Description

"The Style Adjacent" with Randi Rivera is a podcast rooted in this influencer's deep-seeded ardor for all things style; combine her love of fashion, music, art and culture, add education and experience in various creative industries, parlay that into a podcast, and you have The Style Adjacent.

There is a mantra here at TSA; "style supersedes fashion and trend, full stop."

Style is everlasting. It is a way of life, a mindset, an overall attitude. It is your introduction to the world without uttering a single word. The podcast is built on this concept, and it serves as a platform to introduce and celebrate this alignment by talking to designers, artists, musicians and the like, discovering each one's individual style journey.

Tuck in to a new episode every Thursday, when Randi will sit down for genuine, authentic conversation with some of Southern California's most fascinating, creative, and iconic individuals, to learn about their style journey through their craft. Episodes also explore trends and movements within creative genres like fashion, music, art, interiors, food & fare, as well as culture and community.

Because when it comes to style...everything is adjacent.

Part of the pleasure of living in the City of Angels is the wide assortment of restaurants, popups and food trucks at one’s disposal, with the lion’s share offering a global assortment of fare, and truly the best of the best when it comes to quality, taste and price. But in this economy, its getting harder and harder to find places that offer that trifecta, especially with a plethora of eateries closing, due to the incredible expense to operate, as well as decreased numbers due to inflation, rising costs, and locally, threats of ICE.But locals are thanking the universe that all of these factors have not impacted the highly touted, local neighborhood favorite Amiga Amore, owned by husband and wife duo, Danielle Duran Zecca, a 1st generation Chicana chef and Alessandro Zecca, a native of Verona, Italy who brings his passion for the restaurant industry and food in general. The two, having met working together in New York, have a lengthy and rich history of experience they bring to the restaurant. Amiga Amore, a beautiful and delicious example of "Mexitalian" fusion, is known for blending Italian and Mexican flavors in creative dishes like its signature elote agnolotti, a street corn-filled pasta. The duo have created a comfy cozy, setting for locals and garnered accolades acclaim from major publications and local food aficionados.I first met Danielle when she appeared as a cherished panel guest at the quarterly female founders night, where powerful, charismatic hard working, bad ass ladies come to speak to an audience of fellow bad ass ladies looking for inspiration to live their dream, whether it’s was a new business, pursuing the career goal they've had since they were 5, or how to level up in their existing business. Danielle offered an amuse bouche of encouragement with a helping of humor, and a soupçon of tough love, to make sure every woman in the room felt prepared in their journey. The epitome of multi-hyphenate, musician, screenwriter, composer, producer, and author David K. Israel has had incredible success from the get-go. When he was still attending high school, he studied with Pat Martino, a visionary in the world of jazz, and co-wrote an album with him before he turned 20. After college, he was employed by the estate of fellow multi-hyphenate, composer, conductor and pianist Leonard Bernstein, where he worked to edit and publish classic works of Bernstein’s like West Side Story. From there, he went on to write and compose original musical pieces for theater and dance but pivoted to address his love of the written word, and in 2005, published Behind Everyman, his first book to garner commercial success. This led to additional writing projects with major publications, and success in both music and publishing realms.Tragedy has a way of transforming, and the Pacific Palisades/Altadena fires in 2025 permanently changed David; losing everything in these tragic fires gave him new perspectives, as well as new attention from the essay he wrote for The Wall Street Journal detailing the devastation in multiple realms and eventual rebirth he experienced because of the blaze. But while the year began with incredible sorrow, 2025 also brought success in multiple areas of his work, both music and literature; his jazz-inspired release, No Cosmic Dice provides a glimpse into David’s adoration of the genre and his highly anticipated novel, The Lost Mozart, will be in stores in August of this year. You can find out more about David K. Aly Rose's passion for the beauty industry was formed in her early years; just like many of us, the makeup of her family matriarchs was fodder for play; the difference with Aly was that by 7 years old, she had already mastered full beat makeup. She honed her skills, perfecting makeup looks for friends and family for events like dances, weddings and the like. She created a career path for her that led to becoming certified in theatrical makeup at Orange Coast College, and at the ripe old age of 16, she began a management career in beauty. Aly juggled her passion for beauty with higher education, studying Film, TV, and Public Relations at one of the most