck. Look at it as a tarot for beginners crash course. Tarot decks always have 78 cards. If you buy a deck that has less cards, it's an oracle deck, which I will cover in a different episode. These cards are split in two groups: The major arcana and the minor arcana. There are 22 major arcana that usually follow the same pattern, starting with the fool (card 0) and ending with the World (Card 21). Major arcanas usually have their number and name on them, particularly in the Rider-Waite deck, which is the gold standard for learning. How to choose your deck? I would recommend you choose it intuitively. Yet, at the same time, I recommend the Rider-Waite for learning. So maybe have two decks. My favourite deck is the Light Seer's Deck because it is more inclusive because the Rider-Waite is white washed and heteronormative. Once you receive your deck, you need to both cleanse it and dedicate it. I describe in the episode how to cleanse your deck with the sun. There are of course many different methods that are available on the internet. A lot of them involve crystals or smudging sticks. I prefer to keep things simple but if you want to use your crystals or incense, knock yourself out. Dedication: why is that important? It will set the tone for the kind of guidance you receive. Some people like to have their arse kicked, others prefer gentle guidance. I like my guidance to be uplifting, useful and inspiring. Take a little time to reflect on what you want. There are two ways to read the tarot: if you read cards literally, you don't need to be clairvoyant to do so. This means that everybody can read the cards for themselves, psychic or not. I think it's a good thing. In the episode I teach you one way to use your deck to get yes/no answers with just one card. I would rather you listen to the episode to hear all my instructions as there many parts to it but if you are in a rush, you pull one card. It is upright, it's a yes. If it is reversed, it's a no. At the end of the day, the power of tarot cards lie in their symbology, mostly what things mean to you. Because of this, I encourage you to sign up for my Treasure Hunt where you will learn how to find and interpret signs. Plus if you are an entrepreneur, particularly in the online service industry, I will share how to start thinking about a powerful three or five day challenge you could run. Here is the link to sign up. Last, here are the top five mistakes people do when they read the tarot so you can try to avoid them: Doing a reading when you feel low or vulnerable Using your deck in a space that is not safe Asking the same question until you get the answer that you want Asking the wrong question Think the answer you get is set in stone I can teach you the tarot one to one if you want for £199 a month (at the time of the recording of this episode). If you would like to find out more, book a discovery call with me with this link. Making sure you learn with the right mentor is incredibly important so let's chat.
In this episode, I talk about all things spooky in the spiritual world, because it's Halloween! I saw a connection of mine post a photo of a graveyard with orbs on LinkedIn over the weekend end it reminded me of my connection to both graveyards and orbs, so here we are. I grew near the Cimetiere Montparnasse in Paris. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montparnasse_Cemetery Growing up as a child, my bedroom window overlooked it. As if this was not enough, my grandmother took us playing hide and seek in the Cemetery whenever she came to look after us on Wednesdays, weather permitting. I also remember the first time I was tipsy walking through the Cemetery with my sister as a chaperone on the way back from a friend who served me a pretty strong of Rhum, as he was originally from the West Indies. And the one thing I did whilst walking in the middle of the night was do a speech to the dead. I don't believe dead people hover over their graves nor that their new homes are cemeteries. They might visit when you do, say for example on the 1st of November for All Saints Day, but only because you are there and they care. Most of the rest of the time, they live in another dimension (a higher one). My grandmother, who is now in that dimension, used to take my sister, my brother and I to play hide and seek in the Montparnasse Cemetery. When I went to see a psychic medium for the first time in 2005, my grandmother high jacked the session. Yet when I told my mother about it, she accused me of disturbing the peace my grandmother was having. Since then, and thanks to Abraham Hicks, I have come to believe that when we die, we continue to be interested in the same things we were interested in when we walked the earth. I guess that means my grandmother is in that cemetery most of the time. Joke apart: