Sharing Your Story

Life happens EVERYDAY. There is no way to avoid the bad. More than that, there is no reason to allow it to force us to miss the good. The story we are writing has value regardless of wherever we are in our journey. The lessons, the wins, the ups and the downs-they all serve us. But-what if we could help or save someone along the way by showing them, we are still here! It's time for us to share our story. Let's get healed and grow together.
As I considered the thought of keeping the podcast...I wondered, should I keep the title of the podcast as The HeartHeaded Way...well-yeah! The name still applies. LOL I dig into the reason for the name in a way I hadn't considered before. I'm still giving language to things I'm trying to understand...and I'm doing it The HeartHeaded Way...whew-jump into this with me.
Happy February! Happy Black History Month! Happy Recalibration Month. For the month of February-I wanna get my body back to the black. January we hit the ground running, and now we need to pause and restore. Our tanks are running on empty! All the rhythms...all the hustle and bustle-let's just chill and enjoy a few small pleasures that bring us joy. I have my list of small pleasures ready to go: Perfume...skin care products...a good book and quiet time. Don't sleep on the "small".
Shout out to all of us carrying struggles that we don't share. Shout out to all of us dealing with loss. Shout out to all of us who are experiencing change and it's ALOT. Today is not about advice, or fixes-just truth.
Hey girl...heeyyyy! Listen- we need to give language to our experiences so we can build our path to navigating it and supporting each other. Let's talk about five professional realities we experience and reframe with THE TRUTH. 1. THE DOUBLE BIND 2. THE COMPETENCE TAX 3. PAY, PROMOTION, AND MOVINGG GOALPOSTS 4. OFFICE HOUSEWORK AND EMOTIONAL LABOR 5. ISOLATION AND REPRESENTATION FATIGUE Listen, girl-I SEE YOU!!!!
You are who God called you to be even when you are not WHERE you want to be. Keep doing the thing!
Lissseeennn! We are keeping it short and sweet this week. We are one week into the new year and I know I said "we got next"..but while we are becoming, are we overlooking all the beauty and the blessings right in front of us? This week let's pause and notice all the things!
What changes are you making this year. This year is about moving the needle forward according to God's plan, not my own. We...got...next!
A year ago, I had back surgery...three weeks after that I had another back surgery. This has been a year of rebuilding De. It has been hard and "this" hard rendered me vulnerable. I thought I had it all figured out. It turns out-I didn't. LOL My focus is new, and so are my plans. Instead of focusing on the results, I will be focused on the process...on the seeds I've been given. I will leave the rest up to HIM.
Lisseeeeennnn, this metabolism of mine has come to a SCREECHING halt! There is nothing like a good ol' fitness challenge with my partner in crime to get me back on track with wellbeing focus. #fitness #wellbeing #productivity #healthy #journey #planner #healthiswealth
Listen! Life has been LIFING! Dealing with chronic pain forces you to sit down and REFOCUS. And the revelation during that time was-I've been living on a lie. (insert gasp here). Check out the latest with where De has been during her break!

In celebration of Women's History Month, I had to pause and celebrate mom, Selestria Watson. I have gotten a chance to experience the black boy joy in the form of her son, Jordin. Jordin's spirit automatically changes the dynamic in a room. It's no surprise that Selestria and her village have poured love on top of love into Jordin.

De sits down in a quick catch up session with her cousin and model, Charmaine Cook Johnson. Charmaine's brand message is about being covered, yet still rocking a look with the fire like only she can. Having met Charmaine in recent years, this conversation is just another attempt at getting to know her better. She is an awesome part of my the village.
De sits down with previous guest Francheska Renee to revisit her considerations of suicide and this time she brings on therapist, Charmaine Beasley to help navigate this space. What an amazing eye-opener to identifying signs and help for tough spaces.
