Description

Finding Faith with Melissa is a space for people who want a faith that can actually be lived, not performed. Blending Scripture, neuroscience, psychology, and lived experience, this podcast will explore what it means to follow God as a human with limits, questions, and real life. We will be talking about faith as it shows up in motherhood, marriage, identity, healing, and the ordinary details of life.

In this episode, I’m talking about something I’ve been sitting with a lot lately the cost of following Christ. Where you realize faith doesn’t automatically erase the cycles you thought you would’ve outgrown by now.I share what walking with God has felt like for me lately like being on a narrow path where there’s light, clarity, purpose… and then there’s still this dark cloud that follows behind me filled with doubt, fear, pressure, unmet expectations, and that weight you carry that no one else can really see. I talk about how discouraging it can feel when you’re doing “the right things,” you’re surrendering, you’re obeying… and it still hurts. If you’ve ever felt tired, stuck in the same emotional cycles, or quietly frustrated with the process of healing and growth, this one is for you. This is just me being honest about what it’s like to keep walking with God and learning that sometimes the holiest thing you can do is let yourself be held.
In this episode, I want to talk about why self-worth is wired differently in the brain, why it’s usually untouched even after trauma healings and what actually changes over time. I also want to talk about how childhood criticism shapes this, why imposter syndrome isn’t about confidence, and why faith plays a bigger role in healing worth than most people realize. This is about understanding what’s actually happening inside you.
For a long time, I thought isolation meant something was wrong with me. That I had failed. That I was being set aside. That God was quiet because I did something wrong. But looking back, I can see it differently now. This episode is about the season where everything got quieter. Fewer people. Fewer distractions. Less noise. And how uncomfortable that felt at first. I talk about what it was like to be pulled away from familiar rhythms, validation, and relationships, and how that space exposed things in me I couldn’t see when life was loud. This isn’t a message about romanticizing loneliness or pretending isolation is easy. It’s about understanding why God sometimes removes us from environments that feel safe but are keeping us stuck. Why growth often happens in hidden places. And how isolation can actually be an act of protection, not punishment. If you’re in a season where things feel slower, smaller, or lonelier than you expected, this episode is for you. Not to rush you out of it, but to help you understand what might be forming underneath the surface.
In this episode, I explore what it actually means to be led by God when there is no clear plan, no timeline, and no map. Instead of talking about guidance as information or answers, I share how clarity can come through regulation, safety, and alignment in the body. This conversation weaves together faith, neuroscience, trauma awareness, and Scripture to explain why hearing God is less about trying harder spiritually and more about quieting the internal noise that keeps us in survival mode. This episode is for anyone who believes in God but struggles to understand how faith fits inside a human nervous system, real life responsibilities, and seasons of uncertainty. No formulas. No five year plans. Just enough light for the next faithful step. A slower space to listen, settle, and stay.
In this first episode, I share a little about my myself, and exploring how the way we speak to ourselves shapes our brain, nervous system, and spiritual life. Drawing from neuroscience and Scripture, this conversation breaks down why self-talk is not neutral and how repeated thoughts become biological patterns that influence healing, habits, confidence, and direction. If you’re in a season where you love God but feel stuck in old patterns, this episode is an invitation to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and how transformation begins.
