Description

Food is our favourite way to get to know people.
Every week, Gemma Leslie and Haylee Evans sit down with people they're curious about to talk school lunchboxes, controversial hot takes, unforgettable meals and, inevitably, what's for dinner.
It's equal parts creativity, culture and chaos (but mostly chaos).
Take a seat, and tuck in.

Today’s guest is Andy Miller, the visionary CEO and Co-Founder of Heaps Normal, the independent, Aussie-owned non-alc beer company.Back in 2020, Andy and his co-founders set themselves a pretty ambitious mission: create an alcohol-free beer that actually tasted like beer, and that pubs and bars would genuinely want to stock. Five years later, they’ve done exactly that, with Heaps Normal becoming a staple in fridges and on taps in thousands of pubs around Australia. We chat to Andy about growing up “in a Bluey episode”, the early days of Heaps Normal and what actually makes a good pub. Andy gives us his top five favourite beers, Gem learns the surprisingly fascinating ins and outs of how pub lines are cleaned, and Haylee gets to fangirl over one of her favourite topics: beer.Whether you’ve been meaning to finally crack a can of Heaps Normal or you’re already a long-time fan, this episode is a lot of fun, and you might even learn a thing or two along the way.Show NotesHeaps Normal WebsiteHigh Hopes ProseccoGrifter Pale AleThe Food For Everyone Radio Hour is hosted and edited by Gemma Leslie and Haylee Evans with special mention to Jana Kontogiannis. Our theme song/music was created by Jaz Johnston. Food For Everyone is a culinary poster shop & creative studio that collaborates with renowned chefs and contemporary artists to turn recipes into artworks. Our guest today is Victoria Zschommler, a still-life, fashion and beauty photographer, who has shot for Dior, Chanel, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Bulgari, and Burberry (just to name drop a few). She has spent a significant part of her incredible career working abroad, but now resides in Northern NSW with her young family. In today's episode, we chat with Vic about growing up by the steel benchtops of her father's Brisbane restaurant in the 90s, her favourite German dishes, working in high-fashion photography in Paris (Um, hello, Chanel?!) and how she developed her distinct creative eye, plus her newfound love for rockpools.Victoria also shares her thoughts on juggling family life with a creative career, sharing her notes on motherhood and how to find balance, especially when you work for yourself. Vic's message is that parenting isn't a one-size-fits-all scenario—forging your own path that's true to you is what it's all about. Oh, and remembering to be nice to yourself. Today’s episode is with Aussie rules legend and artist, Darcy Vescio.Darcy is best known for their incredible AFLW career as a two-time All-Australian, two-time AFLW Leading Goalkicker and Carlton Football Club Best and Fairest winner. Off the footy oval, Darcy is an artist, creating work across a range of mediums including painting, textiles, illustration and design. We chat about growing up in rural Victoria, the importance of a good footy canteen (and, of course, Darcy’s snack of choice), and why approaching your art practice like you’re training for sport might actually be the way to go.If you’ve got a little Troy Bolton in you and can’t choose between sport and art, this episode is a reminder that maybe you don’t have to choose at all.Show NotesDarcy's WebsiteThe Food For Everyone Radio Hour is hosted and edited by Gemma Leslie and Haylee Evans with special mention to Jana Kontogiannis. Our theme song/music was created by Jaz Johnston. Our guest today is Ngọc Trần, the driving force behind Shop Bao Ngoc, a small Vietnamese eatery in Brunswick that operates as much as a community space as it does a restaurant. In today’s episode, you’ll hear about Ngọc’s experience growing up in the commission flats of Footscray, learning to fillet fish from the age of five (!!), and what her Vietnamese heritage means to her today. We talk about the humble beginnings of Shop Bao Ngoc, where the shop is at now, and, of course, our good friend Anthony Bourdain — who we’re sure would have been a huge fan of her restaurant (and best friends with her grandma!)Follow Ngoc and Shop Bao Ngoc on their socials here.Show Notes:Ngoc's Chicken Pho Ga RecipeOur poster with NgocOur Footscray Market Tour VideoIf you enjoyed today’s episode, please subscribe to The Food For Everyone Radio Hour, wherever you get your podcasts. The Food For Everyone Radio Hour is hosted and edited by Gemma Leslie and Haylee Evans with special mention to Jana Kontogiannis. Our theme song/music was created by Jaz Johnston.
