Description
If there is one thing I've developed as a burlesque performer, it's an opinion (that and audacity). So what better way to share my thoughts than with a podcast?
Slow Burn is a podcast with the thoughts, musings, and tomfoolery from internationally award-winning showgirl and Playboy International Playmate Shimmy LaRoux!
I may use the art of the tease, but I won't make you wait!

Holy cow, 2023 was quite a year! Let's talk about the highs, lows, and what I'm looking forward to in 2024.
In this episode, we talk about consistent episodes, Keith Lee, the importance of crafting an experience, and why you shouldn't walk into a space like who did it and why....
Get ready to enjoy another slow burn!
Hey there, welcome to this episode of "Slow Burn"! I had the pleasure of recently performing at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas this weekend, and I'm ready to talk about it! I cover my act, the beauty of #teamchi, the newly crowned court, and the magic of the entire weekend.
It was really great to see the levels of inclusivity and togetherness during the weekend and to see so many styles and types of performers grace the stage. Unfortunately, there there's always someone who wants to add poop to the punchbowl, so I touch on transphobic comments made less than 24 hours after the weekender. It was disappointing to hear, but it only reinforced the importance of standing up for what we believe in and supporting each other fully. I also talk about how I'm choosing to protest - with my dollars.
Overall, the Burlesque Hall of Fame weekend was an amazing experience, and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to perform again!
Good grief, I love a list. Here are three things I've learned as a performer.
EDITS: I forgot to include Gigi Holliday as a Burlesque historian and the space in Chicago is the 1901, not the 2901. Apologies, y'all.

Goals
My 3 part plan for setting goals
1. What have you done already? Did you hit your goals from last year? Why/Why not? Also, take some time to celebrate your wins and try not to be so hard on yourself for goals you didn't hit.
2. What do you want to do...and WHY? Why is it important to add this as a goal? What do you want to get out of it?
3. What are you going to DO to hit that go? Be as specific as possible
Lather. Rinse. Repeat!
Taking 10 days off from shows taught me a lot about the power of rest. I talk about rest as resistance and 7 types of rest.

Check out my 3 part series on TikTok where I let you know it's totally possible to travel as a performer without it breaking the bank. Today's podcast is a continuation of that conversation.

Hi! I talk about burlesque and burly-related things all the time, so why not put it all in one place? Welcome to the Slow Burn!
This episode is a bit different. I'm going to talk about 6 trendsI see for 2026, but I'll bounce back and forth between being a performer and corporate. I believe you can use these trends in both parts of your life. Let me know if it makes sense.
If your 2025 felt like a hot trash fire, this episode is your reset button.Shimmy LaRoux breaks down an end-of-year clean-out that goes way beyond your closet. Who are we kidding? This can also be a beginning of the year clean. We’re talking digital decluttering, ADHD-friendly cleaning, and emotional housekeeping—so you can stop dragging last year’s mess into your next chapter. You’ll get practical, low-drama ways to clean up your digital footprint (contacts, subscriptions, screenshots, emails), plus a simple approach to clearing your space when motivation is in the basement. Shimmy also shares how she uses the Pomodoro technique (yes, with a real physical timer) to make cleaning doable—especially with ADHD.Then we zoom out: how to “clean out your heart,” name what you survived, and set one bold goal for 2026—even if it feels delusional. Shimmy shares her own goal: more visibility, and what it looks like to practice being seen in real time.In this episode:Digital declutter steps that actually stickPomodoro cleaning for ADHD brainsHow to celebrate wins (even tiny ones)One big 2026 goal + 2–3 steps to moveBuilding a coaching circle (and being one)The intersection of burlesque confidence and corporate leadershipPerfect for performers, creatives, and “corporate baddies” who want a clean slate with receipts optional.
