People arrive late for many different reasons.In this episode, I share a small cultural difference I noticed after living abroad.==Instagram & Note(Blog)==https://www.instagram.com/outsidejapclass/https://note.com/taitaijapclass==How to use the scripts=1.You can listen first and guess the meaning without the script.2.You can read the script while listening.3.You can also practise reading out loud with the audio.However there is no right or wrong way.You can also simply enjoy the content and listen to the podcast for fun.Just relax and enjoy the podcast==Japanese and English scripts==どうして時間に遅れるんだろう？Why do people arrive late?今日は、時間の感覚の違いについて少し話したいと思います。Today I’d like to talk a little about differences in how people think about time.もちろん、全員を一つにまとめて言うことはできません。Of course, we cannot say everyone is the same.日本人でも、会社や学校に遅れてくる人はいます。Even in Japan, some people arrive late to work or school.いつも時間を守る人でも、5分くらい遅れることはあります。Even people who are usually punctual can be five minutes late sometimes.でも、シンガポールの人たちと比べると、日本人は時間に少し厳しい気がします。But compared with people in Singapore, I feel Japanese people are a little stricter about time.例えば、午後1時に集まる約束をします。For example, imagine we plan to meet at 1 pm.シンガポールでは、1時ぴったりに全員が集まることはあまりありません。In Singapore, people do not always gather exactly at one.だいたい1時15分とか、1時30分くらいになります。Often it becomes 1:15 or even 1:30.理由を聞くと、いろいろあります。When I hear the reasons, there are many.「バスが来ませんでした」とか、“The bus didn’t come,”「道が混んでいました」とか、“The traffic was heavy,”そういう理由をよく聞きます。I hear these reasons quite often.でも、私はときどき思います。But sometimes I think about this.日本人は、こういうことを先に考えます。Japanese people often think about these things beforehand.バスが来ないかもしれません。Maybe the bus will not come.道が混むかもしれません。Maybe the road will be busy.だから、少し早く家を出ます。So we leave home a little earlier.もし1時に集合なら、If the meeting time is one,12時45分くらいに着くように出ると思います。we might leave home to arrive around 12:45.だから、15分くらい遅れても大丈夫です。So even if something happens, we still have time.早く着いたら、少し暇かもしれません。If we arrive early, we may feel a little bored.でも、日本人はこう思うことが多いです。But many Japanese people think like this.暇でもいいです。It’s okay to be a little bored.でも、友達を待たせるのはあまりよくないと思います。But making a friend wait is not so nice.もちろん、どちらが正しいとか、悪いとか、そういう話ではありません。Of course, I’m not saying one way is right or wrong.ただ、考え方の違いだと思います。I think it is simply a difference in thinking.私はいつも、タブレットを持って出かけます。I always bring a tablet when I go out.友達を待っているときは、本を読みます。When I wait for friends, I read a book.だから、待っていてもあまり暇ではありません。So waiting is not really boring for me.私はあまり怒りません。I don’t get angry.ただ、実はこう思うことがあります。But sometimes I have a small thought.もしかすると、多くの人はMaybe many peopleバスがちょうどいい時間に来て、expect the bus to arrive at the perfect time,道も混んでいなくて、and the road not to be busy,ちょうど集合時間に着くように家を出ているのかな、と思います。and they leave home hoping to arrive exactly on time.だから、毎回少し遅れるのかな、と思うこともあります。So maybe that is why people arrive a little late each time.ま、仕方ないですね。Well, I guess it can’t be helped.こういう時間の感覚の違いも、海外生活の面白いところだと思います。Differences in time sense like this are also an interesting part of living abroad.

