Star Wars Fans Speak Out

2025-11-2102:32:06

As is our tradition, we dedicate ample time to listener feedback on the final RFR before Thanksgiving. It's our way of turning the spotlight onto our audience to say "thanks" for being so loyal and supportive. From your comments about new releases like Star Wars Visions to thoughts on The Original Trilogy, we love hearing from you. Is Obi-Wan the greatest Jedi ever? When did fans first learn The Empire Strikes Back was not "Star Wars II" but instead "Episode V"? What about the '90s when Star Wars was only being represented by The Expanded Universe and PC games like Dark Forces. These are just some of the questions our audience of superfans are throwing at us. Plus, we take a brief look back at the history of the Baby Yoda balloon at The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, updates on the potential official release and 4K upgrade of the original 1977 version of Star Wars, the Yoda statue controversy in Jonesborough, Tennessee and more.
Earlier this week, it was announced that the long-running Star Wars Insider magazine will be releasing its final issue in early 2026. We look back at it's legacy and impact with founder Dan Madsen, who joins us In The Cantina to share behind-the-scenes stories about the early days of the magazine, his favorite memories of interviewing George Lucas, and his feelings about the magazine he started over 30 years ago finally coming to an end. This week on RFR, Stuart joins us In The Cantina to share fascinating stories about working on the Star Wars Original Trilogy and beyond. If you don't trust Dave Filoni by now, you're an idiot. Filoni isn't Abrams.

There's far too much whining in this. Darth Maul coming back led to awesome stories. Ahsoka is happier with Luke because he's a remnant of her Master and Grogu was from the old Order. Nothing in any of these shows is as lazy as JJ Abrams resetting the status quo and going back to Rebels vs Empire, but you'd rather blame Rian Johnson for the failings of the sequels.

I definitely need more Qui-gon in the next Kenobi series if there is one. I was so shaken up and nostalgic when he showed up at the end of season 1 of Kenobi.

The more I listen, the more I wish Obi-Wan had been the movie. I think a lot of the short comings and weird parts had a better play in the original movie script. The only thing that I would have changed from the movie version is the Palpatine part. I agree less was more with him for being the great manipulator we know him to be. Also, Bring on more Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn!! He was my favorite part of the Phantom Menace.

Part IV wasn't unnecessary. It was part of this thing called a character arc. The flashback was perfect. It served the story, not the fans.

The TV shows are better than all the sequels, but the Last Jedi is the best sequel. Every single problem in that trilogy springs from the Force Awakens. Blame JJ, not Rian.

There are no misteps with the Special Editions. George Lucas' vision supersedes the opinion of any fan.

Also, Solo is easily the best Disney Star Wars movie. Darth Maul is in it. That makes it superior to all three sequels and Rogue One, which is inherently flawed for not having the balls to bring back Hayden as Vader.

Adi Gallia was killed by Maul and Oppress. Stass Allie is killed in the Order 66 montage and she's not on Coruscant.

Got to agree with Swank. There was a boycott Solo campaign by Star Wars fans to send them the message to KK and Lucasfilm how disappointed they were with TLJ and what it did to Luke. They clearly still don't get it all these years later, and you don't either Jimmy. The majority of fans hated TLJ.

Luke in the Last Jedi is built on what JJ Abrams set up. It's not Rian's fault Abrams put Luke in exile and wiped out his Jedi Order.

I'd sacrifice Chewbacca on the Stone Table of Narnia to get a Sequel Trilogy that respects the name Skywalker.

Ben Solo shouldn't have been a ghost, he should've been alive. He's the Last Skywalker. Respect him
