I'm so grateful to share this space with you and to talk about how this new chapter began. In this episode, I'm reflecting on the unexpected turns that shaped the start of my year. A simple day trip reminded me how much I loved my life, and only a week later, I received a letter telling me I had to leave the home that had become my sanctuary. I talk about what it felt like to be pushed into an in-between season and how losing my dad shortly after changed the ground beneath me. It was a time that asked me to soften, to grieve, and to trust the quiet pull toward what was coming next, even when nothing felt steady. I also share how The Shoreline grew out of this tender space and why these transitions have become such an important part of my work. My hope is that this episode helps you feel less alone in whatever you are moving through and reminds you that your next becoming is already forming gently within you.   Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. I'm sharing some updates on my dreamy early morning routine, and then I dive into what happened when I went on my first solo overnight backpacking trip. Well, I wasn't completely alone because I brought Cauchy with me but I didn't see another human out on the trail. I talk about a "cheetah in still mode" versus a "cheetah in action mode" and my plans for the rest of the month. If you find yourself in transition and are ready to soften and allow instead of controlling and taking action, then this is right up your alley!
In this episode, I'm reflecting on two themes that have been on my mind lately: visibility and creativity. As someone building an online business and sharing creative work publicly, I've been exploring what it means to be visible as a leader while also noticing a growing desire for privacy and time away from social media. Platforms that once felt inspiring and creatively energizing now often feel draining or disconnected, and I've been questioning whether they still serve the purpose they once did. This reflection led me to think more deeply about creativity and what it really means to live a creative life. For me, creativity is less about productivity or performance and more about curiosity, expression, and allowing ideas to unfold naturally. Writing has become one of the primary ways I explore that process. At the same time, creativity often feels most meaningful when it is witnessed. There's something powerful about creating something that matters to you and having another person see it, acknowledge it, and connect with it. When those moments of authentic witnessing feel harder to find online, it can raise questions about where genuine creative communities live today. This episode is an open reflection on the evolving role of social media, the longing for authentic connection, and the search for spaces where creativity can still feel shared and alive. In this episode, I'm sharing a collective tarot reading for the month of March. I'm using a four card clarity spread and drawing from the Wild Unknown Tarot and Animal Spirit decks, which have been part of my practice since the beginning of my tarot journey. The overall theme for this month is the Turtle card, which feels grounding, wise, and deeply supportive. This energy invites us to return home to ourselves, to honor the path we have walked, and to trust the wisdom we have gathered along the way. As we move toward spring and the start of a new astrological cycle, there is a sense of renewal and beginning again. Everything you have experienced has shaped you for this moment. The supporting cards, the Ten of Pentacles and the Ten of Cups, speak to abundance, generosity, and fullness. They remind us that there is beauty in both giving and receiving, and that when we tend to our emotional world and our physical life with care, we create a sense of overflow rather than depletion. There is an invitation here to trust your role in your community and to recognize that simply being yourself is a form of service. The Star card anchors the reading with hope and optimism. It encourages us to look up, to soften our grip on certainty, and to allow ourselves to believe in renewal. Even after dark or uncertain seasons, light returns. There is richness in simple pleasures and in the foundational spaces where earth meets water. This month is an invitation to slow down just enough to reconnect with what matters most. Tend to your inner world. Care for your outer life. Trust that your story is meaningful and that your presence carries light, even when you cannot see the impact directly.   Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. In this episode, I'm sharing something deeply personal and a little unexpected. After taking a short break from the podcast, I reflect on a season that brought both grief and celebration, and how those two experiences intertwined in a way I never could have planned. I talk about returning to something that has long connected me to my dad, watching the Seattle Seahawks. What began years ago as a way to feel closer to him has grown into something entirely my own. This first football season without him was emotional and tender, yet it became filled with moments of joy, connection, and even celebration in ways that surprised me. Through this experience, I realized something important about myself. Sometimes the places where we feel most aligned, most intuitive, and most ourselves are not the places we would have expected. Spiritual connection and joy do not always look quiet or serene. Sometimes they show up in loud stadiums, in shared rituals, and in collective celebration. This episode is an invitation to let your life surprise you. The things that light you up might not fit into the story you once imagined for yourself. And that is more than okay.
