Rod Hannifey has been doing the numbers. He reckons 80 to 85 per cent of Australian truck drivers do everything right, another 10 to 15 per cent get pushed too hard by a boss or a customer, and fewer than 5 per cent have decided the rules do not apply to them. What worries him is that police ministers and commissioners seem increasingly willing to talk about the whole industry as though it were that last 5 per cent.
