Show NotesA few months before Decode Your Path officially began recording, Dr. A’s 12-year-old daughter asked if she could be her very first guest. Excited and eager to be part of the podcast, she made it an easy yes. The two sat down with nothing fancy, just a couple of microphones, and began an honest conversation. In this episode, Dr. A and her daughter explore her relationship with her dad: what is working, what feels difficult, and what she wishes could be different.Through the lenses of the inner-child concept and Numerical Psychology, they reflect on how family relationships can be influenced by childhood experiences, expectations, and patterns that often go unspoken. The conversation also explores what it means to love someone while accepting their limitations, how to communicate our needs without expecting another person to change, and how patterns we learn in childhood may influence our relationships later in life. Most importantly, Dr. A’s daughter shares the kind of relationship she hopes to have with her dad.Candid, vulnerable, and insightful, this conversation offers a unique perspective on family relationships, from a child’s point of view, and may resonate with parents, children, and anyone interested in understanding the patterns they carry into their relationships.Enjoy. 🙂Timestamps(0:00) My First Guest Was 12: Setting Up the Conversation(0:32) Numerical Psychology, Inner Children, and Why This Conversation Matters(1:17) “How Would You Describe Your Relationship With Your Dad?”(2:08) The Magic Wand Question: What Would She Change?(2:39) What She Actually Wants: Feedback Without Criticism(4:29) Why Adults Struggle to Hear Feedback: It’s Not Always About You(6:15) Loving Someone While Accepting Their Limitations(6:54) How Childhood Patterns Follow Us Into Adult Relationships(8:05) Communicating Needs Without Expecting People to Change(10:03) Closing Thoughts & Where to Follow👋🏼 GET IN TOUCHFollow @decodeyourpath339 on Instagram or subscribe on Substack for more conversations about inner-child concepts and Numerical Psychology.I’d love to hear from you, your feedback, ideas, or what stood out to you from this episode. Show NotesEver feel stuck, like you’re going through the motions instead of actually living your life?In this deeply personal episode of Decode Your Path, Dr. A shares her journey of discovering how her wounded inner child, shaped by a conservative upbringing where girls were not seen as important as boys, was quietly influencing some of the biggest decisions in her life.Dr. A reflects on a five-time-broken engagement, an encounter with a professor that introduced her to the concept of inner child work more than 20 years ago, and the realization that changed the way she understood herself, her relationships, and her choices. Through the lens of inner child and Numerical Psychology, she explores how recognizing and connecting with her wounded inner child helped transform her self-worth, relationships, and the way she shows up as a partner and parent. For anyone who has ever wondered why they keep repeating the same patterns, or wanted to better understand the psychology behind them, this episode offers a personal look at what can happen when we pause, turn inward, and begin exploring the parts of ourselves that may have been asking for our attention.Timestamps(00:00) The Question That Started It All: Are You Really Stuck, or Being Led by a Wounded Inner Child?(02:07) Growing Up Conservative: When Girls Weren’t Considered as Important as Boys(03:12) Moving to the U.S.: Going Through the Motions Instead of Truly Living(03:37) The Dead-End Relationship: Drawn to Someone Her Inner Child Wanted to Save(03:52) Five Attempts to Leave: The Humiliation of Breaking Off an Engagement Over and Over(04:43) “Let’s See How Long This Breakup Will Last”(05:29) Facing Herself: The Terrifying Question of “What Do I Actually Want?”(06:49) Grad School and the Professor She Avoided(07:24) The Moment Inner Child Work Clicked(08:29) The Physical Weight of Her Inner Child: Pressure in the Chest(09:41) The First Signs of Transformation(10:03) Marriage, Career, and Kids(10:51) Questions About Love, Kids, and Money(12:01) What’s Coming Next on Decode Your Path👋🏼 GET IN TOUCHFollow @decodeyourpath339 on Instagram or subscribe on Substack for more conversations about inner-child concepts and Numerical Psychology.I’d love to hear from you, your feedback, ideas, or what stood out to you from this episode. Show NotesIn this episode, Dr. A shares her perspective on what the “wounded inner child” really is, and why she doesn’t connect with terms like “shadow self” or “regressed part.” She explains how the inner child forms during childhood, particularly between ages six and ten, and introduces numerical psychology, a framework that combines psychology and numerology, to explore how the day and month someone was born can reveal the specific wound their inner child may carry.Dr. A walks through each birth-date group (1st/10th/19th/28th through 9th/18th/27th), describing adult patterns associated with each, and shares a personal reflection on recognizing herself in her own numbers. She closes with a guided visualization, a long hallway lined with doors, each leading to a room representing a different area of life, designed to help listeners open the “curtains” on the beliefs and experiences their inner child may has been carrying, and take the first step toward a compassionate relationship with that part of themselves. Enjoy. 