In this episode, I'm offering something a little different and sharing a collective tarot reading for the month of February. This reading was inspired by my own need for grounding and clarity during a time when the energy has been feeling especially heavy, both personally and collectively. The overall theme invites us to notice small glimmers of light and inspiration, even when things feel dark or uncertain. I explore how creativity, expression, and moments of goodness can become anchors during challenging seasons. The supporting cards encourage us to zoom out, soften perfectionism, and approach our emotional landscape with curiosity rather than judgment. This episode also touches on the value of mentorship, learning, and allowing ourselves to go deeper with the guidance and tools that support us. This reading is an invitation to move gently, stay flexible, and trust that even discomfort can illuminate the path forward. When we allow ourselves to notice the light that already exists, we create space for hope, connection, and growth to emerge.
When Flow Falters

When Flow Falters

In this episode, I'm reflecting on what happens after we shift into action and the momentum begins to build. I talk about a familiar pattern that surfaces for me once I move out of stillness, when things feel slightly out of flow and old habits start to reappear. Rather than seeing this as a setback, I'm learning to understand it as part of the process. I explore what it looks like to balance action with rest while remaining in a season of movement. In the past, leaning fully into action often led me toward overgiving and burnout. This time, I'm being invited to slow down just enough to listen to my body, notice the signals it's sending, and respond with care instead of judgment. I also share how I'm redefining progress and success by showing up consistently, even when conditions are imperfect. This episode is about building something sustainable and learning to support yourself along the way, rather than pushing through at all costs. If you've been feeling out of flow or questioning your pace, this conversation is an invitation to meet yourself with curiosity, trust the timing of what's unfolding, and remember that refinement often happens in the quieter moments. In this episode, I'm sharing an update on what has been unfolding for me recently and reflecting on the shift from stillness into action. I explore an idea that has stayed with me for years, the concept of moving between two modes, resting and action, and how learning to recognize these rhythms has helped me understand myself more deeply. I talk about how the last few years, especially the past year, required deep slowness, rest, and open space. That season shaped my identity in ways I didn't fully realize at the time. Recently, I began to notice that the stillness was no longer nourishing me in the same way, and that lingering in thought without movement was becoming draining rather than supportive. I share how a conversation with my coach and a long dormant desire to complete my Pilates certification sparked a shift into action. This episode explores what it looks like to take aligned steps forward without attachment to outcome, and how momentum can build naturally when intention meets movement. This is an invitation to notice where you may be lingering too long in one mode, and to trust when it feels time to gently pivot. Stillness and action both have wisdom, and learning to move between them is part of honoring your own rhythm.
In this episode, I'm spending time with the quieter signals that surface when we slow down enough to notice them. I reflect on what it feels like to sit with uncertainty, to resist the urge to rush toward clarity, and to allow understanding to unfold in its own time. This season has been inviting me to pay closer attention to what is asking to be felt rather than fixed. I share how presence, reflection, and gentleness have become important tools for navigating this in between space. There is a kind of wisdom that emerges when we stop pushing for answers and instead listen for what is forming beneath the surface. This episode explores the value of patience, self-trust, and letting meaning reveal itself slowly. This conversation is an invitation to soften your pace, honor what you are carrying, and remember that clarity does not always arrive through effort. Sometimes it arrives through stillness, curiosity, and allowing yourself to be exactly where you are.   Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. In this first episode of 2026, I'm reflecting on the new year and why the usual rush of goal setting and reinvention may not resonate right now. I talk about winter as a season of slowing down, turning inward, and honoring the quieter rhythms that often get overlooked when the calendar flips.  I share how I personally relate to beginnings and why my birthday and other seasonal markers feel more aligned for fresh starts than January first. This episode explores the idea that there are many ways to begin again, and that it is okay to move slowly, check in with yourself, and choose what truly feels supportive.  I also reflect on what I'm carrying forward this year, including a deeper commitment to authenticity, writing, and sharing from a place of genuine excitement rather than performance. I talk about my desire to prioritize creativity, build nourishing routines, and create supportive spaces for connection, including a new writing circle. This episode is an invitation to soften into the start of the year, to release pressure, and to trust your own timing as you move toward what feels true for you. In this final episode of 2025, I'm taking a moment to pause, reflect, and gently close out a year that asked so much of me. I talk about how this season has been shaped by grief, change, and the slow shedding of an old identity, and how I am beginning to look toward the future with more clarity and softness.  