Department stores in Singapore stay open until around 10 p.m. That might sound normal to you, but for Japanese people, it’s actually quite surprising.==Instagram & Note(Blog)==https://www.instagram.com/outsidejapclass/https://note.com/taitaijapclass==How to use the scripts=1.You can listen first and guess the meaning without the script.2.You can read the script while listening.3.You can also practise reading out loud with the audio.However there is no right or wrong way.You can also simply enjoy the content and listen to the podcast for fun.Just relax and enjoy the podcast==Japanese and English scripts==シンガポールのデパートは、どうしてこんなに遅くまで開いているんでしょう？Why do department stores in Singapore stay open so late?今日は、シンガポールのデパートの話をしたいと思います。Today I’d like to talk about department stores in Singapore.シンガポールでは、In Singapore, 夜遅くまで開いている店が多いです。many shops stay open late at night.だいたい夜9時半や10時くらいまで開いています。Many of them stay open until around 9:30 or 10.私は最初それを見て、少し驚きました。When I first saw this, I was a little surprised.日本ではデパートはもう少し早く閉まります。In Japan, department stores close earlier.例えば、大丸やパルコ、阪急などです。For example, places like Daimaru, Parco, or Hankyu.多くの場合、夜8時くらいに閉まります。Most of them close around eight in the evening.だから、シンガポールに来たとき、So when I came to Singapore,「夜遅くまでやっているなあ」と感じました。I felt, “Wow, shops stay open quite late here.”夜でも店が開いているので、人もたくさん外にいます。Because the shops are open at night, many people are outside.平日でも人が多いです。Even on weekdays there are many people.休日ももちろん人がいます。Of course, there are also many people on weekends.夜遅くまで、みんな元気に外を歩いています。People are walking outside energetically even late at night.それを見ると、「みんな、明日の仕事は大丈夫かな」と思います。When I see that, I sometimes wonder if everyone will be okay for work tomorrow.でも、よく考えると、But when I think about it, 日本でも夜遅くまで人が外にいます。people in Japan are also outside late at night.東京や大阪でも、夜に人が歩いています。In Tokyo or Osaka, people are also walking around at night.でも、日本人が夜遅くに外にいる理由は、But when Japanese people are out late at night, カラオケや居酒屋に行っているからです。it is often because they go to karaoke or izakaya.デパートへ行っているからではありません。It is usually not because they go to department stores.シンガポールでも、居酒屋は夜遅くまで開いています。In Singapore, izakaya are also open late.でも、デパートが夜遅くまで開いているのは、日本と少し違うところだと思います。But department stores staying open late feels a little different from Japan.なぜみんな、夜遅くまでデパートにいるのでしょうか。Why are people still at department stores so late at night?こういう小さな違いも、海外生活の面白いところだと思います。I think small differences like this are one of the interesting parts of living abroad.

Today I talk about my favourite kind of ramen — and how you can even eat it in Singapore.==Instagram & Note(Blog)==https://www.instagram.com/outsidejapclass/https://note.com/taitaijapclass==How to use the scripts=1.You can listen first and guess the meaning without the script.2.You can read the script while listening.3.You can also practise reading out loud with the audio.However there is no right or wrong way.You can also simply enjoy the content and listen to the podcast for fun.Just relax and enjoy the podcast==Japanese and English scripts==どんなラーメンが好きですか？What Kind of Ramen Do You Like?皆さんは、ラーメンを食べますか。Do you eat ramen?ラーメンは、日本の有名な料理の一つですよね。Ramen is one of the famous foods in Japan.味噌ラーメンや、塩ラーメンや、醤油ラーメンがあります。There are miso, salt, and soy sauce ramen.豚骨ラーメンも人気があります。Tonkotsu ramen is also very popular.皆さんは、どの味が好きですか。Which flavour do you like?私は、少し特別なラーメンが好きです。I like a slightly special kind of ramen.いわゆる、二郎系ラーメンです。It is what people call Jiro-style ramen.東京のお店から始まったスタイルです。This style started from a shop in Tokyo.そして、今はまねをしたお店もたくさんあります。Now, many shops copy this style.実は、シンガポールでも食べることができます。Actually, you can eat it in Singapore too.シンガポールにもあるんだと思って、見つけた時は嬉しかったです。When I found it, I felt happy and thought, “Oh, it’s here too.”とても大きいです。It is very big.器も大きいです。The bowl is big too.上には、たくさんのもやしがあります。There are lots of bean sprouts on top.山のようにのっています。They are piled up like a mountain.チャーシューも、大きいです。The pork slices are big as well.麺は太いです。The noodles are thick.かたい感じがあります。They feel firm and chewy.スープの味は濃くて美味しいです。The soup is strong in flavour and very tasty.にんにくも入れます。You can add garlic.油も多いです。There is a lot of oil too.正直に言うと、To be honest, 体にはあまり良くない気がします。it doesn’t feel very healthy.でも、とてもおいしいです。But it is very delicious.野菜を食べている気持ちにもなります。You also feel like you are eating vegetables.でも、ほとんどがもやしです。But most of it is just bean sprouts.それでも、少しだけ、罪悪感がやわらぐ気がします。Even so, it feels like the guilt becomes a little softer.お腹がとても空いているときに、食べたくなります。When I am very hungry, I want to eat it.お店に行くと、男性が多いです。When I go to the shop, there are many men.たくさん食べたい人に人気があります。It is popular with people who want to eat a lot.私も、ときどき行きます。I go sometimes too.毎日は食べられません。I cannot eat it every day.でも、しばらく食べないと、少し恋しくなります。But if I don’t eat it for a while, I start to miss it.お腹がすいている夜に、思い出します。On a hungry night, I remember it.そして、また食べに行ってしまいます。And then I end up going to eat it again.やめられないなと思います。I sometimes think I can’t stop.

