My UK and Ireland bestselling book, FULL: THE EMPTINESS OF OVEREATING, is available here. This podcast explores nine psychological concepts that shape how we relate to food, fitness, relationships, and ourselves. Everyone should know these. They appear in everyday life. We break down moral masochism, the false self, transference, projection, projective identification, splitting, repetition and enactment, reaction formation, and displacement. These are not abstract ideas. They are everyday psychological patterns that show up in dieting, exercise, self-discipline, relationships, work, and behaviour change. Often, without us realising it. This podcast is for anyone tired of repeating the same cycles, blaming themselves, or being told the problem is willpower. It is about understanding the patterns underneath behaviour so change becomes possible without shame, punishment, or control. For coaching inquiries, click here. (https://pauldermody.com/contact/)

My new book, FULL: THE EMPTINESS OF OVEREATING, is available here. I recently received an anonymous message that deeply moved me. In it, someone shared that I had been the first example of safe masculinity they had encountered. This episode is not about praise or identity. More so, responsibility. I reflect on what it means to be experienced as safe, how influence actually works in coaching relationships, and why care, boundaries, and humility matter more than intention. We explore how presence can be impactful without becoming controlling, and how male coaches can support clients without stepping outside their role or replacing other forms of care. This conversation is an invitation to look at influence. Not to inflate it. Not to deny it. But to hold it with awareness.
My new book, FULL: THE EMPTINESS OF OVEREATING, is available here. This episode explores how limiting beliefs narrow options. From the false choice between dieting and staying miserable, to the feeling that success still does not "count," even after it has been achieved. It looks at why writing a bestselling book does not automatically resolve identity doubt, and what that reveals about permission, self-trust, and why evidence alone rarely dissolves limiting beliefs. The conversation also examines how these beliefs show up in health, food, and body image, not as a lack of effort, but as a lack of possibilities. And why real change begins when rigid binaries are replaced with better questions. This episode is about loosening beliefs that feel protective, but keep people stuck. Give me 20 minutes to show you that you're motivated. We think of weight loss as discipline and willpower. But every action (every skipped workout, every frustrating failed time you overeat, every time you diet) has a motivation behind it. Some are obvious: wanting to look better. Others are subtle: control, comfort, identity, even love. Motivation works in layers. And unless you understand those layers, you're fighting the wrong battle. This episode explores why every behaviour has a story, and why finding the real reason behind your choices is important. To book a one-hour personalised click here. Why do some of us not trust ourselves when it comes to eating? We want independence, but sometimes it feels threatening. In my experience, it comes down to two things - autonomy and intention. We all want the ability to choose and to do so deliberately with care. But why do we sabotage ourselves so often? Let's explore reasons why you might find you're not as ready for independence as you think. To book a one-hour personalised click here.
