Has Stargate finally been saved? After years of waiting, Amazon MGM is moving forward with a new Stargate project, with WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer reportedly attached to develop the franchise. That sounds like great news. But for long-time Stargate fans, the announcement also raises one massive question:Are we getting a continuation of the Stargate universe — or a hard reboot? In this episode of Stargate: After Action, Craig looks at the future of the franchise, why he is cautiously optimistic about Schaeffer, and why any new creative team needs writers who understand the source material and the universe built across Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe.A new series needs to welcome new viewers, but it should not have to erase decades of established continuity to do it.Craig also argues that the fan campaign now needs to evolve.#SaveStargate helped keep the demand for Stargate alive. Now it is time for:#SaveStargateLegacyBring Stargate back — but preserve the universe fans have supported for decades.CHAPTERS00:00 Has Stargate Been Saved?02:08 Stargate Looked Dead Again & the Save Stargate Campaign05:10 Jac Schaeffer — Why I’m Optimistic but Cautious07:58 Does the New Team Understand Stargate?09:20 The Writers’ Room Must Know the Source Material11:54 Hard Reboot or Continuation?14:51 Preserve SG-1, Atlantis & Stargate Universe Canon16:24 #SaveStargateLegacy — What Fans Should Fight For18:26 How a Stargate Reboot Could Fail Hard19:40 Final Thoughts — Keep Fighting for StargateDo you want the new Stargate series to continue the established universe?Or would you accept a complete reboot?Join the discussion and use:#SaveStargate#SaveStargateLegacyFollow Geek In Camo:Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cw/GeekInCamoYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@geekincamoTwitter/X: https://x.com/GeekInCamoFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090437307439Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/geekincamo/Threads: https://www.threads.com/@geekincamo?hl=en#Stargate #StargateRevival #StargateSG1 #StargateAtlantis #StargateUniverse #SaveStargate #SaveStargateLegacy #GeekInCamoBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/geek-in-camo--7219440/support.
Lanterns Season 1 is over, and Craig absolutely loved it.In this DC: After Action season review, we go back through the complete first season of Lanterns — Hal Jordan and John Stewart's complicated relationship, the mystery in Rushville, the Manhunters, Sinestro, Noah, the murder of Hal Jordan and the choices that finally turn John Stewart into Earth's Green Lantern.Craig comes into Lanterns as someone who isn't a Green Lantern comics reader. His main exposure to the mythology has been the Green Lantern movie, DC animation and Guy Gardner in Superman — making this a review from the perspective of a relative newcomer to this corner of the DC Universe.Kyle Chandler delivers a brilliant and deeply flawed Hal Jordan, while Aaron Pierre's John Stewart grows from a man trying to prove himself worthy of the ring into someone prepared to define for himself what being Green Lantern actually means. We also look ahead to the future: John Stewart's upcoming appearance in Man of Tomorrow, Sinestro's unfinished story, Noah's Manhunter connection and what a potential Lanterns Season 2 could explore.FULL SPOILERS for all eight episodes of Lanterns Season 1.CHAPTERS00:00 Lanterns Season 1 Review & Season 2 News02:34 My Green Lantern Background04:01 Why Lanterns Doesn't Feel Like a Typical Superhero Show05:17 Hal Jordan & John Stewart06:33 Rushville and the Manhunter Mystery09:05 John Stewart's Origin & the Zoe Reveal11:30 The Fall of Hal Jordan13:25 Ten Years Later: Hal Jordan's Murder15:12 Guy Gardner, the Halogram & Hal's Legacy17:43 The Finale: Sinestro, Noah & the Murder Mystery20:57 Hal and John Say Goodbye22:02 John Stewart Becomes Green Lantern23:54 Kyle Chandler & Aaron Pierre25:09 John Stewart Heads to Man of Tomorrow28:01 Was Lanterns Season 1 Perfect?29:01 Season 2: Where Things Stand & What I Want32:10 Man of Tomorrow and the Wider DCU33:26 My Final Verdict on Lanterns Season 135:27 Final Thoughts & OutroSUPPORT & FOLLOW GEEK IN CAMOPatreon:https://www.patreon.com/cw/GeekInCamoYouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@geekincamoTwitter/X:https://x.com/GeekInCamoFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090437307439Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/geekincamo/Threads:https://www.threads.com/@geekincamo?hl=enLISTEN TO GEEK IN CAMOSpreaker:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/geek-in-camo--7219440Apple Podcasts:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/id6796128075Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/033Y9TroBdO7Eo91Wqe7AeiHeartRadio:https://iheart.com/podcast/339886373Amazon Music / Audible:https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/2a9c2703-87f6-48e7-984d-44d027dc0f5eCastbox:https://castbox.fm/channel/id7338466Deezer:https://www.deezer.com/show/100344320Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/geek-in-camo--7219440/support.