I'm back!! After a brief hiatus caused in part due to travel, I am back in time to discuss something I've been looking forward to for months: Downton Abbey The Grand Finale. This beautifully executed final chapter in the story for our beloved characters was a real treat to watch and to discuss with you. Right on the heels of The Gilded Age finale, this film will fill the period drama void left behind by our favorite HBO drama. Spoiler alert: I am recapping the entire film, so if you haven't seen it, go watch and come back! Plus: My advice for traveling with toddlers and small children (The must have list I wish someone had printed and handed to me 3 years ago). In today's episode we are delving into some brain candy for a change: Love Is Blind UK, episodes 1-3. We're talking about the couples, dating in modern times, the role of the human spleen and predictions for who makes it to the altar so far. Also: a breakdown of Netflix's Sirens, Episodes 1-2. As an insider perspective on the lives and inner social workings of the ultra wealthy, this soapy dark comedy is off to an intriguing start. Is Kiki a cult leader? Is Simone in danger? What the heck does "Hey hey" actually mean? We discuss all this and more. Thanks for listening!
Hi Friends! This week based on your feedback and continued excitement over The Gilded Age finale I decided to dive a little deeper into one of our favorite depictions in the show: The Black elite societies in America (in particular the Northeast). Pop culture as a whole right now seems to be obsessing over this group of people as well and with good reason (7:58 if you want to skip right to it!). I'll discuss the themes related to this fascinating group that we saw in The Gilded Age and also how they relate to a recent TV and fashion focus on the historically black parts of Martha's Vineyard. I'll also let you know how this ties into our next entertainment focus: Netflix's limited series, "Sirens". I have restrained myself from bingeing it and will start covering next week. Lastly I get into the (short) trailer for the new Downton Abbey coming this September. Happily overwhelmed with the period drama goodness that only Lord Julian Fellowes can deliver! Thanks for listening!
Hi friends! I hate to say goodbye to our favorite television show but it's time! Join me as I dive deep into the finale episode of the Gilded Age(Season 3 episode 8). We'll also be discussing last week's group question/topic: How women over 40 are making friends. Thank you so much for your responses to (keep 'em coming! prettyprescription17@gmail.com). To skip ahead to the Gilded Age coverage that can be found at 9:13.And what a finale this was! Major conclusions are reached by the end of the episode and still our favorite characters have so much story yet to tell that we look forward to season 4. Next week we will be taking a look at all 5 episodes of Netflix’s Sirens, a drama that is based in modern times but takes a similar close look at the ultra wealthy and their interpersonal relationships, much like the Gilded Age does.
Back in my studio for another episode! This week we are discussing women making new friends over the age of 40. Are such friendships even a thing? How does the modern mature woman connect? Then starting at 9:14 I get into the main topic for today’s episode: An in-depth discussion sharing my thoughts and reactions to Season 3 Episode 7 of The Gilded Age entitled "Ex-Communication". This week’s penultimate episode was as riveting as its predecessors. SO much happens that no one sees the shocking closing scene coming! The preview for the season finale next week sets us up for some major payoffs. So before that happens let’s indulge in some group chat gabbing about our current TV fave, The Gilded Age!
Join me this week on location from an East Coast beach during my family vacation. I steal away for a few moments to share with you how I, a doctor in solo private practice, try to “unplug” and really recharge while I’m away from a job that really demands my constant availability. THEN, starting at 6:41 I get into the main topic for today’s episode: Recapping and covering Season 3 Episode 6 of The Gilded Age. This week’s episode really ratchets up the stakes and the tension for almost all of our characters, and the end of the episode left me literally gasping for air! So take a listen and let’s indulge in some vacay gabbing about our current TV fave, The Gilded Age!***APOLOGIES FOR THE AUDIO! I DID MY BEST TO MINIMIZE NOISE!***
Join me for this week's episode where I discuss a topic that has been on everyone's For You Page: The Coldplay concert heard around the world. We dive deep into what we know and what the fallout has been thus far on this real-life-is-crazier-than-fiction tale of deception. Then we head over to the 1880's to break down another whirlwind episode of your favorite TV show and mine, HBO's The Gilded Age. Season 3 Episode 5 picks up after the dramatic conclusion of Episode 4 and the hits do not stop coming. We see Gladys struggle to acclimate to her new life chapter; George Russell pushes ahead with his railroad expansion plans despite some major red flags; Larry moves forward with his life plans, and Bertha is being tested as she has never been before. Hit play and let's escape into the world of The Gilded Age, a show that ignites our passion for a healthy dose of fussy period dramas. Thanks for listening!
Joining us today is a special guest, Dr. Ruth's hubby Quenton, the official DC fan of their household, to discuss the new Superman movie, written and directed and written by James Gunn. We share our instant reaction to this movie and compare to previous installations. Could this installation be a big step in the right direction for the DC Extended Universe? Tune in to find out. ***Contains Spoilers!!!***
