World will live! Worlds will die! And the podcast will never be the same again! Okay, it'll be fine, but we're still diving deep into some Crisis Management with this one. Kevin Miller, author of Two Morrow's The Crisis Companion joins Ian, Murd and Brandon this episode, going into our combined Crisis histories, the mounds of research Kevin achieved to create the Companion (including interviews with a bunch of those involved at DC and Crisis itself), what made Crisis work better than other similar attempts at continuity resets, how close we may have come to Marvel publishing DC instead of what we got (and here's the link to the Jim Shooter biographical interviews we mentioned),the joy that is Silver-Age sillyness, where DC is now in the Waid era, quoting and referencing pages from Murd's Crisis thesis, some of our favorite Crisis moments, the wonder that is George Perez's artwork, how DC should utilize the word Crisis in their crossovers moving forward, what we can do to build the comic book industry forward for further generations, that time Kevin was Lex Luthor on Smallville, and so much more! You can also follow Comic Timing on Bluesky at https://bsky.app/profile/comictiming.bsky.social, on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ComicTiming/, and on Instagram at http://instagram.com/comictimingpodcast. Ian and Kris are done with a whirlwind two weekends straight of conventions, and they have a lot to say about it! First up, this year's Flame Con, held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, a new venue for the event. They discuss how the new space compares to previous locations, the show floor, innovative cosplay, free beauty products, the feel of the con compared to other comic conventions, and of course, panels attended. This includes a full slate of panels run by The Graymalkin Lane Podcast, including their Mutant Fashion Review, and a sit-down with Gregory Wright and Terry Kavanagh on queer characters at Marvel in the 80s and 90s.They then discuss Anime NYC 2026 in full, including this year's Netflix showcase of upcoming anime series, GKIDS distributing Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust to theaters in the US, the growing disdain towards Crunchyroll and their diminishing presence at the con, how to attempt to read subtitles in a crowded room, managing industry presence at the end of a con season, awkward placement of 18+ exhibitors, where the heck Artist Alley should be in Javits, Kris' return to running panels, attending an anime Masquerade for the first time in years, the ongoing saga of where to pee in Javits, and so much more!Flame Con: 0:05:24Anime NYC: 1:02:38You can support future releases of Comic Timing and get in on the occasional early releases of the show at http://www.patreon.com/ComicTiming.
