Today I'm reminded that these are real people, not just heroes of the faith. Moses and Aaron had many who doubted their leadership, and they were not immune to the hurt of being betrayed by friend, a fellow members of the congregation, or leader. Maybe you can relate? As we look to God to be our inheritance and our portion, we'll find He is worth it.Today's Reading: Numbers 16-19Scripture Read or Referenced:Numbers 16:1-15, 28-31Numbers 17:1-8Numbers 18:20Wondering how to talk to people (and your kids) about the hard truths in Scripture? Do you ever feel like you're a basket case and you're falling apart? Me too. And what I love is that we serve a God that invites us to Him when we're overwhelmed, confused, and we don't know what to do. He is a God that wants to be our Savior, and that means we don't have to have it all figured out! As we read Numbers, we see time after time that God honors Moses's reliance upon Him... and it looks like you're following after his example. Keep it up, Mama.Today's Scripture: Numbers 9-12Verses Read or Referenced: Psalm 85:8Numbers 10:101 Thessalonians 4:13-18Numbers 11:1-6, 11-14, 25-29Numbers 12:1-151 Corinthians 10:13James 4:61 Peter 5:5Matthew 5:3-12Wondering how to talk to people (and your kids) about the hard truths in Scripture? You may be familiar with this sweet, concise prayer, but did you know it was from the book of Numbers? Traveling through the wilderness is not a new experience for believers of God. Whether we arrive there due to our own sin, the sin of someone else, or if God is preparing us for something better, this is a training ground for trust. Just as Israel had to trust God to faithfully provide in a barren land, we can look to the Lord to give us our daily bread when we don't understand how He will meet our needs. In the book of Numbers, God continues to point to the greater priest and the sacrifice to come: Jesus Christ. God is fully holy, completely good, and entirely loving, and we see all of that in His Word. As we conclude Leviticus, we read more of God's commandments for His people to flourish. Moms are sure to wish we lived in a society with sabbath rest and a year of Jubilee... but we can press into Christ to guide is in wisdom for how we can order our days onto Him. Today we learn more about the 7 celebrations the LORD commanded Israel to maintain. And just as we've seen in each section of Leviticus, these feasts point to Jesus. The first 4 have been fulfilled in Christ already, and the final 3 give us much to hope for! But there's this command to rest that we moms need to figure out! That's why we always end in prayer!!Today's Reading: Leviticus 20-23Scripture Read or Referenced:Leviticus 22:32Leviticus 231 Corinthians 15:20Read more about the feasts here: https://www.gotquestions.org/Jewish-festivals.htmlFind out more about Entrusted with a Child's Heart here: www.entrustedministries.com/studiesCommentaries Referenced: Moody Commentary, MacArthur Commentary
We are so grateful for the consistency of God's Word! We are free from the Old Testament ceremonial laws, but the moral laws given in the Old Testament remain for our blessing. There are so many great principles to teach our kids from these chapters: be honest, be generous, be pure, welcome others... this episode is for mom's ears only, but the truth of it will bless you as you parent! If you'd like to learn more about communicating God's Word in a winsome way, listen to the latest episode of AGAIN here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-again-podcast-on-biblical-motherhood/id1700555502Today's Reading: Leviticus 17-19Scripture Referenced: Various sections of Leviticus 17-19Acts 15:26-29Hebrews 10:26-29Find out more about Entrusted with a Child's Heart here: www.entrustedministries.com/studiesCommentaries Referenced: Moody Commentary, MacArthur Commentary
Even in the Old Testament, the Lord graciously provided a way for the people's sin to be atoned for. On one day of the year, the High Priest was allowed to enter the Holy of Holies. But he was required to go each year to sacrifice for the people. The blood of Jesus Christ is not the same! By it, Jesus paid the penalty for our sin once and for all! Nothing should make us rejoice more! May it transform the way we love and lead our families!Today's Reading: Leviticus 14-16Scripture Read:Leviticus 16:7-10Hebrews 9:1-7, 11-15a, 24-28Find out more about Entrusted with a Child's Heart here: www.entrustedministries.com/studiesCommentaries Referenced: Moody Commentary, MacArthur Commentary
Because God's Word is a progressive revelation, we can use the New Testament to reveal more of God's plan. Leviticus and the priests that are consecrated are but a shadow of the perfect High Priest who came and is now seated at the right hand of God, interceding for us. We can be grateful for all He has purchased by His blood, a once and for all sacrifice for those who believe!Today's Scripture: Leviticus 9-13Verses Read or Referenced: Leviticus 9:1-7, 22-24Leviticus 10:1-3, 8-11Leviticus 11:13-19, 44Leviticus 12:6-8Hebrews 7:18-19, 22-25 through 8:2, 5-6
A lot of rules... or a proven path to restore us to God's Presence? As we continue to walk through the book of Leviticus and learn about the 5 types of sacrifices, we can be thankful Jesus's sacrifice was once and for all. Believers are now restored to God and have the hope of eternity, but it is only by the grace of God and nothing we have done. Christian parents can use the pattern of repentance that God sets forth in Scripture to train their children in repentance. In this lesson, you'll learn about an incredibly practical illustration called "The Full Circle". The book of Leviticus might not seem to have a lot to do with motherhood on the surface, but we think there are powerful connections to be made. The people of Israel have sinned against the LORD. What will God do? Will He abandon His promises to the Patriarchs? You already know the answer--He won't. He was faithful to His Word then, and He is faithful to His Word today. And, just as the Israelites have a choice to walk in obedience to a God that longs to dwell with them, we have the opportunity to draw near to the God of all grace. What sets Christians apart from other people? There are many qualities that do, but in this passage, Moses claims that God's presence with His people is what sets them apart from every other nation on earth. We agree! After God provides the guidance of the 10 Commandments, He gives additional rules for helping the Israelites prosper as a society. They are to be set apart from the other societies around them. Though there are many laws we are no longer required to follow, if we look to the heart of the wisdom in God's laws, it can guide us for today. When you think of the Exodus, do you ever think of God proudly saying, "Remember when I did that?" The Exodus is mentioned ALL OVER THE BIBLE! It is a monumental example of God's power to save and it points us to the redemptive work Jesus did on the cross. As you listen to how God guided, protected, and rescued the Israelites, remember that whatever you are battling in your family, the LORD fights for you. Lay down your burden as you pray to be surrendered to His good plans for you and your kids. Did you see our free printable resources for this Bible plan? I know I've had to talk fast recently to get everything in, but I slow down just a little bit as we prepare to leave Egypt with the Israelites. It's a solemn exit and full of grieving for all who did not heed the word of the LORD. God gives specific instructions for honoring the Passover, but there are certainly things left unsaid.
