Description

You've tried everything.

The supplements that promised calm and gave you nothing. The prescription that numbed you instead of fixing you. The advice to "just breathe," as if you hadn't already tried that a hundred times at 2am.

Project UNWD is real conversations with real people... not actors, not scripted testimonials.

The anxiety that never actually goes away on its own. The withdrawal that scared them more than the thing they were quitting. The one ordinary day everything shifted, and the years before it that didn't.

James, the founder, has been there.

That's the only reason these conversations go anywhere honest... he's not interviewing customers, he's talking to people he understands.

Some of these stories are messy. Some are still unfinished. If you want a polished wellness brand with all the answers already figured out, UNWD probably isn't for you.

If you've quietly wondered whether anyone else feels what you feel, this is for you.

Kait is a wife, a music lover, and a creative who once backpacked Scotland alone at 19. But her story didn't start where you'd expect. She had anxiety and depression for most of her life. A few years ago, she was diagnosed with POTS. Its symptoms feel just like anxiety. Soon she was having three anxiety attacks a day. Shortness of breath. Dizziness. Lying in bed shaking, with a mask over her eyes. Some days she couldn't make it from her bed to her computer. She carried a bag of crisis supplies everywhere. Then she stopped wanting to leave the house. Doctors told her it was just anxiety. Zoloft and Wellbutrin helped a little, but they left her feeling flat. Talk therapy gave her tools. She still needed room in her head to use them. Now she goes out to see live music again. At her last two shows, she danced for three hours straight. "I thought I was never going to be able to go and see live music again." In this episode, Kait explains how she learned to feel safe in her own body, and what made her world bigger. 00:00 Meet Kait 01:54 Anxiety and depression for most of her life 03:09 A POTS diagnosis in the last few years 03:51 When POTS and anxiety feel exactly the same 04:40 "That's just anxiety. Glenn is a dog dad to a rescue, a film producer, and a hiker who logs over 1,000 miles a year. But his story didn't start where you'd expect. In 1999, he was worth about $30 million. Two years later, after the dot-com crash, he was worth about $20,000. His mind would get stuck on one problem and loop through it all night. He'd tell himself to stop thinking about it. About 20 seconds later, he was right back in it. Herbal pills, valerian root and melatonin didn't really help. Then came Xanax, kratom, and 7-OH, up to 10 doses a day. A prescription to get off it left him numb, like a robot. But the loop is different now. When his thoughts start racing, he can turn them off. On his morning hikes, he feels joy and happiness again. He's smiling again. "There's silence. There's quiet. The voice isn't attacking me." In this episode, Glenn explains why his mind got stuck on repeat for so long, and how he finally found some quiet. 00:00 Introduction 00:53 Meet Glenn: radio host and filmmaker 02:07 1999: throw a dart, pick a tech stock 03:37 "I can't handle that kind of stress" 04:12 Becoming a movie extra in Hollywood 05:21 "Life is like a river" 06:04 A board chasing the stock price 08:34 "Over and over and over again" 08:58 Something to quiet the little voice in his head 10:30 Valerian root, melatonin, and groggy mornings 12:35 2010: his California costs tripled 14:57 "You just got an overactive brain" 16:32 Years on Xanax, then kratom on a friend's tip 17:37 When 7-OH came along 19:26 How the sellers push bigger doses 21:27 What 7-OH really is 22:30 Eight to 10 doses, $500 to $1,000 a month 24:56 Hiking 1,000 miles a year with his dog 27:06 "I made a horrible decision" 28:06 How Suboxone works 29:16 "Like a robot waiting to be activated" 30:55 Quitting Suboxone cold turkey 32:28 "Suddenly I was smiling again" 33:02 James sets the record straight 34:38 Cravings vs. depression: his honest answer 35:54 "Fake the smile until you're actually feeling the smile" 37:37 "Just an unstoppable loop" 38:59 A hard week, and "I can't say 100%" 39:45 Why some minds stay stuck in the loop 40:53 "There's silence. Eric is a husband of 30 years, a dad of two grown daughters, and the guy everyone calls outgoing. But his story didn't start where you'd expect. In his early 20s, the fear got so real he didn't want to leave the house. He's been on anxiety and depression meds for longer than he can remember. He calls himself an outgoing introvert. Even family gatherings make him anxious. Then his job changed, and his mother passed away in March. Every day felt like waiting for the next shoe to drop. He'd just shut down. One night he broke down with his wife and didn't even know why. He wanted something natural. He'd tried all kinds of herbs that promised to calm him down. He was very skeptical. Now things don't get to him as quickly. His energy stays up, but he feels calmer. Situations he used to dread feel more tolerable. "This is garbage. Ain't going to work," he thought at first. In this episode, Eric explains the night he broke down, and why he calls himself one of the lucky ones. 00:00 Introduction 00:48 Meet Eric: laid-back, but type A at work 02:23 A weekend in New York 03:52 On meds for "God, I don't even know how long" 04:32 "I'm an outgoing introvert" 05:09 The silent battle nobody else can see 05:45 When he couldn't leave the house 06:37 Looking for something natural 07:07 The first scoop, and the smell 08:25 A new job and a loss in March 08:45 "I broke down with my wife" 10:10 "When the next shoe is going to drop" 11:12 Shutting down at home and at work 12:27 "This is garbage. Dennis is an Army veteran and a dog dad. He walks 20,000 steps a day, even on Christmas. But his story didn't start where you'd expect. In 1999, a car hit him on his motorcycle in Georgia. Doctors handed him full bottles of pain meds. Years later, a rare nerve disease paralyzed both his calves. He didn’t want to go down the meds route again so he looked for something natural. That’s how he found kratom. That led to 7-OH. His dose climbed fast, up to 2,000 mg a day. It cost him $70 to $100 every day. One night he ran out at 3 a.m. Nothing opened until 9. He spent six hours sick, asking himself if he was a junkie. Now his mornings look different. He says he's so much happier now. The money he used to spend goes into savings. "What is in this?" he texted James. In this episode, Dennis explains the night he knew he had to quit, and what finally changed. 00:00 "You can do a lot more than you think you can" 02:29 A shattered foot, a motorcycle crash, and full bottles of Percocet 03:47 "I didn't know about withdrawals" 04:31 A rare nerve disease and two paralyzed calves 05:26 "You got me twice.
