Description
Every family wants to be happy, close, and secure — but what if your home was designed for something greater than comfort? Join Elizabeth Cochran and Linc Taylor, as they wrestle with the real questions parents face today. Purposeful Family isn't about getting everything right — it's about raising kids guided by conviction instead of culture, and staying present with our families and with the Lord. New episodes every other week, starting Sunday, August 2nd.

Your kids may not remember every devotional or parenting speech, but they'll remember what it felt like to be in your home. In this episode of Purposeful Family, Linc and Elizabeth talk about building real relationship with your kids in the everyday. Using Colossians 3:12–14, they look at what gets in the way: providing instead of cultivating, correction that crowds out connection, kids who act like they don't want us around, and relationships we never saw modeled. Then they share simple paths forward, like building a fort, dancing in the rain, inviting your kids on adventures, and offering a hug after discipline, so your home becomes a place where your kids feel known, chosen, and loved.
When someone asks how you’re doing, is “busy” your first answer? In this episode of Purposeful Family, Linc and Elizabeth ask whether a full calendar really means a fruitful family. They look at how culture has taught us to wear busyness like a badge of honor, and at the lies that keep us running: that our kids will fall behind if we slow down, and that our worth comes from what we accomplish. Then they turn to Jesus, who often stepped away to be alone with the Father. You’ll get simple, doable ways to build rhythms of pause, rest, and reflection, give your kids room to wonder and discover, and make space for God to move in your home.
Every family is being discipled by something — the only question is by what, or by whom. In this episode, Linc and Elizabeth talk honestly about the slow pull of cultural drift: how our calendars, our budgets, and our dinner-table conversations can quietly start to look like everyone else's if we're not paying attention. Using Joshua's bold declaration in Joshua 24:15, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord," they walk through what it looks like to name your family's values before the world names them for you, and why comparison always loses to conviction. If you've ever wondered whether your family is being built on purpose or just happening by default, this one's for you.
Every day, parents face a choice: take the path of least resistance or lead with intention. In this episode, Linc and Elizabeth talk about what it really looks like to disciple our kids in the ordinary, everyday moments, not just the planned devotional nights. Using Deuteronomy 6:7 and the picture of Lois and Eunice discipling young Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:4–5, they walk through what "as you go" parenting looks like in the tired moments, meltdowns, disappointments, and celebrations. It's an honest, practical conversation about trading comfort and ease for a home shaped by purpose.
Most of us want our families to be healthy, close, and happy, but somewhere along the way, comfort can quietly become the goal instead of a byproduct of following Jesus. In this episode, Linc and Elizabeth talk about what it looks like to build a purposeful family—one that lives on mission together instead of just chasing a beautiful family experience. They walk through the barriers that keep families stuck in their comfort zones, share practical first steps for inviting your kids into a bigger story, and talk about how family mission trips can shape identity, faith, and the way you see the people around you. Listen in for a conversation that will challenge how you think about family, priorities, and what it means to follow Christ together.