lawyers would gather around law firms, piano players around pianos... etc. I want to explain the difference between our departed loved ones and ghosts, as this is a Halloween podcast. Our loved ones, when they come to see us, are only visiting. They don't come to haunt us. They are not attached to a specific venue and they know that they are "dead". They usually are now able to see the bigger picture and are slightly wiser than when they walked the earth. Ghosts, on the other hand, are trapped in between the Earth plane and the spirit world. They usually haunt places because they don't realise they are dead. So for example, they continue to live in the house that was theirs when they lived and disturb the new occupants. Think of the film the Others, with Nicole Kidman. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Others_(2001_film) It's pretty accurate. But ghosts are not necessarily humans trapped in an in-between world. They can also be energy imprints or entities. I go into more details about the difference in the episode. They often hover around pubs, places where massacres have happened and generally dark spots on the Earth. Orbs are the opposite of entities. They are beings of light. In March 2014, a day after my father died, I captured an orb on my phone camera as I was walking in the XVIth arrondissement, in Paris, which is precisely where my dad grew up as a boy. Two days later, I captured two orbs on either side of the Church where his funeral was going to be conducted, just before I met my cousin to hand him the speech I wanted him to read for me. Both photos are included in my memoir, My Father Who Art in Heaven which you can purchase in the online shop. www.theintuitiverevolution.co.uk/shop Energy vampires: my grandmother was one. What are energy vampires? People who drain you. You recognise them because before you see or interact with them you feel great. Whereas after you have, you feel exhausted, drained or simply awful. They can be friends, relatives, people you work with or even complete strangers. They can be trolls on social media. How does it work? They come into your energy field, if it is open or compromised, and hook into you then syphon your energy. They do not need to know how energy works in order to do this. You, on the other hand, need to learn about energy in order to protect yourself. Personally, I thought I was the one with a mood problem until I trained as a reiki master and learnt more about energy. Energy vampires hook you in by making you feel sorry for them, by complaining or by creating arguments. This enables them to wedge an opening into your energy field, et voila. I explain a little more about the mechanics of how that happens in the audio of the episode. Psychic attacks are quite common. If you have been on the receiving of a psychic attack, you can feel off, on edge, anxious or nauseous. A psychic attack is when someone transfers their negative energy into your energy field. It can be deliberate, if they get angry, jealous or start hating you. This can happen for example with someone who knows you and is jealous of your success even if you don't actually know who they are. It can be accidental: someone who loves you who worries so much about you that they pour their worry energy into you. It can also be violent and feel almost like a physical slap when people attack when they are triggered. I share a story in the episode of a client who actually woke up in the middle of the night and who thought she was having a stroke. You can open yourself to unwanted energies when you use tarot cards or Ouija boards. I am passionate about keeping people safe, so if you want to avoid the top three mistakes people make when using a tarot deck, head over to Julie Brown's podcast, This Sh*T works, where I was interviewed for a Halloween special. https://podfollow.com/1528595881/episode/5054aae6c39e2f1a168ad07800f5462ba4dd9d51/view
The energy of your home can affect you in profound ways. There are two reasons. First your home has an energy of its own. But second, you leave an energetic footprint to your home through your emotions and your thoughts, which, if not cleaned regularly, can build up thought forms and energetic clouds. Once the energy become strong enough, it then becomes harder to get rid of it. In the episode, I share with you a simple practice that can help you break up that energy and start to get rid of it. I would also like to invite you to listen to previous episodes about this topic: EP 30 The Ancient Chinese Art of Feng Shui EP 70 A Fresh Start for You and Your Home I talk about decluttering and give you my best tips on how to get started. I give you my definition of what clutter is and how clutter creates energy drains. If you need help, why not book a house clearing session (if works for flats too).
