We welcomed Rabbi Mike Rothschild to discuss AI and how it can serve the disabled community. We examined both philosophical and pragmatic dimensions, foregrounding how AI, assistive robotics, autonomous mobility, and advanced prosthetics can enhance independence while insisting upon the concomitant necessities of affordability and equitable distribution. I stressed that without systemic supports—reformed Medicare and Medicaid mechanisms, targeted subsidies, and potential revenue models such as modest financial transaction levies—the transformative potential of these technologies will remain inaccessible to many. We delineated immediate, applicable benefits including AI-driven accessibility tools that translate speech, generate captions, summarize complex documents, automate administrative burdens, and manage ticketing systems so that user feedback is tracked, prioritized, and acted upon. I acknowledged the ethical and technical concerns surrounding implanted brain–computer interfaces and advocated for noninvasive wearables and robust infrastructural redundancies—ramps, lifts, and universal design—that preserve autonomy and dignity. Finally, I invited listeners to engage with Rabbi Rothschild’s life‑logging and advocacy work and affirmed our commitment to continue interrogating how technology and policy can conjointly realize fuller inclusion for people with disabilities.I take a more policy and ethical view of the conversation we had with Rabbi Rothschild. We focus on equity, access, and the social choices required. I state plainly that new technology must be paired with systems that make it affordable. We explain his suggestions such as modest taxes on high speed trading or levies on automation firms as one route to fund support. I also record his caution about political strings attached to any stipend and his call to keep universal basic income payments simple and unconditional when possible. We also report his call for better design and inclusion. I repeat his argument that ramps, grab bars, and accessibility built into new construction help everyone. We stress that corporations must open channels for real users to speak. I close by noting the unique research value of his life-logging project. We say that long archives like his can help train better, fairer AI systems and that we will continue this conversation in future episodes.Takeaways:We concluded that AI and robotics can materially increase independence for people with disabilities by automating daily tasks and enabling mobility.I emphasized that affordability and equitable access must accompany technological advances, or new tools will remain unavailable to many.We discussed practical near-term uses such as AI assistants for paperwork, voice interfaces, captioning, translation, and ticketing systems to address accessibility issues.I raised caution about invasive brain implants and advocated for wearable brain–computer interfaces as reversible, user-controlled alternatives. We explored systemic responses, including proposals like a modest financial transaction tax and universal basic income to support displaced workers and enable access.I urged designers and corporations to implement accessible default infrastructure such as ramps, backups for elevators, and proactive user feedback channels. We highlighted autonomous vehicles and delivery robots as transformative mobility options for people who cannot drive, while noting weather and urban challenges remain to solve.Links referenced in this episode:youtube.comdiscord.melinktree.commedium.comCompanies mentioned in this episode:60 MinutesAbilities ExpoAGUIAR Professional TrainingAmazonAngel CityApp StoreDiscordFacebookGoogle PlayLinktreeNeuralinkServe RoboticsSoCal Adaptive SportsTeach For AmericaTeslaTriumphUberWaymoWalk and Roll LiveYouTube

We speak with Spann Cordle, who shares his lived experience as a Walmart associate and the deep impact of his service dog, Finn, on his work and advocacy. We describe concrete ways Finn aided daily life and how Spann used visibility to change perceptions and open doors for others with disabilities. We also address concerns about how AI and art can misrepresent disability and why authentic voices must lead that conversation. We aim to leave listeners with clear reasons to support inclusion, hire people with disabilities, and amplify lived experience. We listened as Spann described his life from premature birth to a resilient adulthood marked by cerebral palsy. He recounted his education, his passage through public school and higher learning, and his varied career path that led him to Walmart. He articulated his desire to give voice to those who cannot speak. We emphasized the moments when Spann and his service dog Finn moved from private accommodation to corporate recognition. The narrative was sober and clear. It highlighted perseverance, practical adaptation, and the steady work of changing perceptions about disability and capability.Takeaways:I used AI tools like ChatGPT to narrow possibilities and locate my missing passport effectively. We discussed how artificial intelligence can misrepresent people with disabilities and require careful oversight.I described Finn, my service dog, and how he performed essential mobility and daily living tasks.I emphasized that workplace inclusion begins with seeing the person first, not the wheelchair or crutches. We noted that service dogs improve independence but cost and training barriers make access unequal for many.I urged disabled jobseekers to highlight strengths, prepare for interviews, and speak confidently about abilities. We shared resources about adaptive sports, community events, and advocacy to connect people and foster opportunities.Companies mentioned in this episode:WalmartSam's ClubWalmart WorldAGUIAR Professional TrainingAbilities ExpoJack in the BoxThe North FaceVCF GroupDiscovery ChannelCanine Specialty TrainingKiwanisVerizon
