January went quite well for me as far as getting back out consistently. It wasn’t perfect, but it was certainly a great start, and we’re moving into February with confidence. We’re slowly introducing speed workouts and increasing the long runs. I’m pumped to be working with Andrew and feeling good about where we are!Coach Andrew Miller is once again taking me under his wing as I prepare for my longest personal challenge to date, the Fat Dog 120. Andrew coaches for Team Run Run, and he and I will chat for a few minutes each month about what we’ve been working on and why we’re working on it. The idea is to give listeners an idea of what it’s like to work towards a goal with a coach. He will switch between giving advice specific to me and to the community, and give us an idea of why he is doing things. The opportunity to work with a coach and also learn about their process is one I’m excited to share.Last month on The Miller Minutes, Andrew and I chatted about starting at near zero, as I had an inactive fall, and we looked to build consistency in January:Listen where you listen:Apple PodcastsSpotifyWe’re on the journey to 2,000 subscribers. Andrew is being very deliberate with how we start, and the idea is to be in the best possible shape come race day. So right now, we are working on building a base through consistency. Last month on Community Trail Running, Andrew and I chatted abouta 100 mile race and coaching in general, as we set up the coming year:Listen where you listen:Apple PodcastsSpotifyWe’re on the journey to 2,000 subscribers. Coach Andrew Miller is taking me under his wing this year as I prepare for my races. Andrew and I will chat for a few minutes each month about what we’ve been working on and why we’re working on it. The idea is to give listeners an idea of what it’s like to work towards a goal with a coach. He will switch between giving advice specific to me and to the community, and give us an idea of why he is doing things. The opportunity to work with a coach and also learn about their process is one I’m excited to share. My life has been quite busy the last couple of months with all of the Trail Running Film Festival screenings, so I haven’t been able to run as much as I had hoped. My races are starting to pick up, so I need to start running those and planning our training for the calendar. It’s nice to work with Andrew and not stress about what I’ve not been doing, instead focusing on what we did do, and what we can do moving forward. Running with a coach is a lot of fun!I hope you are enjoying this segment and it’s intriguing you to look into working with a coach yourself. Make sure to reach out to Andrew if you are considering it! Get full access to Community Trail Running at communitytrailrunning.substack.com/subscribe

We have a new segment (ish?) around here as coach Andrew Miller is taking me under his wing while I run towards Moab Run the Rocks in March. Andrew and I will chat for around five minutes each month about what we’ve been working on, and why we’re working on it. The idea is to give listeners an idea of what it’s like to work towards a goal with a coach. He will switch between giving advice specific to me and to the community at large and give us an idea of why he is doing things. The opportunity to work with a coach and also learn about their process is one I’m excited to share.Moab Run the Rocks was a great time. It was really fun running a stage race for the first time as well as running in the desert for the first time! I had some stomach issues I had to deal with, and getting used to the hot desert sun was a new experience, but the weekend went great overall. Now I’m recovering and trying to figure out what’s next, but I know I’m working with Andrew to get there and that is really exciting!I hope you are enjoying this segment and it’s intriguing you to look into working with a coach yourself. Make sure to reach out to Andrew if you are considering it! Get full access to Community Trail Running at communitytrailrunning.substack.com/subscribe

I had one weekend that I had to take off as I was worn out and needed the rest. Other than that, it was a great month of progress and I’m feeling strong as I head off to Moab! The interval workouts were great, the long runs were tough with some of the weather but I got them done, and now I get to head off to Moab and toe the start line. I’m excited to check it out and honoured to be invited. It’s going to be a blast and a big part of that is because Andrew has me so prepared! I can’t wait to share my experience in Moab with all of you. Moab Run the RocksI’m really excited to run this event in Moab, as I’ve never had the chance to visit that area, much less run through it! Houda invited me down and I was thrilled to be able to say yes. This event looks like an absolute blast, Chantelle Erickson took part last year and told me it’s incredible, so I can’t wait to give it a go myself. We moved intervals/workouts to Tuesdays and I like having the workout to start the week. I’ve been able to add strength training and yoga to my week as well so that felt good and I’m in a very positive place as we head into February. It was great hearing Andrew feeling really good about the past month and I appreciate his support and enthusiasm for this journey as we close in on Moab!Moab Run the RocksI’m really excited to run this event in Moab, as I’ve never had the chance to visit that area, much less run through it! It’s been a big adjustment and I’m finally feeling like I can build a routine and prioritize things properly. It’s still a challenge and I don’t think I’ve got it completely figured out by any means, but the last month felt like I moved in a positive direction. I’m glad Andrew has been able to roll with the punches and we just keep moving forward. The workouts are getting a bit more structured, the long runs are getting a bit longer, and I think we’re gonna be in good shape as we move closer to race day. I’ve not had to deal with weather like that for quite some time, and shoveling snow every day was a challenge I forgot about! So this challenge and the challenge of figuring out my personal time with my new job have been tough but I’m feeling good about it. Andrew is a great coach who keeps me positive so we just keep moving forward toward the goal! The Miller Minutes will air the first Monday of each month, as part of the first Community Trail Running episode of the month. I just started my running so this is our first meeting. The idea was to prioritize moving again, without anything too demanding.
