Description

Three years ago, two London lads opened a kids drama company in Thailand.

In Abstract Chats, Jake and Jason, the founders of Abstract Kids, invite you along on their journey through the organised chaos of growing a company built around imagination.

Week-to-week, you’ll hear Jake, Jason, and guests like some Abstract kids, friends, and the rest of the team, discuss a little bit of everything: a mix of fun behind-the-scenes stories, insider looks at their new endeavors, and wider discussions on topics that are shaping culture, the next generation, and the company. Nothing’s off limits!

They’ll answer questions like: How do we come up with the wild stories behind our original plays? Why did we fly to Nepal to present at a children’s festival? What does the rest of the Abstract crew do every day? How does spirituality shape what we do? And where oh where are we going from here?

So whether you’re part of the Abstract Kids family or just curious how two friends turned a wild idea into a thriving program on the other side of the world, come join us and get a little more Abstract.

It all started with a random message online… and somehow resulted in Jake and Jason performing an interactive show at an International Children’s Theatre Festival in Nepal.   In this episode, they share how they created and performed an interactive show for kids throughout the week, the moments that caught them off guard, and what it was like connecting through humor and performance in a completely different cultural setting. An energetic episode full of stories, reenactments, and reasons they want to do it all again. 🎧 New episodes Wednesdays!   📸 Follow us: Instagram → @abstractchats TikTok → @abstract.chats Everywhere → @abstractkidsdrama
Tia and Charlotte take over for an open conversation about how they found their way into Abstract Kids, how the work has shaped them, and their favorite moments along the way.   🎧 New episodes every Wednesday!   📸 Follow us: Instagram → @abstractchats TikTok → @abstract.chats Everywhere → @abstractkidsdrama
Jake and Jason reflect on taking their Beetlejuice camp from Phuket to Hong Kong and rediscovering what it feels like to start fresh. With a small group of kids, big transformations happened, especially through a show exploring life, death, and the liminal space between. They also break down how they wrote an original show inspired by Beetlejuice and Beetlejuice 2, and they share the funny, creative, and meditative moments from both the Phuket and Hong Kong camps. Plus, they look ahead at their upcoming trip to Nepal. 🎧 New episodes every Wednesday!   📸 Follow us: Instagram → @abstractchats TikTok → @abstract.chats Everywhere → @abstractkidsdrama
Jake and Jason dive into the “what do we actually do?” of it all. They rewind to the early days, just the two of them running small free workshops, and trace how that scrappy start grew into bigger stories, camps, and events. They share their best and worst camp memories, how birthday parties accidentally became a whole thing, and what they love… and not-so-love about doing in-school classes. Along the way, they recall how their approach to events has evolved, paint a picture of how they incorporate spiritual messages into the stories, and reveal how camp shows have a weird tendency to echo real life (like a storm in the script foreshadowing an actual storm that shuts down an entire camp!) Plus, they peek ahead at their Beetlejuice camp and their first-ever international leap to Hong Kong. 🎧 New episodes every Wednesday!   📸 Follow us: Instagram → @abstractchats TikTok → @abstract.chats Everywhere → @abstractkidsdrama
In this episode, Jake and Jason revisit the very first scene they ever performed together as teenagers, in which two unknowingly long-lost twins make a pact to become “blood brothers”. They reflect on their early theatre days, what it really means to be present on stage, how knowing yourself can make you a better performer, and why drama skills are just as useful in everyday life as they are in acting. 🎧 New episodes every Wednesday!   📸 Follow us: Instagram → @abstractchats TikTok → @abstract.chats Everywhere → @abstractkidsdrama
In the very first episode of Abstract Chats, founders Jake and Jason kick things off by sharing how it all began, from meeting as young performers to creating a company that helps kids build confidence through creativity and play.   They talk about their roots in drama and teaching, the early ideas and events that shaped Abstract Kids, and the values that guide everything they do. It’s a fun, touching, and sometimes silly conversation reflecting back on the beginning of their story.   🎧 New episodes every Wednesday!