Do you enjoy watching sports? Not many people in Singapore seem to, and honestly, neither do I. In this episode, I talk about a sports event I watched that even someone like me found surprisingly enjoyable.==Instagram & Note(Blog)==https://www.instagram.com/outsidejapclass/https://note.com/taitaijapclass==How to use the scripts=1.You can listen first and guess the meaning without the script.2.You can read the script while listening.3.You can also practise reading out loud with the audio.However there is no right or wrong way.You can also simply enjoy the content and listen to the podcast for fun.Just relax and enjoy the podcast==Japanese and English scripts==スポーツ観戦、しますか？Do you watch sports?皆さんは、スポーツ観戦をしますか。Do you watch sports games?私は、あまりスポーツ観戦をしません。I don’t usually watch sports.でも、一度だけ、But once, 7人制ラグビーの試合を見に行ったことがあります。I went to watch a Rugby Sevens match.シンガポールで毎年行われている大会です。It is held every year in Singapore.普通のラグビーは、15人でやります。Regular rugby is played with 15 players.前半40分、後半40分です。It is 40 minutes for each half.全部で80分です。So it lasts 80 minutes in total.でも、7人制ラグビーはちがいます。But Rugby Sevens is different.7分ハーフです。Each half is 7 minutes.全部で14分です。The whole match is only 14 minutes.フィールドの大きさは同じです。The field size is the same.でも、人数は半分以下です。But the number of players is less than half.ずっと走ります。They keep running.タックルもします。They tackle each other too.だから、時間が短いんですね。That’s why the game is short.トイレに行ったら、半分終わっているかもしれません。If you go to the toilet, half the match might already be over.でも、だからこそ、テンポがいいです。But because of that, the tempo feels good.初めて見る人でも、楽しめる気がします。Even people watching for the first time might enjoy it.人数が少ないです。There are fewer players.だから、スペースが広く感じます。So the space feels wider.点も入りやすいです。It is easier to score.それも面白いポイントだと思います。I think that is another fun point.シンガポールの学生と話していると、When I talk with students in Singapore,スポーツに強い興味がある人は、あまり多くない気がします。I feel there are not so many people strongly interested in sports.日本では、大学や社会人でもスポーツを続ける人がいます。In Japan, some people continue sports at university or even after they start working.国際大会もよくニュースになります。International competitions are often on the news.だから、日本ではスポーツ観戦が少し身近な気がします。So in Japan, watching sports feels a bit more common.もちろん、全員ではありません。Of course, not everyone.私も、どちらかというと観ないタイプです。I am also not really the watching type.それでも、7人制ラグビーは楽しめました。Even so, I enjoyed Rugby Sevens.テンポが速いです。The tempo is fast.集中して見てしまいました。I found myself watching very closely.小学生から高校生まで、私はスポーツをしていました。From primary school to high school, I played sports.12年間、続けました。I continued for 12 years.その中で、熱狂や感動を何度も感じました。During that time, I experienced excitement and strong emotions many times.ラグビーの試合を見たとき、その気持ちを思い出しました。When I watched the Rugby Sevens match, I remembered those feelings.少しドキドキしました。My heart started to beat faster.ドラマやアニメの感動シーンを見るときと、少し似ています。It feels a bit like watching an emotional scene in a drama or anime.スポーツをあまり見ない人にとって、For people who don’t usually watch sports,ラグビーセブンスは、スポーツ観戦の楽しさに気づくきっかけになるかもしれません。Rugby Sevens might be a chance to discover how fun watching sports can be.皆さんも、もし機会があれば、If you ever have the chance,一度、見てみてください。Please try watching it once.新しい楽しみが見つかるかもしれません。You might discover a new kind of enjoyment.

