Have you thought that our kitchens and gardens can be a place of power, and freedom?Decolonisation might sound like a big term but it can start small. We can start right at our kitchen by reclaiming our health and wellbeing. Decolonial might sound like disengagement, but it is anything but disengagement...it's about engagement with the living wisdom of our community and finding interconnection in the web of life. In the second episode of Homebound podcasts season 1, an architect turned radical gardener Pranathi shares about reclaiming health, wellbeing and life in general while leading a slow life. She calls her lifestyle "treading on earth softly".As Pranathi navigates life through grounding and working with earth elements, she keeps busy unlearning and relearning through a plants-eye-perspective. A perspective worth listening to. This episode will bring you up-close with hands-on tips from her kitchen and alternative means of farming.
Have you thought about how political your plate can be?If farmers are at the centre of our food system, how can we better acknowledge them in our plates? If our farming system is guided by monsoon, how changing climate is disrupting that? And about the imported food culture and how to better replace them with local produce? With Prashant Khanal, we will dive into the politics behind our choice of food and how that relates to sustainable food systems. We have also deeply reflected on our ancestral food heritage that links to seasonality, diversity, locality, respect for nature, and nourishment beyond modern norms. BONUS: An audio brief on how to make your own sourdough bread!!
The food on your plate, is it so simple? The first season of Homebound Podcasts focused on the slow food culture. What we have learned along the way while researching and recording for the first season have blown our mind and might just change the way you think of food. Carved with voices of extraordinary wisdom keepers, we have tried to widely cover the slow and subtle aspects of food. But this season is beyond that, you will learn about:😇 Our physical existence unpacked from the lens of our wisdom traditions.🥘 Healing through the lens of Ayurveda and Himalayan healing sciences and how food is central to that.🥗 Food from the sense of politico-economy, our sociocultural, ethnobotanical evolution, etc.🦠 Our gut microbiota, and their role in defining our emotional and physical wellbeing🪷 Food as a spiritual means for a meaningful existence🌾 Regenerative and responsible agriculture and how we can consume more sustainably, how can we be creators before consumers?🍛 And not to mention, kitchen hacks, recipes, comfort food, sourdoughs, fermentation, dal-bhat, kitchen herbalism, and so. much more. Here's a little teaser for Season 1. Stay tuned as we will launch our first episode soon.