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 is officially in the books. So was it a great season of Star Trek — or did Strange New Worlds lose its way?Craig and Steve are back together for Making It So Episode 57 to wrap up the entire fourth season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. We go through all ten episodes in order, give our scores, revisit what worked and what absolutely didn’t, and then step back to discuss the much bigger questions surrounding one of the most experimental seasons of modern Star Trek.Season 4 gave us everything from dinosaurs and cosmic horror to Hangover-style comedy, black-and-white noir, puppets, soap opera, real-time disaster storytelling, Crimson Tide-style command drama and another visit to the Elysian Kingdom. For Craig and Steve, that produced some genuinely brilliant Star Trek — but also some of the weakest episodes either of us has seen from the franchise. We discuss the outstanding opening episode “Valles Marineris,” the unsettling “The Griffin Incident,” the disappointing “Human Best Friend,” the controversial puppet episode “Level-Five Transporter Accident,” the excellent “Off-Hour,” the strange but surprisingly effective “Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass,” the brilliant “Orders of Magnitude,” the much less successful “Once La’an a Time,” and the TOS-heavy finale “Tomorrow’s Enterprise.”Then we move beyond individual episodes.Did Strange New Worlds rely too heavily on gimmicks? Is genre experimentation the problem — or only when the gimmick becomes more important than the Star Trek story? Can a ten-episode season afford this many experiments? Is Pike still the central character of his own series?Has Kirk appeared too often? What happened to Pelia? What do we want from McCoy and Sulu? And what does Season 5 need to do to bring Pike’s era to a satisfying conclusion? We also talk about the broader state of Star Trek, Starfleet Academy, the franchise’s recent direction, why weekly releases still matter, and why discussing these episodes together has sometimes completely changed the way we look at them. Most importantly, we want to hear from you. What was your favourite episode? What was your least favourite?Did you enjoy the genre experiments? And what do you need to see from Season 5?CONTENTS00:00 Strange New Worlds Season 4 Wrap-Up01:30 Valles Marineris – An Incredible Start03:27 The Griffin Incident – Better on Rewatch?05:31 Human Best Friend – Star Trek Does The Hangover06:13 A Case of Chiaroscuro07:48 Level-Five Transporter Accident – The Puppet Episode08:27 Off-Hour – One of the Season’s Best09:56 Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass13:13 Orders of Magnitude – Star Trek Does Crimson Tide14:00 Once La’an a Time – Our Season Low17:23 Tomorrow’s Enterprise – Kirk’s Enterprise21:38 Our Favourite Episodes23:36 Has Star Trek Lost Its Way?27:40 Pike, Kirk & The Problem With Gimmick Episodes30:26 What We Want From Season 531:32 Our Overall Season 4 Verdict34:33 The Future of Star Trek36:17 Your Season 4 Questions39:00 Talking Trek as Fans43:02 What’s Next for Making It SoA huge thank you to everyone who has watched, listened, commented and followed us throughout Season 4 — and particularly to our Patreon supporters who directly help support Geek In Camo.Follow the podcast so you don’t miss what Craig and Steve do next on Making It So.GEEK IN CAMOPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/cw/GeekInCamoYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@geekincamoTwitter/X: https://x.com/GeekInCamoFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090437307439Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/geekincamo/Threads: https://www.threads.com/@geekincamo?hl=enSpreaker: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/geek-in-camo--7219440Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/id6796128075Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/033Y9TroBdO7Eo91Wqe7AeiHeartRadio: https://iheart.com/podcast/339886373Amazon Music/Audible: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/2a9c2703-87f6-48e7-984d-44d027dc0f5eCastbox: https://castbox.fm/channel/id7338466Deezer: https://www.deezer.com/show/1003443202Podcast Addict: https://podcastaddict.com/podcast/geek-in-camo/7178431Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/geek-in-camo-6564378Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/geek-in-camo--7219440/support.
