By The Grace Of The True Guru:ਸਖੀ ਆਉ ਸਖੀ ਵਸਿ ਆਉ ਸਖੀ ਅਸੀ ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਵਹ ॥Come, O my sisters, come, O my companions, and let us remain under the Lord's control. Let's sing the Songs of Bliss of our Husband Lord.ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਸਖੀ ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਸਖੀ ਮਤੁ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭਾਵਹ ॥Renounce your pride, O my companions, renounce your egotistical pride, O my sisters, so that you may become pleasing to your Beloved.ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਕਾਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਸੇਵਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੋ ॥Renounce pride, emotional attachment, corruption and duality, and serve the One Immaculate Lord.ਲਗੁ ਚਰਣ ਸਰਣ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਗਲ ਦੁਰਤ ਬਿਖੰਡਨੋ ॥Hold tight to the Sanctuary of the Feet of the Merciful Lord, your Beloved, the Destroyer of all sins.ਹੋਇ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸੀ ਤਜਿ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਬਿਧੀ ਨ ਧਾਵਾ ॥Be the slave of His slaves, forsake sorrow and sadness, and do not bother with other devices.ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਕਰਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤਾਮਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਵਾ ॥੧॥Prays Nanak, O Lord, please bless me with Your Mercy, that I may sing Your songs of bliss. ||1||ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਟੋਹਨੀ ॥The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of my Beloved, is like a cane to a blind man.ਓਹ ਜੋਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਮੋਹਨੀ ॥Maya seduces in so many ways, like a beautiful enticing woman.ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮਹਾ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰਿ ਚੰਚਲਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਵ ਦਿਖਾਵਏ ॥This enticer is so incredibly beautiful and clever; she entices with countless suggestive gestures.ਹੋਇ ਢੀਠ ਮੀਠੀ ਮਨਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਣ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥Maya is stubborn and persistent; she seems so sweet to the mind, and then he does not chant the Naam.ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਨਹਿ ਤੀਰੈ ਬਰਤ ਪੂਜਾ ਬਾਟ ਘਾਟੈ ਜੋਹਨੀ ॥At home, in the forest, on the banks of sacred rivers, fasting, worshipping, on the roads and on the shore, she is spying.ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਮੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਟੋਹਨੀ ॥੨॥Prays Nanak, please bless me with Your Kindness, Lord; I am blind, and Your Name is my cane. ||2||ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਨਾਥ ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਰਖਹੁ ॥I am helpless and masterless; You, O my Beloved, are my Lord and Master. As it pleases You, so do You protect me.ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਰੀਝਾਵਉ ਕਹਿ ਮੁਖਹੁ ॥I have no wisdom or cleverness; what face should I put on to please You?ਨਹ ਚਤੁਰਿ ਸੁਘਰਿ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਬੇਤੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨਿ ਗੁਨੁ ਨਹੀ ॥I am not clever, skillful or wise; I am worthless, without any virtue at all.ਨਹ ਰੂਪ ਧੂਪ ਨ ਨੈਣ ਬੰਕੇ ਜਹ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਹ ਰਖੁ ਤੁਹੀ ॥I have no beauty or pleasing smell, no beautiful eyes. As it pleases You, please preserve me, O Lord.ਜੈ ਜੈ ਜਇਅੰਪਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰੁਣਾਪਤਿ ਗਤਿ ਕਿਨਿ ਲਖਹੁ ॥His victory is celebrated by all; how can I know the state of the Lord of Mercy?ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੇਵ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਖਹੁ ॥੩॥Prays Nanak, I am the servant of Your servants; as it pleases You, please preserve me. ||3||ਮੋਹਿ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਤੁਮ ਨੀਰ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਸਰੈ ॥I am the fish, and You are the water; without You, what can I do?ਮੋਹਿ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਬੂੰਦ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਉ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਰੈ ॥I am the rainbird, and You are the rain-drop; when it falls into my mouth, I am satisfied.When it falls into my mouth, my thirst is quenched; You are the Lord of my soul, my heart, my breath of life.Touch me, and caress me, O Lord, You are in all; let me meet You, so that I may be emancipated.In my consciousness I remember You, and the darkness is dispelled, like the chakvi duck, which longs to see the dawn.Prays Nanak, O my Beloved, please unite me with Yourself; the fish never forgets the water. ||4||Blessed, blessed is my destiny; my Husband Lord has come into my home.The gate of my mansion is so beautiful, and all my gardens are so green and alive.My peace-giving Lord and Master has rejuvenated me, and blessed me with great joy, bliss and love.My Young Husband Lord is eternally young, and His body is forever youthful; what tongue can I use to chant His Glorious Praises?My bed is beautiful; gazing upon Him, I am fascinated, and all my doubts and pains are dispelled.Prays Nanak, my hopes are fulfilled; my Lord and Master is unlimited. ||5||1||3||Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Bilaaval - 847

ਗੂਜਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥goojaree mahalaa panjavaa ||Goojaree, Fifth Mehla:ਜਿਸੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੋ ਅਪਨੈ ਦੁਖਿ ਭਰਿਆ ॥jis maanukh peh karau benatee so apanai dhukh bhariaa ||ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੋਲ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੀਹ ਨਿਵਿਰਤ ਕਰੇ?) ।Whoever I approach to ask for help, I find him full of his own troubles.ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਭਉ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਿਆ ॥੧॥paarabraham jin ridhai araadhiaa tin bhau saagar tariaa ||1||ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਡਰ (-ਭਰਿਆ ਸੰਸਾਰ-) ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਪਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ।੧।One who worships in his heart the Supreme Lord God, crosses over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||ਗੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋ ਨ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟੈ ॥gur har bin ko na birathaa dhukh kaaTai ||ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਧਿਰ (ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਪੀੜ ਕੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ । No one, except the Guru-Lord, can dispel our pain and sorrow.ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤਜਿ ਅਵਰ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੇ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਜਸੁ ਘਾਟੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥prabh taj avar sevak je hoiee hai tit maan mahat jas ghaaTai ||1|| rahaau ||ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਆਦਰਾ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੋਭਾ ਘਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।Forsaking God, and serving another, one's honor, dignity and reputation are decreased. ||1||Pause||ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਸਨਬੰਧ ਸੈਨ ਸਾਕ ਕਿਤ ਹੀ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥maiaa ke sanaba(n)dh sain saak kit hee kaam na aaiaa ||ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਇਹ ਸਾਕ ਸਜਣ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ (ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਵਿਰਤੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੇ । Relatives, relations and family bound through Maya are of no avail.ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਨੀਚ ਕੁਲੁ ਊਚਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥har kaa dhaas neech kul uoochaa tis sa(n)g man baa(n)chhat fal paiaa ||2||ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਜੇ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਕੁਲ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ (ਜਾਣੋ), ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਈਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।The Lord's servant, although of lowly birth, is exalted. Associating with him, one obtains the fruits of his mind's desires. ||2||ਲਾਖ ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੇ ਬਿੰਜਨ ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨ ਬੂਝੀ ॥laakh koT bikhiaa ke bi(n)jan taa meh tirasan na boojhee ||ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਹੋਣ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਿਆਂ (ਖਾਣ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ । Through corruption, one may obtain thousands and millions of enjoyments, but even so, his desires are not satisfied through them.ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੋਟਿ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਸੂਝੀ ॥੩॥simarat naam koT aujeeaaraa basat agochar soojhee ||3||ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਅੰਦਰ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ (ਸੂਰਜਾਂ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ।੩।Remembering the Naam, the Name of the Lord, millions of lights appear, and the incomprehensible is understood. ||3||ਫਿਰਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਤੁਮ੍ਹਰੈ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥firat firat tum(h)rai dhuaar aaiaa bhai bha(n)jan har raiaa ||ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈWandering and roaming around, I have come to Your Door, Destroyer of fear, O Lord King.ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਬਾਛੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੬॥੭॥saadh ke charan dhoor jan baachhai sukh naanak ih paiaa ||4||6||7||ਉਹ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਇਹ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੬।੭।Servant Nanak yearns for the dust of the feet of the Holy; in it, he finds peace. ||4||6||7||Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Gujri - 497

