This week, Steph and Holly are joined by model, influencer and Live and Let B co-host Olivia Mathers for a very honest chat about breakups, turning 30, dating and finding yourself again. Fresh out of a relationship, Olivia opens up about why she walked away, the peace that came with her decision and rediscovering her feminine side. The girls dive into attachment styles, love languages and whether your late 20s really are the beginning of a quarter-life crisis. Then it's time for a new game of Live and Let B, where the girls decide when to intervene in someone else's relationship and when to mind their own business. Plus, the Neighbours are back with some wild dilemmas. Is 21 too young to buy a house with your boyfriend? Should you delete your ex from Instagram? Can swimming actually stop your period? And what happens when you steal your friend's vibrator... and then use it? From heartfelt relationship advice to some seriously unhinged confessions, this episode has a little bit of everything. Subscribe, follow and share Girls Next Door with your friends, it's what good Neighbours do! 💌 Key Talking Points Olivia Mathers: Breakups & Turning 30 Olivia opens up about ending her relationship just months before her 30th birthday, navigating a new chapter and finding peace in her decision to walk away. Holly finally has an Aussie update, and somehow things have escalated very quickly. After meeting in Bali, a few dates and nothing more than a kiss, Aussie has flown down to Melbourne and Holly has already found herself at his family home meeting both of his parents. Then, because apparently that wasn’t enough pressure, he books himself in with Holly’s psychic to find out what she has to say about their relationship. The whole thing sends Steph down memory lane with some of her own very fast relationship stories, from being flown business class across the country after only a couple of dates, to meeting an enormous family while battling the UTI from hell, and one particularly rogue encounter that ended with her topless in a spa with her boyfriend’s mum. Then the Neighbours take over. One girl thinks her boyfriend is simply too boring to stay with, another feels like her ex stole her entire twenties, and Liam has realised he might have more chemistry with the best friend of the girl he’s actually dating. There’s also a mum who accidentally sends a voice note roasting another parent straight into the school group chat. And somehow it gets worse. A used condom goes through a share-house washing machine, one Neighbour loves her boyfriend but can’t stop thinking about how much better the sex was with her toxic ex, and a quick toilet stop at a country servo turns into one of the creepiest Horror Stories yet. Make sure you rate, hit subscribe and send this episode to your friends, because that’s what good Neighbours do! KEY TALKING POINTS Holly’s Aussie UpdateAussie has officially flown down to Melbourne and Holly gives the full debrief on where things are at after meeting him in Bali and talking ever since. Steph’s Very Fast Family IntroductionHolly’s story reminds Steph of the guy who flew to Melbourne to take her on a date, booked Crown and then flew her business class to Perth to meet his enormous family only days later. Topless In The Spa With His MumSteph remembers another boyfriend’s very rogue mum, who stripped off during a morning spa session before taking Steph’s top off too. My Boyfriend Is So BoringA 19-year-old Neighbour loves being outdoors and doing things, while her boyfriend would rather stay home watching footy and TikTok. Is it something they can fix, or are they simply incompatible? My Ex Took My TwentiesAfter spending almost her entire twenties with the same man, Lauren is suddenly single at 29 while her ex has already moved on with someone younger. The girls unpack starting again, biological-clock anxiety and why your thirties might actually be the better decade. I Have Chemistry With Her Best FriendLiam has been dating someone for three months, but after meeting her best friend he’s realised the connection between them might be stronger than the relationship he’s actually in. The School Group Chat Voice NoteA frustrated mum records a voice note absolutely roasting the overbearing parent in her daughter’s class, only to accidentally send it directly into the school group chat. The Sealed Section Gets FeralA used condom somehow ends up going through a share-house washing machine, before another Neighbour asks whether being with a genuinely good guy is enough when they are completely sexually incompatible. The Servo Toilet Horror StoryA woman stopping at an isolated servo is trapped inside the toilet when a strange man calmly tells her he’s coming in, before the situation takes an even creepier turn when he manages to leave with another woman.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Summer is coming, which means one thing... summer romance is back. This week, Steph and Holly are getting ready for summer loving with dating updates, old holiday flings and one confession involving their brother’s best friend that probably should have stayed buried on the Surf Coast. Then it’s over to the Neighbours. Is it your responsibility to look after the family dog when your sister still lives at home? What happens to the friendship group when two people inside it break up? And how much is too much to ask from a bridesmaid who is already dealing with one of the hardest years of her life? Things only get messier when one Neighbour realises her boyfriend might be planning a proposal after she has already told him she isn’t ready, while another discovers the girl she’s seeing has secretly been using her toothbrush. Then we answer one of life's most important questions: why do some men not have a bin in their bathroom? And just when we think we're done, this week's Horror Story turns a routine rental inspection into something genuinely terrifying. This week on Girls Next Door, Steph and Holly are joined by Peyton and Cameron from the You Should Know Pod, fresh off their Australian tour and already questioning everything they thought they knew about us. After surviving their first shoey and discovering Australians may or may not ride kangaroos to