This episode was recorded during Staff Appreciation Week, a time set aside to give thanks for the dedicated staff of Saint Andrews. Throughout the week, members shared meals, gifts, and heartfelt expressions of gratitude for a team that serves with faith, care, and excellence. Tune in as Bob Inskeep interviews Julie Cazin, who, after nearly 40 years of teaching middle school math, has joyfully served at Saint Andrews for the past 12 years. Her story reflects a staff that truly loves what they do—evidenced by decades of faithful service, including five staff members who have worked at SAPC for more than 20 years.
This episode features an update on our Meals on Wheels ministry, including a brief look at its beginnings right here in Raleigh. You'll hear how blessings flow from SAPC every weekday as we help serve nearly 200 meals. Meals on Wheels delivers nutritious meals, connection, and care to seniors and adults with disabilities, helping them remain independent at home. The program also includes nine Friendship Cafés and relies on 12 volunteer locations—Saint Andrews among them. Volunteers are always needed. Tune in to hear from Jacks Reese, SAPC Distribution Coordinator, and Sarah Walker, Director of Development and Communications, as they share the impact and history of this vital ministry.
The episode highlights how the Haiti Reforestation Project continues to persevere in the wake of political violence and recent natural disasters. For 35 years, this ministry has grown steadily and remarkably. Today, more than 19 million trees stand where erosion once washed the land into the sea. Forty-five nurseries now produce over half a million seedlings each year, creating a working forest that provides income, food, wood for crafts, and supports a thriving school. In this podcast episode, you'll learn more about this inspiring work from church members Joel Millikan and Elizabeth Lusk, who have visited Haiti many times.
Loaves and Fishes empowers under-resourced K–12 youth through long-term, relationship-based programs that nurture mind, body, and spirit. An example is Pride for Parents, an annual holiday toy and gift sale providing Wake County families with high-quality, affordable items. By selling—not giving—the items, every parent can enjoy the joy of choosing for their children. In this podcast episode, discover what makes a Pride for Parents store special—and why Loaves and Fishes' new executive director has a personal connection to the 40-year-old after-school program.
