Ben, Erik, and Jake return to the pod and Dan and Mauricio make their debut! We discuss our goals for this week and have a discussion about free will and controlling the controllables, a phrase that Dan introduced us to last year.
Just Ben and Erik on the pod today like the og days. We start off by reflecting on our experience with this podcast, then get into our goals and what changes we can make to achieve them. We discuss perfectionism and continue our discussion from last week about obsession. We find perfectionism to be a complicated topic and discuss the fine line of being driven vs perfectionism and our thoughts on focusing on the result and the role that plays in this conversation.
Ben, Erik, Jake, and Kasey, who makes his return, are on the pod today. We talk about the progress we made with our goals and our goals for this week, then dive into a discussion about how obsession can be a good thing and even necessary when used correctly. We also talk about the role that resilience can play in obsession and the importance of getting out of your comfort zone and becoming comfortable being uncomfortable.
Ben, Erik, Jake, and Fletcher are on the podcast today while Harrison sits in the corner and listens lol. After talking about our goals, we discuss problems with social media and how comparison is the thief of joy, but jealousy should be used as a tool to find what you want and work towards it instead of letting it control you and bring you down. Ben, Erik, Harrison, and Jake, making his first appearance, are on today's episode. Jake plans to become a regular on the podcast which we're very excited about! We discuss our goals for this week and concrete ways to get there as well as the role that the environment that people are in and who people choose to surround themselves with has on who they are and who they become.
Ben, Erik, and Harrison begin the episode by discussing our goals and the challenges and importance of creating new habits at the beginning of the new semester. We eventually dive into our varying views of selfishness and the control that people have over their lives. We concluded with a discussion about optimism vs realism and why optimism is a better and healthier mindset to have.
On our first episode back from winter break, Ben, Erik, and Fletcher discuss anxiety, specifically social anxiety and the best ways of dealing with it and preventing it from making life worse. Fletcher who was on as a special guest enjoyed being part of this episode and was a great addition, hopefully he'll be part of future episodes as well! The three of us also talked about our breaks, our progress with our goals, and goals that we have going forward.
As promised, Ben and Erik begin the episode by talking about the progress of last week's goals as well as their goals for this week. We also talk about being able to see the positives, bringing positivity to the table, and how to turn negative experiences into positive learning experiences that are a part of the journey.
Harrison joins the podcast with Ben and Erik as a special guest. The three of us discuss what our current goals are that we're working towards and will discuss our progress at next week's episode as well as our goal for the following week. We're going to do this each episode going forward starting today. We also provide advice about how to stay focused and committed to goals.
Ben and Erik discuss discipline, the impact of choosing to have a positive mindset, taking control over your own journey, and the importance of aiming for big goals and holding yourself accountable, but also being happy along the way journey because the journey is life. We also talk about how we can connect these things to our personal lives, which we'll continue to do.
