Description

Bone & Bloom is a quiet gathering place for the stories that live beneath the surface—the ones we carry in our bodies, our memories, our breath. Through tender conversations and reflective storytelling, we explore the moments that open us, stretch us, and reveal who we are becoming.

Here, we honor the truths we’ve held tightly, the challenges that shape us, and the subtle strength that emerges when we allow ourselves to pay attention. Each episode offers insight, curiosity, and space to reconnect with yourself—especially in the moments that feel uncertain, transformative, or deeply human.

Bone & Bloom is a podcast for attuning to your inner compass, opening to your desires, and moving through life in a way that feels authentic. Blending story, personal reflection, body wisdom, and storytelling, each episode guides you to trust your intuition, embrace possibility, and step fully into a life that is truly your own.

Rooted in honesty and unfolding with care, Bone & Bloom invites you to meet yourself again, piece by piece, and to embrace the cycles and seasonality of the every day with grace.

Honoring our ancestral memory, our personal histories, and that which upholds us and the intentional and directional unfolding of our own stories.

On our altruism and personal practice. Aging and elderhood. Stoicism. Self-mastery and pragmatism. Forgivness, shame and parenting, and so much more.  Elena Brower, mother, mentor, artist, teacher, bestselling author and host of the Practice You Podcast, Elena has taught yoga and meditation since 1999. After graduating Cornell University in 1992, she designed textiles and apparel for almost a decade before focusing on yoga, meditation, art and writing. Her first book, Art of Attention, has been translated into seven languages; her second, Practice You, is a bestseller. Both Practice You and Being You are utilized as teaching tools in a variety of settings. Elena's first collection of poetry, Softening Time arrives in May 2023. Elena's yoga classes and meditations are featured on Glo. Her virtual Engaged Mentorship is renowned for inviting analog creativity into online coursework, and her Perceptive Parenting audio course is a key resource for parents. Her stunning work invites us to bring artistry and beauty into our everday, to offer our deepest listening, and to hone our attention.  You can find Elena's work at https://elenabrower.com/  You can find out more about Katonah Yoga™ at https://www.katonahyoga.com/ And to connect with The Studio and Abbie Galvin visit http://www.thestudio.yoga/ A note on this episode: Since the recording of this episode I have learned neuroscience no longer speaks of the limbic brain and the frontal cortex as being the "reptilian brain" and they are finding that emotion is far more complex than we once thought. The amygdala is no longer considered to be the "fear center" for example but is only partially and sometimes involved in the emotion of fear. I do however still find the "lizard and wizard" a useful metaphor for the tensions and types of experiences that can arise interoceptively when we're at our best and when we're in states that are not always helpful.
In this Episode I am joined by Dr. Paula Sauer. A physical therapist, movement and yoga teacher. As always this conversation is like joining us for a coffee so grab your favorite beverage and cozy up.