🙂Timestamps(0:00) Intro: What Comes to Mind When You Hear “Inner Child”?(0:21) Meet Dr. A: Her Background in Psychology, Counseling, and Numerical Psychology(0:55) Why This Episode: Demystifying the Wounded Inner Child(1:29) Other Names for It , Shadow Self, Attachment Self, and Why None Quite Fit(2:06) Dr. A’s Definition: The Inner Child as the Emotional Part of Us Shaped by Early Experience(2:39) How the Inner Child Follows Us Into Adulthood(4:00) Why the Inner Child Tries to “Protect” Us From Old Pain(4:20) Reframing the Inner Child as a Young Version of Yourself, Not Something Broken(4:44) Introducing Numerical Psychology: Using Your Birthday as a Map(6:11) Birth Month, Family, and Generational Patterns(6:24) Born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, or 28th - The Pressure to Be Perfect(6:50) Born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th, or 29th - Feeling Unimportant and Codependence(7:01) Born on the 3rd, 12th, 21st, or 30th - Embarrassment and Wearing a Mask(7:23) Born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd, or 31st - Carrying Guilt and the Need to Overcorrect(7:48) Born on the 5th, 14th, or 23rd - Freedom, Autonomy, and Fear of Commitment(8:16) Born on the 6th, 15th, or 24th - Helplessness and Taking Care of Everyone Else(8:44) Born on the 7th, 16th, or 25th - Uncertainty, Anxiety, and the Need for Control(9:12) Born on the 8th, 17th, or 26th - Injustice and the Fear of Vulnerability(9:30) Born on the 9th, 18th, or 27th - Loss, Abandonment, and Self-Sacrifice(10:02) Seeing Yourself in the Numbers - Dr. A’s Personal Story(10:18) The Hallway Visualization: Meeting Your Inner Child(13:01) Opening the Curtains - How Self-Awareness Brings Light Into the Hallway(12:41) Learning to Listen to and Support Your Inner Child(13:21) Outro: Subscribe, Share, Follow for More👋🏼 GET IN TOUCHFollow @decodeyourpath339 on Instagram or subscribe on Substack for more conversations about inner-child concepts and Numerical Psychology.I’d love to hear from you, your feedback, ideas, or what stood out to you from this episode. Show NotesWhat if the reason someone feels unlovable, stuck, or unsure of themselves has less to do with who they are today, and more to do with what their wounded inner child may still believe about them?In this episode of Decode Your Path, Dr. A, who holds a Doctorate in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Counseling, and a certificate in Numerical Psychology, sits down with Arely Martinez Yanez is a first-generation college student, former foster youth, and counseling faculty member, who shares her personal journey and arrives at an unexpected realization: the “inner child” she had always imagined as a happy, carefree five-year-old might not be the part of her influencing her decisions today.Dr. A and Arely explore how childhood experiences and the concept of a wounded inner child may shape decisions, relationships, and our sense of self, and why we can still feel like we’re not enough even when everything appears to be going well on paper. The conversation also brings together psychology and numerology through the lens of Numerical Psychology, exploring why some people may feel a strong sense of duty toward their families while also feeling a deep need to explore the world and find their own path.Arely and Dr. A. talks about the blind spots, choosing a career far from home, repeatedly quitting the gym, and begins to see her childhood experiences from an entirely different perspective.By the end of the conversation, Arely walks away with a new theory, and what it might look like to build a more trusting relationship with the part of herself that still needs understanding and compassion.Timestamps(00:00) What If You’re Not Broken, Just Wounded?(00:40) Meet Arely and the Big Idea Behind the Episode(01:31) Arely’s First Encounter With the Term “Inner Child”(02:31) The Retreat Exercise That Started It All(05:45) Playful Child vs. Strict Parent: Arely’s Relationship With Her Inner Child(08:38) Numerical Psychology and the Roots of the Inner Child(10:26) Choosing a Career Far From Family: A Real Conflict(13:23) Untangling the Adult Self From the Inner Child(17:22) The Big Discovery(19:11) The Hollow Foundation: Why Blind Spots Hold Us Back(20:07) Dr. A’s Own Journey to Recognizing Her Wounded Inner Child(24:09) “I’m Not Lovable”(26:57) Choosing Growth Over Fear: The Public Speaking Story(27:06) The Rollercoaster of Emotions(28:40) Therapy the Right Place for Inner Child Work(29:07) Final Advice: Take Your Inner Child Seriously(29:29) Outro👋🏼 GET IN TOUCHFollow @decodeyourpath339 on Instagram or subscribe on Substack for more conversations about inner-child concepts and Numerical Psychology.I’d love to hear from you, your feedback, ideas, or what stood out to you from this episode.
