If you've ever wondered how comedy evolved from Civil War lecture halls to cocaine-fueled comedy clubs, Ritch Shydner has the stories and the scars to prove it. The veteran comic, author, and self-proclaimed comedy historian returns to deliver a hilarious masterclass on stand-up's messy, magical past. From his nights sharing stages (and substances) with legends like Sam Kinison to the moment Robin Williams "borrowed" one of his jokes, Ritch paints a picture of the art form's wild evolution. He also drops mind-blowing facts about the origins of stand-up, like how a guy named Artemus Ward made Abraham Lincoln laugh through the Civil War, while weaving in his own road-warrior adventures from the 1980s boom. It's a funny, fast, and surprisingly educational trip through laughter itself. Show Highlights: Ritch reveals how Robin Williams once did one of his jokes on SNL — and tried to pay him for it. The 1980s comedy scene: when cocaine, chaos, and creativity all shared the same dressing room. How a 19th-century comic helped Abraham Lincoln survive the stress of war — with punchlines. Sam Kinison's early days: from college bombings to HBO breakout fame (and a drug deal or two). The secret link between vaudeville, radio, and today's stand-up podcasts. What Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, and today's comics all have in common, total fearlessness. The moment Ritch had to perform right after John Lennon's death — and how one comic ruined it. I admit I've never been a big fan of podcasts, but this one is actually quite good! Jeff's dry wit and captivating guests make for a primo show. And, I'm not just saying that to score some free Jeff Dwoskin Show swag...but if I did, that would be cool.

What can I say about this podcast that you haven’t heard already? Funny? Irreverent?Poignant? Nostalgic!? How about topical? I guess no one else said all those things, but I’m not reading all 33 other comments to make sure. If you’re looking for a guy who has his finger on the pulse of Furry Culture…uh, this is not the podcast for you. But, if you’re looking for a guy who’s got a podcast; Dwoskin’s your guy. Comedy gold and an interviewing powerhouse: Live from Detroit: It’s The Jeff Dwoskin Show

Let me just say, I’m totally digging Jeff’s Poscasts. Not just the content and guests, but the comfortable rapport that flows through the conversation. I find it not just an entertaining listen, but some really informative content about the guests. And what great guests. Jennifer Candy, Art Bell and Ted Neeley (just to mention a few). Admittedly, I can’t wait to get caught up on J Chris Newberg and Burt Ward. Plus bonus content! I mean you can’t beat a nice Social Media tip or some hashtag news. Keep up the great work, Jeff! Looking forward to many great new episodes!!!👍🏻