Due to the release of the Epstein Files, I have been asked to do an episode on how to protect ourselves from what I would like to refer to as Energetic Black Holes, which represent the darkest side of humanity. Up until now, I have been talking about several different energy vortices: EP 115 The energy of the news and politics EP 122 The energy of flags (UK) EP 123 The energy of war and peace EP 124 The energy of songs But none of these episodes looked into the darkest side of humanity. We are being exposed to this right now, not because it has never existed before, but because it has to be exposed and to come into the light for healing. However, I am urging you not to dive into that energy unless you are a very experienced lightworker - a term I use very seldom. Not every reiki master is an experienced lightworker. I have had reiki masters tell me that if you are "of the light" then that sort of darkness cannot touch you. They are misguided. That sort of naivety is dangerous and could lead you to put yourself in danger. I also want to warn against using words such a sociopath, psychopath and narcissist lightly. This is very harmful to the community of people who suffer from mental illnesses. Nasty people are usually powerful energy vampires but this is another level entirely that has a purposeful device added to the dark energy that is designed to syphon your energy if you come into contact with it. Just like you shouldn't run into a house on fire to save people in it unless you were a fully trained firefighter, the same goes here about these dark energies. I was shown by my spirit team that Epstein was so dark that his soul was terminated. To give perspective, Hitler soul hasn't been terminated, although he is in a very dark place right now. In the episode, I share an intention you can set which I have borrowed from Amanda Ellis, to whom I want to give credit. I have however, attached a caveat to it, which you will find out if you listen to the episode. These energies are like black holes and just like black holes, when you engage with them there is what is called a "boundary of no escape" - which, if you cross it, will require professional help to recover from. And the sad thing is, you can cross that line so easily from just going down a rabbit hole after seeing a post on social media, which you weren't even necessarily looking for.
Our guest this month is Hay house published author, artist and spiritual teacher, Helen Plehn, who has trained in an impressive number of spiritual modalities. Her book called Aura Colour Wheel presents a radical system of looking at the aura and the chakra system in the light of our soul path, lessons and wounds. We started the discussion by talking about Feng Shui as I wanted to honour Helen's Chinese heritage and knowledge of Feng Shui, and the image for these show notes was taken whilst we recorded the episode in zoom when Helen excitedly reached out for the compass that was used by her grand mother and handed down to her dad, then to herself as a third generation Feng Shui master. Helen also shared about her kundalini energy experience and how this suddenly allowed her to see spirit through the opening of her third eye but also how it took her a couple of weeks to integrate the energy with the support of her spiritual teachers, particularly to learn to close her third eye to be able to function in the 3D world. We talked about her mother's recent cancer diagnosis and healing that she calls a miracle as it happened on the back of her mother releasing the anger she held against her own parents, which was stored in her solar plexus, and that had created liver cancer. Helen explained that her mother does not believe in any of the angelic and spiritual teachings of her daughter but that this helped her nevertheless. Even though the Aura Colour Wheel is complex, this does not deprive us of our free will. You can find out more about Helen and take her quiz on her website www.helencreatesbeauty.com. If you purchase her book, which is available on all the platforms where books are sold, you will receive three bonuses that you can claim here. So make sure you keep your receipt so you can enter the details on her website. One is a personal reading that will allow you to start the year with a bang by knowing a very important personal number that will help you find out about your prosperous direction. The second is access to Helen's facebook community. And the third derives from the second as Helen does monthly live Q+As in that community. If you buy Helen's book and you enjoy it, you can vote for it in the Conscious Life Expo Book Award with this link. No purchase required though. Helen has also started a podcast on her YouTube Channel at the start of January 2026 which you can watch live every Monday at 10 am Pacific Time called the Aura Evolution Podcast.
Songs can carry a mix of energies and because we listen to them in a state of semi-hypnosis the lyrics and that mixed energy can unduly influence us in our beliefs. In order to demonstrate this, I went through what are considered to be the top 10 most popular songs in the UK and I deconstructed them to prove my point. All of Me - John Legend I Will Always Love You - Whitney Huston The Power of Love - Jennifer Rush Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran I don't want to miss a thing - Aerosmith Just the Way You Are - Bruno Mars Angels - Robbie Williams Everything I do, I do for you - Bryan Adams My heart will go on - Celine Dion The problem that I have with most of those songs, except perhaps Bruno Mars' song (although it's problematic in a different way), is that they have less than ideal messages wrapped up in a pretty box with a bow. That pretty box is a fine tune or a lovely melody and often it comes with a beautiful voice, but the message is still problematic. There are of course wonderful songs and I have a playlist called High Vibe. Some of the songs you can find in there are: Mr Blue SKy - ELO Thank you - Bliss Here comes the sun - the Beatles Intuition - John Lennon Happy - Pharrell Williams W.i.t.c.h. - Devon Cole If you have a favourite high vibe song you would like to share with us, why not share it in the comments on the podcast show notes on my website. www.spirituallawyer.co.uk/podcast-2
On the 3rd of January, Trump launched military strikes on Venezuela and captured President Maduro and his wife in violation of the UN charter and Venezuela's sovereignty. I believe this vastly increased the chances of WW3. For the first time, I went to bed wondering in what state I would find the world when I woke up the next day? Why? Because up to now, for all its faults, the USA was considered a European ally and a force to fight Putin's nefarious ambitions. And for the first time, the USA has stopped being an ally. It has joined the ranks of Russia and Israel in the belligerent and lawless states. In truth the energy of WW3 has been building steadily since February 2022 since Russia invaded Ukraine. And the energy of war has actually dominated the world for a very long time, over the energy of Peace. There have been 285 armed conflicts since 1946. The energy of war is one of the energy drains that can affect us at the moment and one that we will be clearing during my five day challenge starting on the 26th of January 2026. So sign up for the challenge to be part of the movement for Peace. This episode, however is here to show you that there is something we can do. Not only that, we have reached a tipping point where the energy of Peace is actually stronger than the energy of war and I want to invite you to do what you can to be part of this incredible movement full of hope. To hear Barbara answer my question of whether we have reached a tipping point that will take us from destruction to salvation, click here.