What Am I Watching This Week? is back after a week off — and despite life getting in the way, I still managed to get through a pretty ridiculous amount of TV and movies. This week I’m talking about the Lioness Season 3 finale and where that huge ending leaves Joe’s story, plus the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 finale after what has been a very uneven season.I’m also rewatching The Terminal List Season 1 ahead of Season 2 arriving in October, while Stuart Fails to Save the Universe continues to be one of those shows I can throw on whenever I simply want a laugh. Then we head into some older sci-fi.I’ve started watching Falling Skies again. Who remembers Tom Mason, the 2nd Mass, the Skitters and the mystery surrounding the alien occupation?I’ve also been watching Resident Alien, because Alan Tudyk is excellent in basically everything he does and Harry Vanderspeigle remains one of his funniest characters. And then the nostalgia binge got completely out of control. We watched all three Lord of the Rings movies — The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King — and they still hold up magnificently. Then we went back to the Police Academy movies for some pure ’80s comedy before finishing with the original Cannonball Run starring Burt Reynolds and an absurd collection of famous faces. This week:🦁 Lioness Season 3 Finale🖖 Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Finale🎯 The Terminal List Season 1 Rewatch😂 Stuart Fails to Save the Universe👽 Falling Skies👽 Resident Alien⚔️ The Lord of the Rings Trilogy🚔 Police Academy🏎️ The Cannonball RunWho remembers Falling Skies? Are you watching Resident Alien? What did you think of the Lioness and Strange New Worlds finales? And what are YOU watching this week?Join the conversation with Geek In Camo and send me your recommendations — something you suggest might end up on a future episode.Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cw/GeekInCamoYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@geekincamoInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/geekincamo/Twitter/X: https://x.com/GeekInCamoWhat Am I Watching This Week? — Geek In CamoBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/geek-in-camo--7219440/support.
🚨 STAR WARS EPISODE X?! A new Star Wars trilogy is moving forward — and Jon Watts, director of the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy and co-creator of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, is attached to direct the next movie.Welcome to the FIRST episode of STAR WARS: AFTER ACTION on Geek In Camo.Reports now suggest Simon Kinberg's upcoming Star Wars trilogy could continue the Skywalker Saga, potentially taking the main story beyond The Rise of Skywalker and into Episodes X, XI and XII.But should Lucasfilm really reopen a saga that Episode IX was supposed to finish? And if they do… have they actually planned the trilogy this time?In this episode I break down the latest Star Wars news and give my thoughts on:⚔️ Whether this really is STAR WARS: EPISODE X🎬 Jon Watts taking the director's chair✍️ Simon Kinberg writing the new trilogy🌌 Why Lucasfilm cannot simply reset the galaxy again🟦 What should happen to Rey Skywalker🧙 Whether Rey should rebuild the Jedi Order🔴 Why we need a completely new villain and threat🏛️ What the galaxy should look like after The Rise of Skywalker🎥 Dave Filoni and the new Lucasfilm leadership🔥 The lessons Lucasfilm needs to learn from the sequel trilogy❓ And whether the Skywalker Saga should have remained finishedI don't want another Empire.I don't want another Resistance.I don't want another Death Star. And please… leave Palpatine dead.If we're genuinely going into Episodes X, XI and XII, Star Wars needs to move the galaxy FORWARD.New worlds. New factions. New heroes. New threats. And above everything else:PLAN THE BLOODY TRILOGY FIRST.What do you think?Do you want STAR WARS: EPISODE X?Should Daisy Ridley's Rey return as the central character, become the mentor to a new generation of Jedi, or should Lucasfilm move away from the Skywalker era altogether?Let me know in the comments. If you enjoy Star Wars news, reviews, reactions, theories and deeper franchise discussions, subscribe to Geek In Camo for more Star Wars: After Action.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⏱️ CHAPTERS00:00 – STAR WARS EPISODE X?!00:49 – Welcome to Star Wars: After Action01:35 – Is This Actually Episode X?02:40 – Why Reopen the Skywalker Saga?03:46 – Lucasfilm Needs a Plan This Time05:21 – Don't Reset the Galaxy Again06:39 – What Happens to Rey Skywalker?08:03 – Star Wars Needs a New Threat09:30 – Jon Watts: Is He the Right Director?10:37 – Simon Kinberg: The Wildcard11:31 – A Different Lucasfilm Under Dave Filoni12:15 – Can Star Wars Feel Like an Event Again?13:11 – Does Star Wars Actually Need Episode X?14:29 – What Episode X Must Get Right━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🪖 SUPPORT GEEK IN CAMOPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/cw/GeekInCamoYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@geekincamo━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━📱 FOLLOW GEEK IN CAMOTwitter/X: https://x.com/GeekInCamoFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090437307439Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/geekincamo/Threads: https://www.threads.com/@geekincamo?hl=en━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🎙️ LISTEN TO GEEK IN CAMOSpreaker: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/geek-in-camo--7219440Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/id6796128075Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/033Y9TroBdO7Eo91Wqe7AeiHeart: https://iheart.com/podcast/339886373Amazon Music/Audible: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/2a9c2703-87f6-48e7-984d-44d027dc0f5eCastbox: https://castbox.fm/channel/id7338466Deezer: https://www.deezer.com/show/1003443202━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━STAR WARS: AFTER ACTIONNews • Reviews • Reactions • Theories • Franchise AnalysisFrom a galaxy far, far away… to the Geek In Camo studio.#StarWars #StarWarsEpisodeX #GeekInCamoBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/geek-in-camo--7219440/support.