Valentine’s Day — a romantic day, full of nervous moments.Having experienced it in both Singapore and Japan, I’ll share how it feels from both sides.==Instagram & Note(Blog)==https://www.instagram.com/outsidejapclass/https://note.com/taitaijapclass==How to use the scripts=1.You can listen first and guess the meaning without the script.2.You can read the script while listening.3.You can also practise reading out loud with the audio.However there is no right or wrong way.You can also simply enjoy the content and listen to the podcast for fun.Just relax and enjoy the podcast==Japanese and English scripts==バレンタインデーについてAbout Valentine’s Day.今日はバレンタインデーについて話したいと思います。Today, I would like to talk about Valentine’s Day.シンガポールでは、In Singapore,男性から女性にプレゼントを渡すことが多いそうです。I hear that men often give presents to women.花を持っている人を電車の中で見たことがあります。I have seen people holding flowers on the train.きれいな花束でした。They were beautiful bouquets.なんだか少しロマンティックな気持ちになります。It makes the day feel a bit romantic.では、日本はどうでしょうか。So, what about Japan?日本では、立場が反対です。In Japan, it is the opposite.女性から男性にチョコレートを渡します。Women give chocolate to men.花ではありません。Not flowers.チョコレートです。Chocolate.学生のころ、私はその日が少し楽しみでした。When I was a student, I looked forward to that day.もしかしたら、もらえるかもしれないと思いました。I thought maybe I might receive some.学校で、ロッカーの中をそっと見ました。At school, I quietly checked my locker.机の引き出しも見ました。I also looked inside my desk drawer.でも、だいたい人気のある男の子がたくさんもらいます。Usually, the popular boys receive many chocolates.ほかの男の子は、あまりもらえません。The other boys do not receive many.それも、よくある話だと思います。I think that is quite common.実は、日本でバレンタインデーが広がったのは、In fact, Valentine’s Day became popular in Japanチョコレート会社の宣伝がきっかけだったそうです。because of chocolate company promotions.今から60年ぐらい前のことです。It was about sixty years ago.新聞に広告を出したり、They placed advertisements in newspapers,特別なチョコレートを売ったりしました。and sold special chocolates.だんだん多くの人がチョコレートを買うようになりました。Gradually, more people started buying chocolate.そして、今のような行事になったそうです。And it became the event we know today.だから、日本人の中には、So in Japan,バレンタインデーが本当は何の日か、よく知らない人もいます。some people do not really know what the original meaning of Valentine’s Day is.ただ、ロマンティックな日だと思っている人も多いです。Many simply think of it as a romantic day.シンガポールではどうですか。How is it in Singapore?学校や仕事が忙しくて、Some people may be busy with school or work,恋愛どころではない人もいるかもしれません。and may not have much time for romance.でも、バレンタインデーぐらいは、But at least on Valentine’s Day,少し楽しんでもいいのではないでしょうか。maybe it’s nice to enjoy the moment a little.チョコレートでも、花でも、Whether it is chocolate or flowers,気持ちを伝えるきっかけになるかもしれません。it might be a small chance to share your feelings.

