FHS Host Binx interviews Prairieland Visiting Animals Association (PVAA), an organization that has been serving Shawnee County since 1992 by recruiting, training, and supporting therapy animal teams. These teams provide comfort and emotional support in hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centers, libraries, and other community spaces.PVAA focuses on the powerful connection between humans and animals, using that bond to improve emotional, social, and mental well-being. Therapy animals have been shown to reduce stress and bring comfort to people in difficult situations, offering hope and connection when it’s needed most.Through training, mentorship, and community involvement, PVAA continues to grow its network of therapy teams while encouraging new volunteers to get involved in this impactful and rewarding work.