I have decided to dedicate the whole month of January to energy, mostly because, self-centeredly, the Norther Hemisphere is in a season where we all feel our energies at low levels but also due to running my brand new free five-day challenge on the 26th of January. For those of you who don't live in the UK, and specifically in England, a movement called Operation Raise the Colours was created in August 2025 that encouraged its members to attach the England flag to poles across neighbourhoods but also paint red crosses across roundabouts and zebra crossings. This naturally led to anti-immigration protests in particular in front of refugee hotels as well as harassment of communities, businesses and minorities. Sadly, the main political parties of the UK are supporting this movement, including our Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The reason I am talking about this on the podcast, other than to highlight the issues around this movement, is that these flags are actually energy vortices purposefully meant to hit people from minority backgrounds or people of colours in the solar plexus and create fear. It's basically like an injection of fear and hatred energy. I explain how this is possible but also the three steps I have taken to reclaim my power around it in the hope that it can help you reclaim your own power from the flags, if this has affected you, but also to help people reclaim their power from similar situations. I have talked about energy vortices before, in particular about the energy of the news and politics, in EP 115. I think in this episode I go more in depth on these are created through our own thoughts (or as it stands the hateful thoughts of the people who use the flags for project their hatred). I take this opportunity to mention my new weekly energy readings which I post on a Sunday night at 6 pm UK time and that you can find on all my social media platforms: Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, but also on YouTube. In my free five-day challenge mentioned above, I will teach you how to remove the hooks or energetic cords in your own energy field, so don't forget to find out more about it and sign up with this link.
In the Northern Hemisphere, Winter can be a trying period in the year where our energy levels are low. They are low due to the lack of sunshine and subsequent drop in vitamin D, but also because there is a tendency to stay indoor. Nature shows us we need to slow down. In that context, Christmas arrives and uses up a ton of our energy, not just from the Planet's point of view, but our personal reserves of energy. It is not surprising that we can finish the year completely drained. However, the biggest drain of all is the energy vampires in our lives that hide in plain sight, often times in our families or bigger circle of relatives. The reason I am so excited to dedicate an episode to helping you getting your energy back is that Energy is the first pillar of my EPIC framework. And I am running a free five day challenge by the same name starting on the 26th of January that I am inviting you to sign up for with this link. I have done episodes about energy vampires previously on the podcast so I am going to list them if you want to go back to them: EP 08: Ghosts, Energy Vampires and Graveyards EP 104: How to deal with Energy Vampires I grew up surrounded by energy vampires, starting with my Mum and my Grandmother. I am a bit of an expert on the topic because of that. I wish I wasn't, but I am. In this episode I explain why people turn into energy vampires and describe the main four types of vampires you can come across so you can spot them. And during my five day challenge I will teach you how to spot them but also how to remove what they use to drain you. Please share this episode with anyone you know who might benefit from listening to it.