==Instagram & Note(Blog)==https://www.instagram.com/outsidejapclass/https://note.com/taitaijapclass==How to use the scripts=1.You can listen first and guess the meaning without the script.2.You can read the script while listening.3.You can also practise reading out loud with the audio.However there is no right or wrong way.You can also simply enjoy the content and listen to the podcast for fun.Just relax and enjoy the podcast==Japanese and English scripts==海外で生活するということについてAbout Living Overseas海外で生活するということについて、今日は少し話したいと思います。Today, I would like to talk a little about living overseas.外国に住んでいるだけで、Sometimes, just because I live in another country, 日本人の知人から「すごいですね」と言われることがあります。Japanese friends say, “That’s amazing.”「外国で生活するなんて、大変そうですね」と言われることもあります。They also say, “It sounds difficult to live abroad.”でも、実際の生活は、日本にいたころとあまり変わりません。But in reality, my daily life is not very different from when I was in Japan.朝起きて、仕事をして、ごはんを食べて、寝ます。I wake up, work, eat, and go to bed.その流れは、どこにいても同じです。That routine is the same wherever I live.違うのは、話されている言葉です。What is different is the language people speak.気候も違います。The weather is also different.食べ物も少し違います。The food is a little different too.景色も違います。The scenery is different.ルールや習慣も違います。Rules and customs are different as well.でも、それ以外はあまり変わりません。But apart from that, not much changes.私が急にすごくなったわけではありません。It’s not that I suddenly became special.ただ、日本とは違う場所に住んでいるだけです。I simply live in a different place.シンガポールでは、英語や中国語を話せる人が多いです。In Singapore, many people can speak English or Chinese.だから、ほかの国に行っても生活しやすいと思います。So I think it’s easier for them to live in other countries.海外の大学に行く人もいます。Some people go to university overseas.仕事でほかの国に住む人もいます。Some people live in another country for work.シンガポール人の方が、日本人ほど外国に住むハードルが高くないように見えます。It seems that for Singaporeans, living abroad is not as big a hurdle as it is for many Japanese people.これは日本人の感覚と違うところかもしれませんね。This might be something that feels different from the Japanese point of view.日本では、パスポートを持っている人があまり多くありません。In Japan, not so many people have a passport.持っている人は、だいたい17％ぐらいだそうです。I heard that only around 17% of people have one.外国と比べると、少ないほうだそうです。Compared with other countries, that number is quite low.だから、日本人にとって、外国に住んでいる人は少し珍しいのかもしれません。So for Japanese people, someone living abroad may feel a bit unusual.知らない世界に行く人を見ると、When they see someone going to an unknown place,「すごそう」と思ったり、they may think, “That sounds amazing,”「大変そう」と思ったりするのかもしれません。or “That must be hard.”でも、実際は毎日の生活のくり返しです。But in reality, it is just daily life repeated.日本の生活と何も大きく変わりません。It is not very different from life in Japan.もちろん、新しい場所では、新しい人間関係を作る必要があります。Of course, in a new place, you need to build new relationships.それは少し緊張するかもしれません。That can feel a little stressful.でも、新しい場所にも、やさしい人がいます。But in a new place, there are kind people too.親切にしてくれる人もたくさんいます。There are many people who are helpful.シンガポールにいるみなさんも、日本に住んでみたい気持ちがあれば、If you are in Singapore and feel like living in Japan one day,住んでみるのもいいんじゃないでしょうか。why not try living there?旅行ではわからない、日本のいいところや悪いところにも気づけるはずです。You will notice both the good and the not-so-good sides of Japan — things you cannot see on a short trip.

