Radio was once the primary medium in the U.S. Millions of Americans tuned in every day to their favorite shows – comedy, drama, soap operas, suspense, horror, and of course science fiction. Shows like X Minus One, Dimension X, Space Patrol, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and The Amazing Interplanetary Adventures of Flash Gordon, all telling stories entirely through sound. Though the Golden Age of Radio is long gone, the art form lives on, mostly now as audio podcasts. Our In Depth guest today, Christopher Hart, is the creator, writer, and producer of a prime example, the long-running sci-fi serial Exoplanetary. Christopher and company produced the very first episode back in 2016, and 10 years later, they're still at it. The troupe will be presenting their very first live on-stage show, complete with music and sound effects, on Thursday, September 17th 7pm at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI).

Thursday, September 17, 2026 is the new show date. If you already bought tickets for the old date, they will work for the new date.  And, if you haven't bought tickets yet, now's the time. There will be a link in the show notes (see above). We rehearsed it the other day and we have a funny, exciting adventure to share with you. It's all-new and is a great jumping-on point, so if you want to bring your friends, you won't have to explain anything to them, other than that they will have a great time. It's a show, in space, about technology. And this episode will be called "Attack of the BattlePyramid." Because if you come across a BattlePyramid, odds are something's getting attacked. I'll share more once there's more to share but for now, I look forward to seeing you there. 7pm, Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Empirical Theater in the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, in sunny Portland, Oregon
