Feeling overwhelmed as a mom? Tired of the world’s negative view of boys? Wondering if you’re doing enough to prepare your son for the future God has for him?

Welcome to Raising Boys with Purpose.

I’m Brooke—boy mom and Christ follower—and I know firsthand how challenging it can be to raise sons who are ready to launch into adulthood. For more than 25 years, I’ve walked the road of raising two boys, navigating the joy, the questions, the prayers, the mistakes, and the constant desire to guide them well. I researched, lost sleep, learned the hard way, and discovered that raising boys intentionally—with a plan—makes all the difference.

This podcast is here to encourage and equip you as you raise your son to become the man, God created him to be. Together, we’ll focus on building faith in God, responsibility, independence, discipline, resilience, and the real-life skills your son needs for a strong launch into adulthood.

Each week, you’ll find two types of episodes:

  • Tuesday teaching episodes that offer practical strategies, biblical wisdom, and encouragement for raising boys with purpose.

  • Thursday episodes—Mom’s Perspective—where I share commentary on articles, news stories, and cultural conversations shaping how we raise our boys today.

We’ll talk honestly about the challenges of raising boys in a noisy world, how culture views our sons, and how we can help them see themselves the way God sees them. And we’ll do it with truth, grace, encouragement, and a little humor—because motherhood needs that too.

If you’re ready to parent with intention, pursue the future God has for your son, and walk this journey alongside another mom who understands, you’re in the right place.

Grab your iced coffee—it’s time to start raising boys with purpose.

Money is everywhere—and so is the pressure to spend it. Our sons are growing up in a world that constantly tells them what they need, what they should buy, and what they’re missing out on. But learning how to manage money? That often gets overlooked. So how do we step in and teach them something different? In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose, we’re talking about how to help your son understand the value of money and begin using it wisely. Not perfectly—but intentionally. Through real-life examples and practical ideas, this conversation will help you start building healthy money habits with your son—so he can learn to earn, spend, save, and give in a way that prepares him for adulthood. Because one day, he won’t be managing your money… he’ll be managing his own.   Scripture Referenced “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6 “Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread…” — Proverbs 12:11 “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance…” — Proverbs 21:5 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Are teen boys really disrespectful… or are we misunderstanding what’s actually happening? “Disrespectful teens” is one of the most common frustrations in parenting teenagers. The eye rolls, the tone, the pushback—it can feel constant. But what if some of what we’re calling disrespect is actually disagreement, growth, or a teen learning how to express himself? In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose, we’re breaking down how to tell the difference between true disrespect and normal teenage development—so you can respond with clarity instead of frustration. Because raising boys into respectful, strong young men isn’t just about behavior—it’s about teaching them how to think, communicate, and grow into adulthood. If you’re parenting a teen son and wondering, “Is this normal… or do I need to step in?” This episode will give you practical guidance and encouragement for the journey.   Scripture “Honor your father and mother.” — Matthew 15:4   Connect & Continue the Conversation Instagram: 👉 https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/ Facebook: Raising Boys with Purpose Group 👉 www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose/
Have you noticed your teen son pulling away from hugs? As boys grow into young men, the way they receive love begins to change—and for many moms, that shift can feel confusing… and even a little hurtful. But it’s not that your son doesn’t need affection anymore. It just looks different now. In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose, we’re continuing our 5 Love Languages of Teenagers series, based on The 5 Love Languages of Teenagers by Gary Chapman, focusing on Physical Touch and how it evolves during the teen years. You’ll learn how to recognize when your son is open to affection, where he feels most comfortable receiving it, and how to show love in ways he’ll actually accept—without pushing him away.   💡 In This Episode: Why teen boys often pull away from hugs How physical touch changes during adolescence When your son is most open to affection Where physical touch feels comfortable (and where it doesn’t) Simple, practical ways to show love your teen will receive   🤍 Join the Community If you’re raising a son and want encouragement, support, and real conversations with other moms, come join us in the Raising Boys with Purpose Facebook group: 👉 www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose/   Instagram 👉 https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/     🎧 Listen & Follow If this episode encouraged you, be sure to follow the podcast and share it with another mom raising sons.

Do words of affirmation matter for teen boys? As moms raising sons, it’s easy to focus on correcting behavior as our boys grow toward adulthood. But encouragement and affirmation can play a powerful role in shaping a teen boy’s confidence, character, and connection with his parents. In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose, we begin a new Mom’s Perspective series inspired by Gary Chapman’s book The 5 Love Languages of Teenagers. Throughout this series, we’ll explore how understanding the five love languages can help moms better connect with their sons during the teenage years. Today we’re focusing on Words of Affirmation and why a mother’s words carry so much power. When our boys know they are seen, appreciated, and loved, it strengthens their confidence and encourages them as they grow into responsible young men. If you're a Christian mom raising teen boys, this episode will encourage you to slow down, notice what your son is doing right, and intentionally speak life-giving words into his life.   Resources & Links Join the Raising Boys with Purpose Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose/ Follow Brooke Lynn on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/brookelynnparentingcoach Follow Raising Boys with Purpose on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/   Book Referenced The 5 Love Languages of Teenagers by Gary Chapman   About the Podcast Raising Boys with Purpose is a podcast for moms raising teen and young adult sons who want to equip their boys with faith, character, responsibility, and life skills needed for adulthood. In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose, Brooke offers encouragement for moms who may be carrying doubts about their parenting. Who your son spends time with matters. As moms raising boys, we often tell them, “Don’t follow the crowd.” But the real goal isn’t avoiding every crowd — it’s helping our sons learn how to recognize healthy influence and wise friendships. In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose, we talk about how social groups shape our sons’ choices, character, and direction in life. As boys grow into young men, they will become part of many different circles — friends at school, sports teams, church groups, and social communities. Learning how to navigate those environments with wisdom is an important life skill. Together we discuss how to help our sons develop a moral compass grounded in God’s Word, so they can choose friendships that strengthen their character and support their faith. Does birth order really matter? And do your children remember their childhood the same way you do? In this Mom’s Perspective episode of Raising Boys with Purpose, we explore birth order through a deeper lens — not just personality traits, but seasons of family life. As Christian moms raising boys, we may assume we parent each child the same. But family dynamics shift over time. Moves, financial changes, spiritual growth, maturity, and siblings leaving home all shape how each son experiences childhood. No two children truly grow up in the same family — even under the same roof. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there is a season for everything. God was present in every chapter of your parenting journey, and He is still shaping your sons through each one. — 📱 Join our community: Facebook Group – Raising Boys with Purpose: www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose/ Instagram – @RaisingBoysWithPurpose:  https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/

In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose, we explore what the Bible says about righteous anger, how to process it in a healthy way, and how to model emotional maturity for our sons. Because our boys are watching. And how we handle conflict, forgiveness, and trust in God will shape the men they become. We trust people every single day — drivers on the road, systems we don’t fully understand, and strangers to follow the rules. But when it comes to trusting God completely, why does it sometimes feel harder? In this Mom’s Perspective episode of Raising Boys with Purpose, we reflect on what it means to trust God instead of living in anxiety — especially as Christian moms raising teenage and young adult sons. While we naturally place trust in the world around us, Scripture calls us to seek God first and rest in His care. If you’ve been feeling anxious about your son’s future or today’s challenges, this episode offers gentle encouragement and a reminder that God is faithful and in control.
