This week is packed with huge drama, massive scoreline swings, emotional penalty shootouts, two amazing listener voice notes… and some seriously spicy movement on the predictions leaderboard. Two matches. Three points for Issy. One point for George. The comeback is officially ON. • Arsenal 3–0 Sunderland — Issy calls the exact score for a perfect two-point bonus • Manchester United Women 2–0 Leicester — Issy nails the result George picks up one point from the Arsenal match… meaning the leaderboard now stands at George 11 – Issy 9. The gap tightens. The tension rises. A full match report from Issy’s cup game — including a late equaliser, a cold-blooded penalty shootout, and not one but two incredible saves. Safe to say… Issy was in full goalkeeper superhero mode. To celebrate the brand-new Ultimate Football Heroes book all about Vini Jr, the quiz this week is focused on the Real Madrid superstar. • Did he score the Champions League winning goal? • Did he start at Manchester City? • Has he won FIFA Men’s Player of the Year? Two statements are true. One is a lie. Did you spot it? A brother–sister duo join the show: • Poppy shares news of her first ever hat-trick and her love for Chloe Kelly. • Toby, also known as The Assist King, talks about playing on the wings, supporting Liverpool, and seeing an incredible tackle right in front of the Kop. Two brilliant messages from two brilliant young footballers. Two massive fixtures ahead: • Manchester City v Newcastle in the Premier League • Chelsea Women v Liverpool Women in the WSL Issy goes bold. George goes bolder. And only one of them can close (or extend) that small but crucial gap… Send in YOUR predictions and take them on! Thanks for joining us for Episode 13. Keep practising, keep scoring, keep saving (like Issy!), and keep loving the beautiful game. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
This episode kicks off with a cracking joke from Issy and only gets better from there. We’ve got huge Premier League talking points, WSL surprises, academy insights, and a brand new game called Pitch Perfect. Two matches, two curveballs. • Liverpool 4–1 Newcastle • London City Lionesses 2–1 Brighton George grabs one point for calling the Liverpool win, while Issy stays on 6. The leaderboard now stands at George 10 – Issy 6, and the comeback is still very much being promised… This week’s quiz is packed with football facts, legends, record-breakers, and a couple of sneaky trick questions. Do you know: • How many matches Premier League teams actually play? • Whether Haaland has passed 100 goals? • Who the real Invincibles were? Play along and send in your score — bonus points for anyone who gets all 6. Emily joins the show to share her Chelsea Women support, a very cool story from school, and a bold prediction for the WSL. Issy and George react to her thoughts and break down Chelsea’s tough season so far. You told us you loved stadium quizzes — so here’s a twist. We name the team… You guess their home ground. From Anfield to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to the mighty Moss Rose, how many can you get right? Two big fixtures coming up: • Arsenal v Sunderland in the Premier League • Leicester City Women v Manchester United Women in the WSL Issy predicts tight battles. George predicts goal fests. Who’s right this week? Send your predictions in to challenge the hosts! Thanks for joining us for Episode 12. This week kicks off with a cracking football joke and only gets better from there. Massive WSL shock results, tight Premier League battles, and a brand new quiz make this one of our most fun episodes yet. Two huge matches last week… and total chaos. • Manchester City beat Wolves 2–0 • Arsenal stunned Chelsea with a historic win at Stamford Bridge Issy and George both score a single point in the Premier League fixture, but miss out completely in the WSL match. The leaderboard remains locked at George 9 – Issy 6. The tension builds… This week’s message comes from another George — and he absolutely steals the show. A brilliant update on Macclesfield’s FA Cup run, his academy life, and some all–round top–tier enthusiasm. Issy and George respond with stories from their own academy days… including an unexpected Georgia Stanway connection! A brand new game! This time the hosts give the team, and you must guess the stadium. Six questions… starting simple and quickly getting seriously tricky. From Anfield to Kingsmeadow to a special shout-out for Macclesfield’s Moss Rose, this quiz will test even the biggest footy brains. Two exciting matches to call: • Liverpool v Newcastle in the Premier League • Brighton v London City Lionesses in the WSL Issy predicts double draws. George predicts double 2–1 scorelines. And what a week of football drama it has been. The AFCON final delivered one of the wildest endings we’ve ever seen… a walk-off moment, a missed panenka, extra-time madness, and a heroic performance from Sadio Mané. Issy and George break down every twist and turn. Our hosts went big last week, predicting goals galore… but Manchester United stunned everyone with a huge win in the derby, and Chelsea dominated their FA Cup tie. Issy and George both pick up a single point, keeping the leaderboard at George 9 : Issy 6. Still plenty of time for an Issy comeback! Luca joins the show with a brilliant message — sharing his football thoughts, his cup final hopes, and a fantastic question about PSR rules. George and Issy break down what PSR really means using the clearest explanation yet. Can clubs spend whatever they want? Not quite! A brand new game! Izzy and George break it all down with plenty of laughs. Predictions Recap Two matches last week… two nil-nil draws. Neither Issy nor George saw it coming, meaning zero points all round. Predictions Recap Last week we tackled Bournemouth v Arsenal. Issy went 3–1, George went 2–1, and the real score was 3–2 to Arsenal. One point each, no exact-score bonus, meaning the leaderboard now stands at George 8 – Issy 5. Still plenty of time for Issy to close the gap. Predictions Recap Issy went for a 2–2 draw. George predicted a 3–2 goal fest. But Chelsea v Aston Villa finished 2–1 to Villa, meaning no one picks up points this round. Merry Christmas and welcome back to the Ultimate Football Heroes Podcast. Issy the shot stopper is here feeling festive, and George returns still limping slightly from his hamstring injury but determined not to miss our Christmas special. Santa’s Football Letters George kicks things off with something very surprising. He has somehow got hold of letters that football managers have written to Santa, from Mikel Arteta asking for the Premier League title to Serena Wiegman wanting a brand new trophy cabinet. Even Wolves’ manager Rob Edwards makes a very desperate request. Predictions Recap Last week we predicted Everton v Arsenal in the Premier League and Sunderland v Ipswich in the WSL Cup. Arsenal won, as expected, but the real drama came in the WSL Cup, where Sunderland came from behind to win. That means George picks up two points for the exact score and keeps his lead on the scoreboard, now 7–4. Listener Voice Note This week we hear from Freddy, who scored a brilliant hat trick in his match. George talks about the joy of scoring three goals, while Issy explains the pressure and pride of being in goal. Big thank you to Freddy for sending in such a brilliant message.