recognized universities, University of Southern California. During this time, she managed the Urban Decay counter, served as a lead makeup artist, and assisted with glamorous red carpet events. After earning her BA from USC, she was recruited by Victoria's Secret Beauty, where I had the pleasure of meeting and working with her, as she successfully managed a team of beauty specialists. Running into each other at a USC football tailgate and hearing about her plans of starting her own makeup artistry company was exciting and empowering; she truly was and is built for the beauty industry.Aly has continued to empower women worldwide through her artistry. Along the way, she has conquered a battle with cancer, embarked on the journey of motherhood with two spirited boys, and embraced every day to the fullest. She is an inspiration, a mentor, and the future of makeup artistry. You can find out more about Aly Rose Beauty through her socials and website:@alyrosebeautyteamwww.alyrosebeauty.comThank you for listening and remember, when it comes to style, it's ALL adjacent.Love, RandiCo-Host/Co-Creative Producer/Technician-Frank RiveraAudio Editing-Jason SteeleIntro/Outro Music-Derrick "Lord Monsta" Neal
In this episode, Randi talks to Battle and Randall of Blaec Elite DJs; but these two gentlemen are not just DJs. They are entrepreneurs who have built several businesses of their own, in addition to being mentors and developers for businesses around the world. They are insightful; operating on faith, trust and intention, with a healthy dose of radical kindness and positivity, they possess the desire to educate and leave everyone they connect with in a better space than before they met them. En route to Benny Boy Brewing one day in June 2025, Frankie mentioned that there was a new DJ duo spinning that night, promising Classic R & B, Hip Hop, afro beats and more. We were ready for the vibes; but the vibes we arrived to? Immaculate. These guys brought style to the process; cozy stage, black leather couch, gnarled wood coffee table housing not only turntables and DJ equipment, but candles, incense, distinct spiritual sculptures. Essentially, a temple or shrine, if you will, to the music, the practice, the culture…and we were there for it.You can find out more about Blaec Elite DJs through their socials and email:@blaecelitedjsblaecelitedjs@gmail.comThank you for listening and remember, when it comes to style, it's ALL adjacent.Love, Randi Co-Host/Co-Creative Producer/Technician-Frank RiveraAudio Editing-Jason SteeleIntro/Outro Music-Derrick "Lord Monsta" Neal
In this episode, Randi talks to Cori and Lindsay-partners in love, life and entrepreneurship, merging their collective backgrounds, education and passion for the cocktail culture into a women-owned cooperative, aptly named JAI, aka Just Add Ice Cocktails. Cori and Lindsay lean into the belief that business is built on community; working with local establishments, sourcing locally based ingredients and embracing the communities that adore their products as well as respect JAIs values and mission. Specializing in delicious, cold-pressed juice-based cocktails, made with the highest quality ingredients, Cori and Lindsay are creating a buzz in the alcohol industry, growing organically in the Los Angeles region, but with their eyes set on global domination, one sip at a time. In this episode, Randi talks to the incredibly talented and undeniably delightful Lori Lamont. Lori exudes warmth and love not only through her persona, but also her gorgeous paintings. A self-taught artist, working out of her beautiful studio in Long Beach, California, and working exclusively in watercolor, Lori creates breathtaking pieces that don’t portray the usual fodder depicted in the medium.Lori doesn’t do traditionalist. She does big, bold, beautiful paintings that are a juxtaposition; through them she feeds us a meal of hearty, satisfying images of gorgeously meticulous flora & fauna, then satiates our need for a “sweet treat” by throwing in modern pop culture, fashion and big business references, creating a delicious dichotomy for our eyes and our minds. Her work is available at www.lorilamont.com and on Instagram at @lorilamont1Thank you for listening and remember, when it comes to style....it's ALL adjacent.Love, RandiCo-Host/Co-Creative Producer/Technician-Frank RiveraAudio Editing-Jason SteeleIntro/Outro Music-Derrick "Lord Monsta" Neal
In this episode, Randi talks to one of the most unique, talented and artistic "renaissance" men that she's had the pleasure of knowing-producer, curator, artist and archivist Johnny Young, also known by his moniker, Black Museumist. Randi, Frank and Johnny talk all things art, music and fashion, and Johnny waxes poetic regarding his experiences taking non-traditional paths to success in these fields. We also express our thoughts on the beauty of an analog lifestyle and relevance of physical media, and Johnny explains how he maneuvers through all of his projects in his ever changing life. You can find some of his work on his new website, www.museumist.art, as well as his Instagram, @blackmuseumist.Thank you for listening and remember, when it comes to style....it's ALL adjacent.Love, RandiCo-Host/Co-Creative Producer/Technician-Frank RiveraAudio Editing-Jason SteeleIntro/Outro Music-Derrick "Lord Monsta" Neal