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥soratt mahalaa nauvaa ||Sorat'h, Ninth Mehla:ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਰਹੀ ॥man kee man hee maeh rahee ||:—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵੇਖੋ, ਮਾਇਆ ਧਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗਤਾ! ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ The mind remains in the mind.ਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੇ ਨ ਤੀਰਥ ਸੇਵੇ ਚੋਟੀ ਕਾਲਿ ਗਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥naa har bhaje na teerath seve choTee kaal gahee ||1|| rahaau ||ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਤੇ, ਮੌਤ ਨੇ ਬੋਦੀ ਆ ਫੜੀ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।He does not meditate on the Lord, nor does he perform service at sacred shrines, and so death seizes him by the hair. ||1||Pause||ਦਾਰਾ ਮੀਤ ਪੂਤ ਰਥ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਧਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਮਹੀ ॥dhaaraa meet poot rath sa(n)pat dhan pooran sabh mahee ||ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਗੱਡੀਆਂ, ਮਾਲ-ਅਸਬਾਬ, ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਧਰਤੀ—ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਸਮਝੋ Wife, friends, children, carriages, property, total wealth, the entire worldਅਵਰ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਏ ਜਾਨਉ ਭਜਨੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਕੋ ਸਹੀ ॥੧॥avar sagal mithiaa e jaanau bhajan raam ko sahee ||1||ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਸਮਝੋ । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ (ਹੀ) ਅਸਲ (ਸਾਥੀ) ਹੈ ।੧।- know that all of these things are false. The Lord's meditation alone is true. ||1||ਫਿਰਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਜੁਗ ਹਾਰਿਓ ਮਾਨਸ ਦੇਹ ਲਹੀ ॥firat firat bahute jug haario maanas dheh lahee ||ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਈ ਜੁਗ (ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਭਟਕ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਥੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ । (ਹੁਣ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ Wandering, wandering around for so many ages, he has grown weary, and finally, he obtained this human body.ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਤ ਮਿਲਨ ਕੀ ਬਰੀਆ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਹਾ ਨਹੀ ॥੨॥੨॥naanak kahat milan kee bareeaa simarat kahaa nahee ||2||2||ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਇਹੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ? ।੨।੨।Says Nanak, this is the opportunity to meet the Lord; why don't you remember Him in meditation? ||2||2||Guru Tegh Bahaadur Ji in Raag Sorath - 631

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥salok mahalaa teejaa ||Shalok, Third Mehla:ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜੀਅ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥bin satigur seve jeea ke ba(n)dhanaa vich haumai karam kamaeh ||ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਕਰਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਲਈ ਬੰਧਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, Without serving the True Guru, the soul is in the bondage of deeds done in ego.ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੀ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥bin satigur seve ttaur na paavahee mar ja(n)meh aaveh jaeh ||ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਕਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਥਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ, ਉਹ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਫੇਰ) ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਫੇਰ) ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; Without serving the True Guru, one finds no place of rest; he dies, and is reincarnated, and continues coming and going.ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਫਿਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥bin satigur seve fikaa bolanaa naam na vasai man maeh ||ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਭੀ ਫਿੱਕੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ‘ਨਾਮ’ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ । Without serving the True Guru, one's speech is vapid and insipid; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, does not abide in his mind.ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਨਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥naanak bin satigur seve jam pur badhe maareean muh kaalai autt jaeh ||1||ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਾਲੇ-ਮੂੰਹ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤੁਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਜਮਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਧੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਾਰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮੁਕਾਲਖ ਖੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਭੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ।੧।O Nanak, without serving the True Guru, they are bound and beaten in the City of Death; they arise and depart with blackened faces. ||1||ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥mahalaa pehilaa ||First Mehla:ਜਾਲਉ ਐਸੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਮੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ॥jaalau aaisee reet jit mai piaaraa veesarai ||ਮੈਂ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿਆਂ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਰ ਜਾਏ, Burn away those rituals which lead you to forget the Beloved Lord.ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਹੈ ॥੨॥naanak saiee bhalee pareet jit saahib setee pat rahai ||2||ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਖਸਮ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇ ।੨।O Nanak, sublime is that love, which preserves my honor with my Lord Master. ||2||ਪਉੜੀ ॥pauRee ||Pauree:ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥har iko dhaataa seveeaai har ik dhiaaieeaai ||ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਕੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ; Serve the One Lord, the Great Giver; meditate on the One Lord.ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥har iko dhaataa ma(n)geeaai man chi(n)dhiaa paieeaai ||ਇਕੋ ਹਰੀ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੀ ਮੁਰਾਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ; Beg from the One Lord, the Great Giver, and you shall obtain your heart's desires.ਜੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਾ ਲਾਜ ਮਰਾਈਐ ॥je dhooje paasahu ma(n)geeaai taa laaj maraieeaai ||ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਮੰਗੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਈਏ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ) । But if you beg from another, then you shall be shamed and destroyed.ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥jin seviaa tin fal paiaa tis jan kee sabh bhukh gavaieeaai ||ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਫਲ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।One who serves the Lord obtains the fruits of his rewards; all of his hunger is satisfied.ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧੦॥naanak tin viTahu vaariaa jin anadhin hiradhai har naam dhiaaieeaai ||10||ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ, ਜੋ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧੦।Nanak is a sacrifice to those, who night and day, meditate within their hearts on the Name of the Lord. ||10||Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Raag Vadhans - 589,590

By The Grace Of The True Guru:ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਪ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥jo har seveh sa(n)t bhagat tin ke sabh paap nivaaree ||ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਸੰਤ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ (ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ।Those Saints and devotees who serve the Lord have all their sins washed away.ਹਮ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਖੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਜੁ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥ham uoopar kirapaa kar suaamee rakh sa(n)gat tum ju piaaree ||1||ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਸ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਜੇਹੜੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।Have Mercy on me, O Lord and Master, and keep me in the Sangat, the Congregation that You love. ||1||ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥har gun keh na sakau banavaaree ||ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ I cannot even speak the Praises of the Lord, the Gardener of the world.ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਥਰ ਨੀਰਿ ਡੁਬਤ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਖਣ ਹਮ ਤਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ham paapee paathar neer ddubat kar kirapaa paakhan ham taaree || rahaau ||ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਪਾਪੀ ਹਾਂ, ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪੱਥਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪੱਥਰਾਂ (ਪੱਥਰ-ਦਿਲਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈ ।ਰਹਾਉWe are sinners, sinking like stones in water; grant Your Grace, and carry us stones across. ||Pause||ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੋਰਚਾ ਲਗਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥janam janam ke laage bikh morachaa lag sa(n)gat saadh savaaree ||ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੰਬੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੰਗਾਲ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸੋਧਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।The rust of poison and corruption from countless incarnations sticks to us; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, it is cleaned away.ਜਿਉ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਬੈਸੰਤਰਿ ਤਾਇਓ ਮਲੁ ਕਾਟੀ ਕਟਿਤ ਉਤਾਰੀ ॥੨॥jiau ka(n)chan baisa(n)tar taio mal kaaTee kaTit autaaree ||2||ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੋਨਾ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਤਪਾਇਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,It is just like gold, which is heated in the fire, to remove the impurities from it. ||2||ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨੁ ਜਪਉ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥har har japan japau dhin raatee jap har har har aur dhaaree ||ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤਾਂਹੀਏਂ) ਮੈਂ (ਭੀ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ I chant the chant of the Name of the Lord, day and night; I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, and enshrine it within my heart.ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜਗਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੩॥har har har aaukhadh jag pooraa jap har har haumai maaree ||3||। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਐਸੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਰ ਕਰਨੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਖੁੰਝਦੀ । ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਮੁਕਾ ਸਕੀਦੀ ਹੈ ।੩।The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, is the most perfect medicine in this world; chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have conquered my ego. ||3||ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧਿ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰੀ ॥har har agam agaadh bodh apara(n)par purakh apaaree ||ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!