==Instagram & Note(Blog)==https://www.instagram.com/outsidejapclass/https://note.com/taitaijapclass==How to use the scripts=1.You can listen first and guess the meaning without the script.2.You can read the script while listening.3.You can also practise reading out loud with the audio.However there is no right or wrong way.You can also simply enjoy the content and listen to the podcast for fun.Just relax and enjoy the podcast==Japanese and English scripts==シンガポールのコンビニについてAbout Convenience Stores in Singapore今日はシンガポールのコンビニについて話したいと思います。Today, I’d like to talk about convenience stores in Singapore.私は、日本とシンガポールのコンビニをよく比べてしまいます。I often find myself comparing convenience stores in Japan and Singapore.まず、日本のコンビニを思い出します。First, I think about convenience stores in Japan.日本では、夜でも開いている店が多いですね。In Japan, many of them are open even at night.最近は、夜ずっと開いていない店も少し増えてきました。Recently, some are no longer open all night.それでも、夜に開いている店があると安心します。Still, it feels reassuring to have a shop open late at night.日本のコンビニには、本当にいろいろな物があります。Japanese convenience stores really have so many things.雑誌もあります。They even sell magazines.子どものころ、コンビニで立ちながら漫画を読んでいたことを思い出します。I remember standing in a convenience store and reading comics when I was a child.化粧品や歯ブラシもあります。They sell cosmetics and toothbrushes.下着まで売っている店もあります。Some even sell underwear.トイレがあるのも、うれしいポイントです。Having a toilet is also a nice point.急いでいる時、とても助かります。It really helps in an emergency.アイスやデザートも充実しています。Their ice cream and desserts are well stocked.あたたかいスナックもあります。They also have hot snacks.そして、郵便を送ることもできます。You can also send parcels there.ATMがあるので、お金を下ろすこともできます。They also have ATMs, so you can withdraw money.本当に、便利なお店だなと思います。I really feel they live up to the name “convenience store.”では、シンガポールのコンビニはどうでしょうか。So, what about convenience stores in Singapore?シンガポールにもセブンイレブンがあります。There are also 7-Eleven stores in Singapore.おにぎりもあります。They sell rice balls.ツナマヨやうなぎが入っています。There are ones with tuna mayo and eel inside.サンドイッチもあります。There are sandwiches too.カップラーメンや菓子パンもあります。You can buy cup noodles and sweet bread.コーヒーも買えます。You can get coffee as well.旅行者のために、充電器やモバイルバッテリーも売っています。They even sell chargers and mobile batteries for travellers.とても便利です。It is convenient.でも、全体で比べると、But overall,私は、やはり日本のコンビニの方が少し便利かなと思います。I still feel that Japanese convenience stores are a little more convenient.もちろん、これは私の個人的な感想です。Of course, this is just my personal opinion.シンガポールのコンビニも、とても役に立っています。Convenience stores in Singapore are also very helpful.ただ、コンビニに関しては、日本の方がいいですね。But when it comes to convenience stores, I think Japan might be better.すみません。Sorry.

==Instagram & Note(Blog)==https://www.instagram.com/outsidejapclass/https://note.com/taitaijapclass==How to use the scripts=1.You can listen first and guess the meaning without the script.2.You can read the script while listening.3.You can also practise reading out loud with the audio.However there is no right or wrong way.You can also simply enjoy the content and listen to the podcast for fun.Just relax and enjoy the podcast==Japanese and English scripts==去年のクリスマスに、クリスマスのクラッカーを初めて使いました。Last Christmas, I used a Christmas cracker for the first time.みなさんは、使ったことがありますか。Have you ever used one?見たことはありますか。Have you ever seen one?パーティーのテーブルに、細長い紙のものが置いてありました。On the party table, there was a long, thin paper object.それがクラッカーでした。That was the cracker.あとで知ったのですが、クリスマスのクラッカーは、イギリスのクリスマスパーティーでよく使われるそうです。I learned later that Christmas crackers are often used at Christmas parties in the UK.アイルランドやカナダ、オーストラリア、ニュージーランドなどでも使われているそうです。They are also used in places like Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.だから、イギリス式の文化があるシンガポールでも、使われているんですね。So it makes sense that they are used in Singapore, which has British-style culture.でも、最初は使い方がまったく分かりませんでした。But at first, I had no idea how to use it.そもそも、クラッカーだと思いませんでした。I didn’t even think it was a cracker.どうやって使うものか, 見当もつきませんでした。I couldn’t imagine how to use it at all.二人で向かい合って、両端を持ちます。Two people face each other and hold each end.そして、同時に引きます。Then, they pull at the same time.その形を見たのは初めてでした。It was my first time seeing that kind of shape.分からなくても、しかたがない気がします。I feel like it’s normal not to understand it.中には、小さなものが入っていました。Inside, there were some small items.クイズやトリビアが書いてあるものもあるそうです。Some crackers have quizzes or trivia written on paper.でも、私が参加したパーティでは、ジョークが書いてあるカードと知恵の輪だけでした。But at the party I joined, there were only joke cards and a puzzle ring.周りの人は、その知恵の輪をなかなか解けませんでした。People around me couldn’t solve the puzzle ring easily.でも、私はすぐに解けました。But I solved it quickly.子どもの頃、ダイソーで知恵の輪をいくつか買ってもらっていました。When I was a child, my family bought me several puzzle rings at Daiso.家でよく遊んでいた記憶があります。I remember playing with them a lot at home.その経験が、思わぬところで役に立った気がしました。That experience helped me in an unexpected way.最初は、小さな紙について何も聞いていませんでした。At first, no one explained what the small paper was.だから、日本のおみくじのようなものかなと思いました。So I thought it might be like a Japanese fortune slip.でも、書いてあるのはジョークばかりでした。But it was full of jokes.それが少し意外で、でもおもしろかったです。That surprised me a little, but it was fun.

