Discover the profound spiritual paradox of the half shekel commandment - why the Torah demands we give exactly half a coin, not more or less, and how this ancient practice reveals timeless truths about our relationship with the Divine. Rabbi Levi Farkash explores how complete spiritual service paradoxically requires acknowledging our incompleteness, and why passion, not just action, transforms ordinary giving into a "coin of fire."For sponsorship and dedication opportunities email rabbi.levi@chabaddowntownbellevue.orgFollow Rabbi Levi Farkash at:https://www.facebook.com/Chabaddowntownbellevue

But why? And why does the Torah make this procedural order so significant?Drawing from the Rebbe’s profound insight, we uncover how this legal structure reflects the inner courtroom within every Jew.The plaintiff — the Yetzer Hara — who accuses. The defendant — the soul — who partially admits. The oath — our commitment to change. And the concept of “depreciating assets” — the spiritual danger of wasting our time and mission. What happens when we stop negotiating with the inner prosecutor and instead dedicate ourselves fully to our Divine purpose? This episode reveals how a seemingly technical law in Jewish civil code becomes a revolutionary strategy for personal growth, spiritual focus, and mission-driven living. When we refuse to let our spiritual assets depreciate, we merit the fulfillment of the promise:“I will fill the number of your days.”Join us for a powerful exploration of Torah law, Chassidic insight, and practical guidance for overcoming the inner battle and reclaiming every moment of life for its true purpose. For sponsorship and dedication opportunities email rabbi.levi@chabaddowntownbellevue.orgFollow Rabbi Levi Farkash at:https://www.facebook.com/Chabaddowntownbellevue#chavrusawithrabbilevi
Join Rabbi Levi as he explores the relationship between divine law (the Torah) and human morality, centered on the giving of the Ten Commandments from the Torah portion Yisro. Rabbi Levi relayed the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who argued that a stable and enduring moral life is impossible without a divine foundation. The Rebbe's position was supported by interpreting the simultaneous utterance of the Ten Commandments as a sign of the inseparability of laws between man and God and laws between man and man. The discussion used the historical example of Nazi Germany to illustrate the failure of secular, logic-based ethics and included a transcript of a 1963 interview where the Rebbe explained to students why observing ethical practices alone was insufficient for complete spiritual well-being .