school, we find out who’s smarter, who’s more confidently wrong, and revisit one of their greatest debates: is a fish actually an animal? Then the boys are put to the ultimate test with Girl Code. From “you can go if you want” and birthday present traps, to admitting another girl is attractive and recognising when someone is flirting with you, they quickly learn some questions are more dangerous than they seem. Then it’s over to the Neighbours. Is it still a boys trip if one girlfriend gets invited? Is sitting in the car for 30 minutes after work a relationship red flag or just decompression? Would you tell your best friend her engagement ring came from someone else’s failed marriage? And how long can one man pretend he’s going to the gym when he’s actually leaving his phone in a locker and heading to the pub? To finish, Steph, Holly, Peyton and Cameron attempt to answer some of life’s biggest questions with absolutely no help from Google. Why don’t we feel the Earth spinning? Where does fat actually go when you lose weight? Why don’t planes just fly against the Earth’s rotation? And why does your food get hot in the microwave when the plate sometimes doesn’t? Confidence is rewarded. Accuracy is optional. Make sure you rate, hit subscribe and send this episode to your friends, because that’s what good Neighbours do. ❤️ KEY MOMENTS Peyton & Cameron arrive in the NeighbourhoodThe You Should Know boys recap their Australian shows, their first shoey and what they’ve learned about Aussie culture so far. Who’s actually smarter?Peyton and Cameron explain why their friendship is basically built on arguing and reveal who is more likely to keep defending a point even after realising they’re wrong. “A fish isn’t an animal”One of their most infamous arguments returns before Steph introduces the boys to walking fish and the debate somehow moves on to whether different coloured Froot Loops have different flavours. Are you in love? The boys open up about their relationships, whether their partners listen to the podcast and what it’s like having their real personalities become part of the show. Girl CodeThe boys are tested on anniversaries, weekends with the boys, “you can go if you want”, attractive strangers, flirting and what happens when your girlfriend says she doesn’t want anything for her birthday. Peyton’s very big romantic gesturePeyton reveals the lengths he went to while trying to win over his girlfriend — including buying around 15 dozen roses. Letterbox: Boys Trip Plus OneA Neighbour has been told she can’t come on her boyfriend’s boys trip, except another girlfriend is allowed because she’s apparently “one of the boys.” Letterbox: Car Park DecompressionA boyfriend regularly sits in his car outside the house after work, sparking a very revealing conversation about the places men disappear to when they need a few minutes alone. Confession: The Marketplace RingA Neighbour discovers her best friend’s engagement ring was bought from a woman whose marriage had ended and has to decide whether knowing the ring’s history changes everything. Confession: The Fake Gym RoutineBilly has created an elaborate system where his location says he’s at the gym while he’s actually at the pub — until one night almost exposes the entire operation. Meeting of the MindsFour completely unqualified minds attempt to solve some of life’s biggest science questions with no phones and no Google. Why don’t we feel the Earth spinning?A simple question somehow turns into flat Earth theories, surfing, the moon and whether you can physically feel the planet moving. Where does fat go?The group tries to understand what happens to fat when you lose weight... Helium balloons, microwaves and questionable scienceThe questions keep coming as the group attempts to explain why balloons deflate, how microwaves work and several other things they probably should have Googled first.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The girls are back from Bali and straight into their first ever NFL game, and they have a LOT of thoughts about the way Americans do things.Steph and Holly unpack Melbourne's NFL takeover, from the entertainment that makes our sport look like a school assembly, to the moment one person threw a paper plane from the top tier and 100,000 people immediately followed. It turns into a bigger conversation about tall poppy syndrome, why Aussies physically cannot hype themselves up, and whether we've been getting Americans completely wrong this whole time. Then Steph shares what might be the most confronting aftercare story ever told on this podcast, involving a guy, a guitar, a Jack Johnson song, and her still being fully naked. Then it's back to business with your Letters, Confessions, Sealed Sections and Horror Stories, including a girl who faked an allergy three years ago and is now in too deep, a bridesmaid who went rogue at the altar, a woman still getting her hair done by her ex's mum, a period cup incident at work that we need to talk about, and a hotel safe in Thailand that opened itself at 3am.Another completely chaotic week in the neighbourhood.KEY TALKING POINTSAmericans Do It DifferentlyThe girls break down the NFL experience in Melbourne, the entertainment, the crowd, the merch, and why it made everything we do feel a bit flat.Tall Poppy Syndrome, ExplainedA conversation with a friend who played college basketball in the States completely reframes the Aussie habit of playing everything down. The Paper Plane SituationOne person launched a cardboard cutout from the top of the stadium and within minutes the whole game had stopped mattering. He Pulled Out a Guitar While I Was Still NakedHolly's story about the guy who serenaded her post-hookup with a song he had never sung in front of anyone before. The Aftercare MisreadA Neighbour wants to know how to leave after casual sex without making someone feel disposable, and whether aftercare is even expected when it's not serious. The Godparent Demotion A Neighbour was promised godmother status by her sister years ago, then found out very casually that the sister-in-law got it instead. The Fake Birthday AllergyThree years ago she panicked and said she was allergic rather than admit she hated her boyfriend's mum's dessert.