Barbara With has been with us in a previous episode where she talked about world peace. Click here to check it out. She comes back this December 2025 to give us predictions for 2026 from the collective of spirit guides that she calls the Party. First of all, I asked Barbara is her collective would give us a word for the year, and they said "Authenticity". I also asked what would be the biggest change that happens in 2026. I don't want to spoil it so you will have to listen to the episode. We then explored month by month what to expect. I asked her how it all started and she said it was when a British tabloid newspaper wanted her to channel Princess Diana in the 90s. She shares how the twelve guides that are in the Party came one by one, although they worked with her under the guise of angels for many years. She also shares how Hitler is one of the 12. I found that particularly interesting because something similar happened to me. For years, my guides were anonymous angels. And one day, one came to the forefront. Maybe I needed to be ready to hear their name. Barbara feels the same. Hearing the names of our guides can take our egos for a ride. Barbara shares a message from Jesus after I asked what is the one thing he wished everybody knew about his message. Last, I asked Barbara how we can best prepare for 2026. She is offering her 1-hour reading at 40% off. Go to https://barbarawith.com/readings/ pick a 1-hour reading and use the coupon code READING40. To buy Barbara''s books, click here.
We have a returning guest: Chantal Vanhagen, who came to the podcast in EP 24 to talk about toxic positivity and spiritual bypassing. Chantal's Mum died earlier this year as did a very dear friend of hers and I thought having a discussion with her around how grief can be exacerbated around Christmas would be a good idea. The first Christmas (if you celebrate Christmas obviously - feel free to use any other family gatherings in your own tradition) after a loved one has died can be the hardest time because you cannot help remembering that last Christmas that person was with you. Christmas can magnify feelings like no other celebration. If you are happy, then you are probably likely to feel happier as you are surrounded by loved ones, but if you are not, particularly if you are dealing with the messy process of grief, then it's going to be a challenge. But it's not just for people who have lost loved ones, you could be grieving not having had children and insensitive relatives might rub it in your face. Or, like Bridget Jones, you could be single in your thirties and feel like the odd one. Grief hit me unexpectedly this Christmas as I witnessed the staff of a restaurant decorating a Christmas tree and unprocessed grief around the fact that my ex-husband never allowed me to decorate our Christmas tree in the twenty years we were together, depriving me of the joy of doing that with our two children when they were little. The grief was real and I sat and journaled on it. Whatever your reason for grieving, Chantal and I offer lived experience, share stories and tips on how to cope with it. We also give tips for people who know people who are grieving and who might not know how to best support them. To find out more about Chantal, find her on Facebook at Soothing conversations with Chantal.
In today's episode, I want to share six ways you can be kinder to the planet this Christmas. As with everything, what matters is progress not perfection. This was emphasised to me as I felt like an imposter joining the Green party in October as I am not vegan, not even vegetarian and I drive my son to college every day. Sometimes we don't do anything because we are not doing it perfectly and we think it's not going to make any difference. That is not true. Every small thing we do can make a huge difference, especially if everyone did. There are six areas where you can make changes that will be kinder to the planet over Christmas: Christmas tree Presents Wrapping Lights (electricity) Cards Food I encourage you to listen to the podcast for inspiration over what can be easily done to massively reduce your carbon footprint over Christmas, which is, for the average UK person, twenty two times bigger. We are talking a footprint of 500 Kg of CO2e per person whereas it is only 22 Kg on a regular day. Christmas sadly increases our waste massively through packaging, unwanted gifts and food waste. A staggering 5 million meals are wasted over Christmas. The title of this episode is also a nudge to the fact I joined the UK Green party in October so it will definitely be the Greenest Christmas Ever for me. It is not the first time I talk about politics on the podcast. I have done so already in EP 43 Should you be involved in politics as a spiritual seeker. The reason it's important for me to mention this on a spiritual podcast is that I feel angelic energy around the leader of the Green party, Jack Polanski. So if you live in the UK and have not had a chance to hear this man talk, I encourage you to watch this YouTube video to get stared. I was in London the weekend of the 22nd of November and I went to see the Christmas lights on Regent Street. This made me wonder if people believe that angels only come to visit around Christmas time. This episode is the result of that thought. Is it a yes or a no? In the episode I answer that question in depth. The short answer is yes and no. Yes the angels definitely visit us around Christmas because that is when we think of them the most. It is our thoughts that call angels in. As we talk about angels, sing about them and feature them on cards, wrapping paper, etc, they are going to draw closer. The same is true of dark entities, so there is your warning. In the episode, I list the top five Christmas films that feature angels but also talk about the series called Supernatural because coincidently, a few days before I decided to do this episode, an angel appeared for the first time in the series. I also mention how hard Christmas can be when we don't feel jolly and especially when we have lost a loved one the year leading up to Christmas. Sometimes it can be hard for many years. Grief doesn't have a set deadline. I also answered no to the question because they are not around us only around Christmas and I invite you to think about them often. Previous episodes that talk about angels: EP 18: Can lawyers be angels in disguise? EP 47: How to work with angels? EP 78: Five obstacles between you and your angels EP 93: Angel numbers If you would like to work with me and the angels, why not book a discovery call to see what we can do for you.
