In this episode of the Call to Love Experience, host Jasmine Bellamy welcomes Reverend Dr. Mark Bozzuti-Jones to discuss the transformative power of retreat as a spiritual practice. They explore the concept of retreat not just as a physical getaway but as a necessary pause in our daily lives to reconnect with ourselves and God. Father Mark emphasizes that true spiritual practice involves being grounded, centered, and connected, and that every moment can be an opportunity for retreat, regardless of our circumstances. The conversation highlights the importance of silence and stillness in fostering a deeper relationship with love and spirituality. As they delve deeper, Jasmine and Father Mark reflect on the biblical examples of Jesus and Elijah, illustrating how strategic withdrawal is essential for spiritual leaders and followers alike. They discuss how these retreats allow individuals to recharge, remember their purpose, and cultivate a life of love. The episode culminates in an invitation to retreat, encouraging listeners to embrace the practice of retreat in their own lives, fostering a sense of community and connection with the divine. This conversation feels like a homecoming. Alexis Busetti — co-author of Migration: Experiencing God’s Care for Immigrants — was the very first guest on The Call to Love Experience, and we gathered again for a conversation that feels both full-circle and deeply timely. Together we’ll explore what it means to cultivate the heart of a migrant — to see migration not as a problem, but as a sacred practice of Love in motion. As the United States approaches Thanksgiving, we’re invited to reexamine what “home,” “land,” and “gratitude” truly mean. Through the lens of migration, we’ll explore how Love moves us from possession to participation, from dominance to solidarity, from myth to truth. Together, we’ll ask: What does it mean to cultivate the heart of a migrant in a culture built on settlement? How can the practice of Love help us decolonize our understanding of belonging? This conversation bridges our collective stories of journeying — from the desert mothers and fathers to the diaspora, to the people of Palestine today. We’ll reflect on how movement, displacement, and hospitality form us to become more like Love. Because migration isn’t just a change of place — it’s a change of heart. Step into a reflective space where Love is not just an idea, but a practice. Let’s reimagine what it means to come home to Love. 💗 Resources: Centering Scripture: Ruth 1:16-19 CEB Migration: Experiencing God’s Care for Immigrants- A 6-Week Interactive Bible Study Social Media Links: Follow Love 101 Ministries on Instagram Join Love 101 Ministries Monthly Sacred Circle via Patreon To view the recording of the live event and subscribe to Love 101 on YouTube Theme Music: Sunrise (Instrumental) by Matthew Hollingsworth Learn more about your ad choices. “My inner world has unknown terrain, and so does yours. This expanse includes our minds, hearts, wills, and spirits. The wild land within also includes our experiences, aspirations, and memories. And like it or not, this territory also includes shadowy areas of hidden influencers as well as triggering thoughts and feelings. For many of us, the wild land within remains unexplored territory that we seldom navigate. We hardly know anything about it. Some people manage to avert their gaze from their interior terrains for a lifetime.” Lisa Colón Delay, The Wild Land Within Lisa Colón DeLay is a Puerto Rican-born Latina and the author of the spiritual formation book, The Wild Land Within. This is Season 3 where we are focusing on transforming together into a Community of Practice. Deep faith invites us to securely attach to God, Eternal Love. In my experience, as we go inward to our centering place, we find a source of grounding—a place to anchor ourselves in times that may feel hard to navigate. Tonight we’ll dive into what it means to live out this truth. Together, we’ll explore what attachment theory has to do with our relationship to God, our relationship to Love. Our guests are experts on attachment theory.  On his podcast, Attaching to God, Dr. Geoff Holsclaw, a pastor and a professor, connects relational neuroscience and attachment theory to our life of faith so we grow into spiritual and relational maturity.  Dr. Rod Smith was an assistant professor for leadership development at the US Air Force Academy. He connects love, through a conceptual framework on attachment theory to authentic leadership development.
