And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." That peace is not a fleeting emotion or a wishful thought. Every so often, a story comes along that changes everything—then turns right around and changes your life. The birth of Jesus is one of those stories. But far from being a quaint holiday tradition or a distant fairy tale, this is the moment God interrupted history to say, "I'm with you." For centuries, prophets declared this truth. Now, it's no longer about pages of ancient text—it's about the real, raw presence of God in your life today; God's presence among us. This isn't a story you watch from the sidelines. It's an invitation to step into the heart of a divine plan that includes you. The story of Jesus' birth isn't just a cozy holiday scene or a fairy tale—it is history written in prophecy centuries before it came to pass. Isaiah spoke over 7 centuries before Jesus was born: "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light" (Isaiah 9:2). He foretold the miraculous sign: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel" — which means "God with us" (Isaiah 7:14). Micah pinpointed the place: a humble town called Bethlehem, "whose origins are from of old, from ancient times" (Micah 5:2). The birthplace of the King who rewrites history. This story carries immense significance—and it now includes you. For you to be you, you're a miracle. A 1 in 400,000,000,000,000 miracle. This is the odds that you even exist. But you do because God is writing the story. God isn't an untouchable deity watching as a spectator. He is the Creator who chose to enter our messy world as a vulnerable infant, born among shepherds and outsiders in a barn. This wasn't just an event at a moment in history. It is God stepping directly into human chaos, pain, and hope. The K.I.S.S. ~ God's presence among us! Too often, we treat this as a story to admire from afar—too miraculous, too good to be real. But what if it's not? What if this tiny babe actually is the Savior come to stand with you? To be Immanuel—God with us—not just then, but now. LUKE 2:1-20 2 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register. 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests." 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. Every day, life throws fear, loneliness, and doubts our way. Yet Advent invites us to live knowing God's presence is not distant but immediate. This truth demands everything from us: surrender fear for trust, despair for hope, apathy for bold action. This Christmas, don't just admire the nativity scene. Step into the story God is still writing. Let that presence close the gap between your doubts and faith. Walk forward with the undeniable truth: you are not alone—God is with you. Christmas Eve is nearly here, and for many of us, the holiday season carries a mixed bag of emotions. The bright lights and festive songs promise joy, but behind the scenes, life might feel messy, exhausting, and overwhelming. When weariness weighs down your mind, body, and spirit, it's natural to default to the easiest option—often kind of numb survival that distances you from what really matters. Yet, you can still find joy when life feels messy. You get out of life what you put into it. That "harvest" is the joy and peace that come from holding steady through life's storms. But what if you're too tired to keep going? What if the mess is drowning out the music and dimming the lights? It's okay to acknowledge that struggle. Faith isn't about perfection or having it all together. It's about choosing to see the blessings even when life's mess tries to convince you otherwise. So this Christmas Eve, as the world rushes and your energy wanes, choose to fix your eyes on the blessings rather than the mess. The season isn't just about decorations or presents—it's a chance to step into the enduring joy that outshines any difficulty. There have been many traditions over the years that I hold close to my heart. One tradition I hold close is our "joy jar." Each day, we write something we're thankful for and drop it in the jar. Watching those notes fill up feels like watching God's goodness build right before our eyes. Another is a family night where we read a story about Jesus' birth, pray together, and talk about what Christmas means—not just the fun stuff, but the why behind it all. And you can't have a birthday party without a cake. Yes, we sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus, even blowing out the candles. Philippians 4:8 encourages us to focus our minds on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. [Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8] What better time than Christmas to help our kids practice this? To invite them to thoughtfully consider what they want Christmas to feel like and be about deep down. Here's your holiday wellness toolkit: Nourish with balance. Enjoy holiday treats guilt-free, but balance them with whole foods, lean protein, and plenty of veggies to stabilize energy and mood. Hydrate intentionally. Drinking water often gets forgotten amidst hot cocoa and festive drinks. Aim for at least 8 glasses a day to fight fatigue and support digestion. Move mindfully. You don't need a full workout. Fifteen minutes of walking, stretching, or dancing to holiday tunes can reset your energy and mood. Prioritize sleep. Sleep often takes the biggest hit during this season. Commit to winding down 30 minutes earlier and create a restful atmosphere to boost recovery.