==Instagram & Note(Blog)==https://www.instagram.com/outsidejapclass/https://note.com/taitaijapclass==How to use the scripts=1.You can listen first and guess the meaning without the script.2.You can read the script while listening.3.You can also practise reading out loud with the audio.However there is no right or wrong way.You can also simply enjoy the content and listen to the podcast for fun.Just relax and enjoy the podcast==Japanese and English scripts==シンガポールの暑さについてAbout the Heat in Singaporeシンガポールの暑さについて話したいと思います。Today, I’d like to talk about the heat in Singapore.シンガポールは、暑い国です。Singapore is a hot country.私はシンガポールに住んで、4年ぐらいになります。I have been living in Singapore for about four years.それでも、今でも外に出ると、「暑いな」と思うことがよくあります。Even now, when I go outside, I often think, “It’s hot.”シンガポールでは、朝から暑いです。In Singapore, it is hot from the morning.ただ、朝の早い時間は、少し涼しいですよね。However, early in the morning, it feels a little cooler.涼しいといっても、だいたい7時前ぐらいまでですが。But only until around before seven o’clock.その時間に外に出ると、運動している人を見ることができます。If you go outside at that time, you can see people exercising.でも、8時や9時になると、家の外に出た瞬間に、「あ、暑い」と思います。But around eight or nine o’clock,the moment I go outside, I think, “Oh, it’s hot.”夜になると、少し変わります。At night, things change a little.夜は、風があって、外を歩くと、とても気持ちがいいです。At night, there is a breeze, and it feels very nice to walk outside.私は、夜に歩きながら、涼しい風を浴びるのが、わりと好きです。I quite like walking at night and feeling the cool breeze.昼と夜で、こんなにちがうんだなと、最初は少しびっくりしました。At first, I was a little surprised that daytime and nighttime were so different.外を歩くと、すぐに汗をかきます。When I walk outside, I start sweating right away.本当に、すぐに汗が出ます。Really, the sweat comes out immediately.少し歩いただけでも、背中や顔がぬれてきます。Even after walking just a little, my back and face become wet.シンガポールに来たばかりの頃は、本当にたくさん汗をかきました。When I first came to Singapore, I sweated a lot.朝、外に出るだけで、もうダラダラ汗をかいていました。Just going outside in the morning, I was already sweating a lot.そのときは、「どうして、こんなに暑いんだろう」と思っていました。At that time, I was thinking, “Why is it so hot?”でも今は、少し慣れてきました。But now, I’ve gotten used to it a little.同じ道を歩いても、前より、あまり汗をかかなくなった気がします。Even when I walk the same road,I feel like I don’t sweat as much as before.体がこの暑さに慣れてきたのかもしれません。Maybe my body has gotten used to this heat.では、日本と比べて、いつもシンガポールのほうが暑いかというと、そうではありません。So, is Singapore always hotter than Japan? Not really.夏の7月や8月ごろは、日本のほうが暑い日もあります。In summer, around July or August, there are days when Japan is hotter.とても暑くて、ニュースで見ることもありますよね。It can be very hot, and we sometimes see it on the news.私は、寒いところが、あまり好きではありません。I don’t really like cold places.だから、夏が大好きです。That’s why I love summer.この暑さは、私にとって、とても住みやすいと感じます。For me, this heat feels very comfortable to live in.最初は大変だと思った暑さも、今では、「これがシンガポールだな」と思います。At first, I thought the heat was tough, but now I think, “This is Singapore.”この暑さが、東南アジア、そしてシンガポールらしいなと、感じています。This heat feels very Southeast Asian, and very Singaporean to me.
