Description

A podcast for anyone discerning a vocation to the Catholic priesthood.

One's vocation from God is a deeply personal adventure. Yet frequently there are common threads that run through the Lord's calling. Three Catholic priests sit down to discuss the familiar questions that come along with discernment while also sharing the joys and challenges of their own priestly adventure with God.

We're here to answer questions, share our priesthood, and grow in openness to God's will.

Fr. Caleb Kuestersteffen joins us today to talk about memories from both the first years of the House of Formation and his experience working in radio and TV before getting into some tangents about the meaning of his name. Then we jump into his vocation story and the series of small assents that led him to the total "yes" of ordination.
Fr. Nic Jurgensmeyer joins us today to share more than you ever wanted to know about mushroom farms and to explain how to properly pronounce his hometown of Miami, OK. Finally he gives his vocation story and talks about his experience of switching dioceses, discerning in and out of seminary, and ultimately finding great joy in life as a priest.
It is great to be joined today by a religious priest serving right here in Wichita: Fr. Donald Rank, a Capuchin Franciscan Friar. We talk a bit about who the Capuchins are and what they are up to around Wichita. Finally, we hear how Fr. Donald went from a child convert to Catholicism to college golfer and FOCUS missionary before the seeds planted by experience with a skateboarding friar bloomed into his Franciscan vocation.

Love is in the air as we talk about our most memorable experiences with weddings and then discuss different methods and hot takes we have developed in working with couples in preparation for the sacrament of marriage.
Today we are joined by Scott Carter, the Coordinator of the Father Kapaun Guild. He shares with us his experience of seminary before discerning a call to marriage, the state of Fr. Kapaun's cause for canonization, and his sense of Fr. Kapaun's vocation story. Be sure to listen to the end for an invitation to a special pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Korea in 2027, which includes visits to sites from Fr. Kapaun's life and ministry.
Fr. Marco De Loera joins us today to talk about growing up in Mexico, his love for cooking, and ultimately how Our Lady of Guadalupe interceded to lead him to his vocation as a priest.
Today Deacon Peter Bergkamp joins us to talk about his brother Brian, who 10 years ago was a seminarian nearing ordination when he died while saving another's life in a tragic accident on the Arkansas River. We share what we remember of him, the days surrounding his passing, and the impact his example of life and death continues to have on us today.
Enjoy the rest of Fr. Raymund's vocation story, including about how it all (possibly) started at West Acres bowling alley.
Today we welcome in Fr. Raymund Snyder, O.P. to hear about his experience studying and now teaching in Rome and game days as a member of the Notre Dame marching band. Finally, he gives big time Dominican energy as he specifies and explains the beginnings of his vocation story as he grew up in Wichita. Tune in next week to hear the rest.
Today we welcome in Fr. Miles Swigart for a wild ride of a conversation, which includes how he chose seminary over a promising dance career and the tale of how Nickelback quite possibly saved his faith and vocation.
We are happy to be joined by Fr. Lawrence Carney to hear about his unique mission seeking out lost souls as he walks the streets of Wichita and traveling the world to preach about the Holy Face of Jesus. Finally, he shares his vocation story.
Today we welcome in Fr. Jason Borkenhagen to share about his priestly life and his experience of studying in Rome and writing his doctoral thesis on St. Thomas Aquinas and the priesthood. Then, he recounts his vocation story and how a fwe simple invitations led him from wanting a family with 20 kids to the ordained priesthood.
Fr. Ken Schuckman joins the studio to talk about what retirement is like as a priest and a recent pilgrimage to Medjugorje. Then he recounts the story of the Lord leading him in and out of high school seminary, through a broken engagement and ultimately to a mature and authentic call to priestly life.

We start off by throwing around ideas for the one question we'd ask Pope Leo if given the chance. Then we dive into a conversation on conversation: why small talk is important, methods for maintaining and directing conversation and, finally, our hot takes on cussing.
We are delighted to have two Marian Sisters join us to talk about their recent experience with the Feast for Fiat as well as sharing memories from different milestone moments in their religious life, including chopping off their hair and performing plays written about sisters in honor of their first vows. Then Sr. Abigail Marie shares her vocation story.
Today we sit down to talk with Fr. David Marstall about his (in)famous dog Osa, mountain climbing, priestly transitions, and how his call to the priesthood began with a deal made with God to get into the middle school band.
Fr. Paul Sheller, a monk of Conception Abbey, joins us to share some stories from seminary with Fr. Chad, including a garage sale phase and the rods in Fr. Paul's back from surgery for scoliosis. Finally, Fr. Paul shares his vocation story as well as a few opportunities for anyone to deepen their spiritual life through Benedictine spirituality.
We begin by discussing our practice of "Videamus", in which we watch and discuss films with seminarians in order to deepen their artistic and cultural experience. Then we discuss our experience and hot takes from the recent Clergy Conference and the presentations by Fr. John Riccardo and Acts XXIX.
Today we welcome into the studio our first Jesuit priest, Fr. Michael Wegenka, S.J. We discuss his recent experience serving in Kenya as well as his take on the current state of the Jesuit order. He also shares how a priest rapping during a homily led to a curiosity about the priesthood, and the personal accompaniment of a Jesuit priest at his high school led him to his vocation.
