The Bible Explained with Jenn Kokal

The story of Job is a complex and thought-provoking one, full of questions and answers that challenge our understanding of God's character and our own place in the world as Christians. As we explore the book of Job, we're going to examine the age-old question: why do righteous people suffer? Satan comes to God with another accusation against Job, claiming that he's only worshiping God because he's scared of losing his life. Job's world is turned upside down and he's hit with one calamity after another. Why does God allow good people to suffer? Should He make all suffering go away? James says God's mercy and compassion are on full display in the story of Job. How can this be when most people think God is acting evil toward Job? If you're looking for a deeper understanding of the Bible and the complex questions it raises, this episode of The Bible Explained might help you think a little differently about suffering. The chapter is full of practical advice on how to live a life that honors God, from being of sound mind and self-controlled to serving one another with the gifts we've been given: Living with a sense of urgency, knowing that the end of all things is near. This doesn't just mean the second coming of Jesus, but also the fact that our own lives are short and can end at any moment. How we be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer. What it means that "love covers a multitude of sins." Does this mean we should be doormats or that God won't hold people who hurt us accountable? As Jenn wraps up the episode, she encourages listeners to take action by reading 1 Peter 4 and thinking about how they can implement it in their own lives. She also invites listeners to pray about how they can use their spiritual gifts to serve others and to encourage those around them.   Related Episode: James 3:1-12 - The Tongue is a Destructive Fire   There are so many other things P40 does! Peter's advice to the church is to suffer well and have endurance through persecution: The concept of suffering and sin, referencing Romans 6, where Paul says that those who have died to sin are no longer bound by it.  This doesn't mean Christians are sinless, but rather that they've died to their old selves and are made alive in Christ. Putting old sins to death is a daily process, requiring faith and obedience to Jesus. The importance of studying Jesus' life and falling in love with who He is, as this helps Christians understand how to please Him.   Related Episodes: Romans 6:1-14 (From Christ) - We Crucify Sin Luke 9:23-43 (From Christ) - Say "No" to People-Pleasing   Click all these links from P40: YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hnh-aqfg8rw Ko-Fi - https://ko-fi.com/p40ministries  Website - https://www.p40ministries.com Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/p40ministries  Contact - [email protected]  Books - https://www.amazon.com/Jenn-Kokal/e/B095JCRNHY/ref=aufs_dp_fta_dsk  Merch - https://www.p40ministries.com/shop  YouVersion - https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/38267-out-of-the-mire-trusting-god-in-the-middle   Check out LifeAudio for other faith-based podcasts on parenting, studying Scripture, and more:www.lifeaudio.com   Need help memorizing Scripture?