In today's episode, my guest and I explore the connection between high performance sports and spirituality. I have to admit that I didn't quite see the link when we discussed having her on the podcast but now that the episode is done, there was so much gold in it. Stephanie Kakris is a High Performance Coach with a background in sports psychology, coaching but she brings a unique angle to her practice by integrating spiritual practices to help athletes be in the present moment and detach their self worth from the win. Her work with clients has highlighted that the most successful athletes are able to detach from the outcome and focus purely on the joy and the pursuit of perfection in their game or event. She also points out that the spiritual world does not focus enough on the body and the physical aspect of our experience, which is a mistake. Over coming our physical limitations by thriving to be the best athlete we can is a path of self mastery just as much as other spiritual pursuits. It is not healthy to have so much emphasis on the mind only and to live in our heads and everyone can benefit from moving more. But we also had a conversation about achievement, goals and the meaning of life. Some athletes make the mistake of thinking that they life will end if they don't win a race or an event. And this can actually trip them up on their pursuit of success. Stephanie teaches these individuals how to get in the flow state. The only sustainable state that can help us break through the limits of our minds and often bodies too. Join us in a conversation that turned out to be fascinating where even spirit guides were discussed. To find out more about Stephanie, check her website. You can also reach her through Facebook.
Announcement: Sign up for my brand new challenge that starts on the 26th of January 2026 called Get Your Energy Back and received weekly tips on how to increase your energy levels in small and doable ways. I have just been interviewed by a journalist of Metro, who told me that it felt very refreshing writing an article about me because it was so positive and a great change from the doom and gloom. She interviewed me about my journey of going from being a lawyer to a modern mystic who talks to the angels every day - a journey that I have retraced in my second memoir called Spiritual Lawyer, which is available on Amazon. This got me thinking about how the media, the news and politics have a very heavy and often dark energy and what we should be doing about it. A study by a Scottish University (sorry I don't know which one) has revealed that in the 70s, the British media had a radio of 3 positive stories to 1. By the year 2000, the ratio as of 1 to 18. I am sure this has got worse since plus we have the echo chambers of social media. On top of that, these bad news generate thousands of negative comments on social media posts with a level of nastiness that has frankly reached levels that I find unimaginable. Where is all the nastiness coming from? Because of this, I wanted to do an episode today about the energy of the news and politics and show you the effect it is bound to have on your mental health but also your energy field, that bubble of energy that surrounds our bodies to protect us. The most effective cleanser for all that negativity is nature, in particular the sun. But even the sun has been portrayed now as toxic, and I want you to know, friends, that it is not. Yes, precautions have to be taken during heat waves during the middle of the day, but for the most part, the sun is a wonderful to clear your energy. So are the wind, the rain, forests, ocean air and more. My invitation is to go on a news detox but also to vote with your clicks and stop feeding the negative news monster so that you can balance out the input of negativity in your life. Your nervous system was never designed to cope with so much negativity in the first place.
