The Rockies Insider with Patrick Lyons

Saturday was a great day for a Rockies win as Todd Helton had his statue unveiled in front of Coors Field. Will there be more to come in terms of honoring the greats of this franchise? Should there be? With six games remaining, the odds of Colorado losing 100 games again are high. However, there's a lot more to watch: Hunter Goodman's push for 40 homers, TJ Rumfield's case for the NL Rookie of the Year Award and quite possibly Kyle Freeland's final start in Denver wearing purple.  Plus, the case for Charlie Condon's call-up and the one starting pitcher on Thursday that might remind us all how the Colorado Rockies got in such a mess. 🎥WATCH LIVE 🎥 https://www.youtube.com/@TheRockiesInsider 🎧 LISTEN 🎧  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-rockies-insider-with-patrick-lyons/id1762349675 https://open.spotify.com/show/2MVUbiBbDp3wM85z2yy0Ut ✏️WRITTEN ✏️ https://www.justbaseball.com/author/patrickdennislyons/ https://patrickdlyons.substack.com/ 🚨 SOCIAL MEDIA 🚨 https://x.com/Rockies_Insider https://x.com/PatrickDLyons https://www.threads.net/@rockies_insider https://www.threads.net/@patrickdlyonsmlb https://bsky.app/profile/rockiesinsider.bsky.social https://bsky.app/profile/patrickdlyons.bsky.social https://www.tiktok.com/@patrickdlyonsmlbSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Colorado dropped to 55-94 with 13 games remaining on the 2026 slate. Is 100 losses now inevitable for the fourth consecutive season? Will 10 games at Coors Field help them stave off more infamy? The bright spot coming out of a pair of sweeps against the Yankees and Tigers was Hunter Goodman who reached 38 home runs on the year. When was the last Rockie to reach 23 road homers in a single season? Who was the last NL catcher with that many dingers? Plus, Gabriel Hughes struggles to earn his first career win, Jaden Hill has a rough day at the ballpark and the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats play for a championship.  🎥WATCH LIVE 🎥 https://www.youtube.com/@TheRockiesInsider 🎧 LISTEN 🎧  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-rockies-insider-with-patrick-lyons/id1762349675 https://open.spotify.com/show/2MVUbiBbDp3wM85z2yy0Ut ✏️WRITTEN ✏️ https://www.justbaseball.com/author/patrickdennislyons/ https://patrickdlyons.substack.com/ 🚨 SOCIAL MEDIA 🚨 https://x.com/Rockies_Insider https://x.com/PatrickDLyons https://www.threads.net/@rockies_insider https://www.threads.net/@patrickdlyonsmlb https://bsky.app/profile/rockiesinsider.bsky.social https://bsky.app/profile/patrickdlyons.bsky.social https://www.tiktok.com/@patrickdlyonsmlbSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The thing we'll remember most this weekend from the three-game set between the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies is not the baseball so much as the behavior of umpire Doug Eddings on Friday night. Was the crooked cap correction the only infraction for Eddings? And what did he have to say about Hunter Goodman? TJ Rumfield and Cole Carrigg did something special on Friday night: hitting a triple and a homer in the same game as rookies. Did Carrigg's inside-the-park home run set a new franchise high? Is Rumfield approaching rarified air? Plus, why re-signing Jordan Romano for 2027 makes so much sense, Ryan Feltner rebounds after a virus in Atlanta and why being traditional (even in pro sports) can be taken too far. 🎥WATCH LIVE 🎥 https://www.youtube.com/@TheRockiesInsider 🎧 LISTEN 🎧  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-rockies-insider-with-patrick-lyons/id1762349675 https://open.spotify.com/show/2MVUbiBbDp3wM85z2yy0Ut ✏️WRITTEN ✏️ https://www.justbaseball.com/author/patrickdennislyons/ https://patrickdlyons.substack.com/ 🚨 SOCIAL MEDIA 🚨 https://x.com/Rockies_Insider https://x.com/PatrickDLyons https://www.threads.net/@rockies_insider https://www.threads.net/@patrickdlyonsmlb https://bsky.app/profile/rockiesinsider.bsky.social https://bsky.app/profile/patrickdlyons.bsky.social https://www.tiktok.com/@patrickdlyonsmlbSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Colorado got a pair of much needed wins against the Baltimore Orioles to snap their 10-game home losing streak heading into their weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals. When was the last time Cards-Rox didn't feature Nolan Arenado? Can TJ Rumfield boost his Rookie of the Year resume against NL ROY favorite JJ Wetherholt? Charlie Condon has been better than good in Triple-A this season and proven that his prodigious power at Georgia will play in the pro ball. Why won't the Rockies be giving him his MLB debut this month? Is the front office being a bit short-sighted? Plus, Gabriel Hughes narrowly misses history, Brett Sullivan gets his much-deserved flowers and Arte Moreno sells the Los Angeles Angels (of Anaheim) to Stan Kroenke, owner of the Nuggets, Avalance and Rapids. 🎥WATCH LIVE 🎥 https://www.youtube.com/@TheRockiesInsider 🎧 LISTEN 🎧  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-rockies-insider-with-patrick-lyons/id1762349675 https://open.spotify.com/show/2MVUbiBbDp3wM85z2yy0Ut ✏️WRITTEN ✏️ https://www.justbaseball.com/author/patrickdennislyons/ https://patrickdlyons.substack.com/ 🚨 SOCIAL MEDIA 🚨 https://x.com/Rockies_Insider https://x.com/PatrickDLyons https://www.threads.net/@rockies_insider https://www.threads.net/@patrickdlyonsmlb https://bsky.app/profile/rockiesinsider.bsky.social https://bsky.app/profile/patrickdlyons.bsky.social https://www.tiktok.com/@patrickdlyonsmlbSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The home losing streak reached a franchise record in the worst possible way Monday night with Colton Cowser's walk-off home run robbery. How badly did Colorado need that hit with runners in scoring position? And how historic was that incredible web gem? Tanner Gordon may not be a pitcher who strikes fear into opposing lineups, but he's been more than effective for the Rockies. Why does he deserve a place among the top five starters next season? What does he bring to Colorado that is so valuable as a starting pitcher? Plus, the possibility of Jackson Holliday returning to Coors Field as a Rockie next season, Warren Schaeffer comments on the Cole Carrigg benching and the two players promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque for the September 1 roster expansion. 🎥WATCH LIVE 🎥 https://www.youtube.com/@TheRockiesInsider 🎧 LISTEN 🎧  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-rockies-insider-with-patrick-lyons/id1762349675 https://open.spotify.com/show/2MVUbiBbDp3wM85z2yy0Ut ✏️WRITTEN ✏️ https://www.justbaseball.com/author/patrickdennislyons/ https://patrickdlyons.substack.com/ 🚨 SOCIAL MEDIA 🚨 https://x.com/Rockies_Insider https://x.com/PatrickDLyons https://www.threads.net/@rockies_insider https://www.threads.net/@patrickdlyonsmlb https://bsky.app/profile/rockiesinsider.bsky.social https://bsky.app/profile/patrickdlyons.bsky.social https://www.tiktok.com/@patrickdlyonsmlbSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
