Dear listener,Thank you for tuning in to OnTrack’s ‘Midnight Typewriter’. Today, I write about ‘doomscrolling’ and how that could be our effort to find ourselves. You’ll hear me type and then at the end, read what I wrote.I hope you enjoy this 100% human made episode.Always open to feedback!
What is your relationship with your parents like? This may be the most honest piece that I’ve written until now. But I think it may seem a bit vague because it hurts when I try to be honest with myself on this topic.- About ‘Midnight Typewriter’OnTrack is a Korean podcast. It’s a conversation between two friends, 윤선생 and 김그린 on different topics. We are aiming to post an episode every month. But to keep you company as you wait for new OnTrack segments, we have been uploading ‘Midnight Typewriter’ pieces. After typing up a short piece on my typewriter, I read it aloud. It’s called Midnight Typewriter.100% human written, human made, even this writing is 100% me.Hope you enjoy.
[I Scraped a Mercedes While Parking- Midnight Typewriter]The Pendulum that Swings Between Pain and Boredom That evening, after complaining that nothing ever changes in my life, I chipped a Mercedes in a parking lot. In one careless second, boredom turned into regret. That’s how the pendulum swings—just when you grow tired of peace, it hands you pain.Today, I think about that pendulum that keeps swinging and us, the people that can’t seem to escape pain and ennui despite the knowledge that the pendulum will swing. As you know, in addition to our regular episodes, we’ve been trying something new. Our show is usually in Korean. But this one is for listeners who are looking for something to sit with in English. It’s called Midnight Typewriter. I hope you enjoy.
[What I Learned from Sleeping in the Mountains in Thailand- Midnight Typewriter]I just came back from Thailand where I hiked from village to village. My bag weighed almost 20kgs and I hiked the steep mountains of Chiang Dao and definitely felt the weight of owning too many clothes and products. I’ll write some more on this trip later but for now, this is what I have. For the most part, you’ll hear me typing. And at the end, you’ll hear what I wrote that night. 100% human-made, unedited and raw.As you know, in addition to our regular episodes, we’ve been trying something new. Why do things need to end? It’s a question that I’ve asked myself since I was a child. I wonder if you did too. I digress in this piece a bit but like always, I come to some sort of understanding by the last line. I’ll explore the idea of endings more in future episodes. Listen to the whole process of typewriting and me reading what I wrote.
I start off writing about how much I hate planning ahead but then I come to a realization!💡In this episode, you’ll hear me typing for the most part.
