Description

I walked into my first Zumba class and lasted 15 minutes before I had to leave because I couldn't breathe. I couldn't do a single jumping jack. I couldn't hold a plank. I was using 5-pound dumbbells and calling them my "big weights."

That was August 2023. Today? 600+ group fitness classes. 26 pounds down. I'm using 20-pound dumbbells, taking multiple classes in a day, and chasing the high that comes with working out and moving more every chance that I get.

I'm Famous Ashley Grant, and More Movement Please is a fitness podcast for women over 40 who are done waiting to feel stronger. Think of it as your fit after 40 survival guide, minus the unrealistic advice and the influencers who make everything look effortless.

I record most episodes from my car on the way to and from the gym, so they're quick (5-10 minutes), honest, and easy to binge. Think of me as your workout buddy who keeps it real.

This show is part accountability, part education, part inspiration. I talk about beginner fitness tips, gym motivation, what to do when you sleep through your alarm, why most fitness influencers are full of it, and how small lifestyle changes beat crash diets every single time. Sometimes I bring on guests — like my YMCA instructor Rhonda Goode, who told me the thing that changed everything: "Everyone is busy, but it's a choice to schedule exercise just like anything else."

The goal isn't a number on a scale. It's getting strong, feeling better in your body, and building a community of people who believe they deserve to move. I want this to be more than a podcast. I want it to be a movement of movement.

After nine days without moving my body, I finally got through a stretch class, and I got dizzy twice. In this health update, I'm sharing how I'm easing back into movement, why it matters so much for my mental health, and what's next while I wait on answers.I've dealt with rough nausea, weakness, and months of feeling like I needed a nap by noon. Blood test results are still pending and an ultrasound is on the calendar, but the worst finally might be behind me. Movement is the first thing I asked my doctor about, and I explain why it clears the cobwebs in my brain as much as it helps my body.I'm also breaking down why More Movement Please is moving to video. The goals are to reach the YouTube Partner Program before the watch hour requirements go up, grow our community, and make the show easier to share on social media. I fell on my way to the gym, and that's when I knew I couldn't ignore my body anymore. After more than 400 days of consistent movement, I'm on a self-imposed workout ban, and I'm heading to the doctor today. This isn't the episode I planned, but it's the one I owe you. For the last 50 days, I've been dealing with health issues that got worse fast. I got dizzy. I felt weak. Even 5 and 10 pound dumbbells were a struggle. I'm admitting I should've made that appointment sooner, and I'm sharing why I'm so stubborn about doctors.⚠️This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice. What if you're not tired? What if you're actually dehydrated? If you've been dragging through workouts and blaming it on motivation, water might be the real problem. In this episode, Ashley Grant records live from the spin room to break down why hydration is the difference between finishing strong and hitting a wall, how electrolytes fit into the picture, and the simple night-before habit that makes sure you never skip it again.⚠️This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice. Yes, you need a calorie deficit to lose weight. But if diets have left you bingeing, guilty, and hungrier than when you started, this episode is your permission slip to try something else. Ashley Grant gets real about why restriction backfired on her, how movement became the thing that actually worked, and why treating food as pure fuel instead of something to enjoy can wreck your relationship with eating. She talks through her own struggles with disordered eating, the moment a stranger told her food was "keeping her fat," and why moving your body first changes everything else naturally, from portion sizes to cravings. This isn't a diet pitch. It's a movement pitch. If you're tired of being told to restrict, count, and suffer your way to a smaller body, tune in and join the Movers and Shakers who are doing this differently.⚠️This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice. Ashley taste tests a viral protein waffle mix and asks the question nobody else will: is the extra protein actually worth five times the price? She breaks down the real numbers between her homemade waffles and a twelve dollar mix, gram for gram and dollar for dollar. Then, she gets honest about why she walked away from calorie counting, protein goals, and the diet culture mindset for good. If you're tired of health trends that ignore your grocery budget, this episode is your permission slip to skip the hype and trust your own kitchen.⚠️This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice.