I share a collection of five short personal essays written during 2024, each capturing a different moment of healing, uncertainty, and self-discovery. These pieces explore what it means to slow down, to sit with vulnerability, to release the need for certainty, and to honor the quieter truths that surface when we stop performing for the world.  This episode is an invitation to reflect on the stories that shaped you this year and to notice what feels ready to be released as you move forward. Sometimes closing a chapter looks like listening, remembering, and allowing yourself to carry only what still feels true. In this episode, I'm checking in and sharing honestly about a season that has been feeling heavy. I talk about what it has been like to move through grief that does not always have a clear trigger, and how sensitivity can feel both like a gift and a challenge. As the days grow darker and quieter, I reflect on the tension between wanting to feel less and realizing that feeling deeply is part of what makes life meaningful to me.  I share what recent experiences with numbness taught me about my relationship to emotion and presence, and why I am learning to honor the need for rest, slowness, and care during periods of deep inner change. This season has invited me to release old patterns around achievement, productivity, and proving my worth, and to trust that who I am is already enough.  This episode is a reflection on grief, identity, and the quiet work of becoming. It is an invitation to honor your feelings, notice the subtle ways you are moving forward, and allow yourself to live more deeply rather than more quickly.   Kim Kogane is a writer and intuitive guide helping you navigate the tender in-between seasons of life. In this episode, I'm sharing something that feels especially tender. I talk about how this season of transition and grief helped clarify what I truly feel called to do next. After years of exploring different paths following the closure of my jewelry business, I found myself returning to a deeper desire to share my voice and tell stories.  I open up about my journey into writing fiction and what it has been like to work on my first novel. I share how the characters found me, why the process has felt both scary and meaningful, and how learning to show up without knowing the outcome has become part of the work.  This episode is an invitation to name what you truly want, even when it feels vulnerable to do so. Sometimes the next chapter asks us to step into the unknown and trust that the path will meet us there. In this episode, I'm exploring what it means to bring more magic and meaning into everyday life. I talk about the familiar phrase everything happens for a reason and how my relationship with that idea has shifted over the years. Rather than looking for the perfect belief system, I am learning that meaning often comes from our natural desire to understand our lives and to connect with something greater than ourselves. I share how returning to simple moments of presence, especially on walks with my dog, has helped me tap back into a sense of curiosity and enchantment. Nature has become a place where I soothe my nervous system, notice patterns, and allow myself to feel a little more wonder. Whether I am paying attention to a flower, a bird, or a repeating number, these small encounters help me slow down and trust the path I'm on. This episode is an invitation to notice where magic already lives in your world and to consider how you might welcome more of it in. Meaning does not need to be grand or certain. Sometimes it begins with the smallest moments of awe that remind you you are part of something larger. Wherever you are today, I hope you take good care while the waves carry you closer. In this episode, I'm sharing the story of how tarot became a meaningful part of my life and why I've recently felt myself reconnecting with it in a deeper way. I talk about my first experience with the cards in 2017 and how seen I felt when a simple spread reflected back everything I had been carrying. It became the beginning of a practice that helped me slow down, listen inward, and trust what I was feeling. I also revisit the early days of learning the cards through journaling and small daily pulls, and how reading for friends and strangers slowly opened a new sense of purpose for me. Over time, I began to notice how often people came to me during seasons of transition and uncertainty, and how tarot created a gentle starting point for connection. In this episode, I reflect on the joy of recent readings, the trust I'm building with myself, and the way tarot continues to support my intuition and my work. My hope is that this conversation encourages you to explore the tools that help you feel grounded and guided, especially when you are moving through an in-between season. I recorded this episode while Mercury was in retrograde and am using this opportunity to reflect on what's been working for me in my life and what I can release. I spend some time talking about big life changes, how we're meant to grow and shift throughout our lives. Life is short and you're meant to experience all of it: the highs, the lows, all the goodness, and all the discomfort. It's been 4 months since I last updated you! I didn't intentionally mean to ghost you, yet here we are. In this episode I will catch you up on everything that's been happening with me and talk about my intentions for the future as we shift from winter into spring. I've been feeling called to slow down, and I invite you to do the same if it feels good. I announce my departure from social media and where you can find future updates from me. (Spoiler: it's mainly here and then my monthly newsletter.)
I'm podcasting from a very special location today! You'll have to listen to find out exactly where I am. I share what I'm doing, how it flowed for me to travel, and my thoughts on the mind's judgment. My favorite line from this episode is when I say "the universe doesn't care whether you eat a cheeseburger or salad." Which is so true! There are no right or wrong choices, simply infinite possibilities of how we get to experience our lives. If you're feeling stuck in your mind's judgment and th...