Last week I received a birthday card from my mother after six years of silence. My first reaction was fear and anxiety. In this episode I discuss the concept of forgiveness and spirituality as applied to my personal situation with my mother. I use my example to explore several topics that link in to forgiveness after giving some context of why I didn't realise I had been abused as a child. Mostly it was because I believed that abuse was hitting a child, malnourishing them or sexually abusing them. I did not know about the concept of gaslighting. This came way later in life. Should I forgive my mother? She is going to be 90 years old next year and has been going to all my relatives telling them how heart broken she is about the wall I built between us. Am I being the cruel person by not allowing her back in my life? This is actually a different topic altogether than the topic of forgiveness. In order to record today's episode without fear of repercussion, I have had to change my name, record it in a different language (although my mother speaks well enough English that she could listen to it - If she decides to though she will have been forewarned) and moved to another country. BeforeI did these three things I had constant ear throat and mouth infections from not being able to speak my truth that led to a sort of piece de resistance, so to speak, which was a cyst that grew on my thyroid and that led to emergency surgery as it was suffocating me. The truth I wasn't speaking was literally killing me. Should I forgive my mother? Let's look at the word "should" and say that no one should be pressured into forgiving, whether it's the right to do or not. Forgiveness is an internal process that has to happen organically. Sometimes, time is a great healer but more often than not, it is not and we need an intervention such as therapy to help with the process. In the words of Nelson Mandela "Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies." There is a benefit in forgiving someone or at the very least letting go of resentment (they can be two different things) but only if this does not involve gaslighting yourself. I also wanted to add that there are things that I believe cannot be forgiven which involve intentionally causing harm to another. One thing is for sure no one should tell you what to do when it comes to forgiveness because no one walks in your shoes. At the end of the episode I offer a process that can help you let go of the negative feelings you may feel around what someone has done to you. If you need further help, though, particularly if this is contributing to your burnout, do book a discovery call with me by clicking this link. As a sustainable success coach, I would love to support you in letting go of relationships that cause you to be exhausted or at least to create some healthy boundaries around them.
In this week's episode, I explore the idea of the veil that separates the spirit world from us, where the idea comes from, why some people think it thins around Halloween and where I think the veil actually resides. For as long as I have explored the New Age, I have heard people say that the veil thins around Halloween. At first, I was flattered. For once, the time of my birthday felt special rather than a time of the year where the weather was horrible and the clocks went backwards. This year, I finally decided to stand by what I believe, which is that this whole veil is thinning around Halloween is superstition and I am tired of people rehashing it without questioning where it comes from and whether it is true. So I did a bit of research and found that the idea of a veil between the spirit world and our world comes from Celtic folk lure. It seems that druids and pagans use incantations to pierce that veil in order to communicate with the spirit world. This still does not explain why it would happen particularly around Halloween. A bit more digging revealed that symbolically, the Autumn is a time where death enters everyone's mind (provided they live in the Northern Hemisphere though - so let's be aware of culture centricity here) due to the fact that the leaves are falling off trees and nature seems to be dying. Unsurprisingly, that would lead to people thinking of the dead more often at that time of year. That's all. This does not prove that the veil is thinning. In the second part of the episode, I talk about where I believe the veil truly resides, how to lift the veil and discuss whether lifting the veil should be pursued and how. If you would like to book an aura and energy field balancing and repair session, click here to buy. The investment at the time of this episode is £98 for a session. Dean James is the host of the Used To Be Do Count (U2BDC) podcast, which explores what his guests used to be because who we used to be an important contribution to who we are today and we should not abandon a part of ourselves. Dean grew up in a religious environment, not because of his parents but because of school as most primary school in England are denomination schools under the umbrella of the Church of England. However, Dean has an interesting background as his father is a Turkish Cypriot, so he grew up influenced by Muslim values. His mother is Irish Catholic. And Dean feels that, having been exposed to both religions, they share common values. At one point in his youth, Dean went to Church and identified as Christian but one day, he heard the Priest that he admired and who was a mentor to him, do a homophobic sermon. And at that moment, even though Dean didn't know he was gay, his body froze. And that put him off church. It felt like milk turned sour. Since then Dean has dabbed into meditation and Buddhism. Dean used to be a professional dancer and he definitely feels that dancing is part of his spirituality. Sadly however, he stopped his career as a dancer when his brother died. And has recently taken up dancing again, though not professionally. He believes that dance can unlock our sixth sense because it unlocks energy in our bodies. He stopped dancing at the time of the death of his brother because something got blocked by grief in his body and he felt "Who am I to feel joy through dance when my brother is dead?" So Dean founded a charity for the following seven years. To hear the full interview, click here. To listen to Dean's podcast click here. To follow the podcast on IG, click here.
